Foreign travel update for parents/carers
The Spring Bank holiday is nearly upon us and it is important parents and carers are aware of the current situation regarding foreign leisure/holiday travel.
The government has recently introduced a traffic light system for going abroad. In summary this means:
- Red countries/territories – you are advised not to travel to these areas for leisure purposes.
- Amber countries/territories – you are advised not to travel to these areas for leisure purposes.
- Green countries/territories – you are able to travel to these countries, currently including Iceland, Portugal, Gibraltar and Israel, for leisure purposes. The green rating means travellers do not have to quarantine when they return to the UK. However, before booking, you still need to consider the country’s entry requirements as many of the green list countries or territories currently do now allow leisure travel from the UK. When returning from green list destinations you will need to take a pre-departure Covid-19 test and a PCR test on or before day two of your return. If the result is positive, you then need to self-isolate, along with the rest of your household, for ten days.
