  • Reading Challenge 2018-2019

    21st September 2018 - Serlby Park Academy


    Serlby Park pupils have now been introduced to their brand new reading challenge for this year. 

    Reading diaries now have a new insert, which lists the fantastic books which have been specially selected to form part of your child's reading journey for this year. There are four exciting titles in each colour band to choose from, including stories by significant British authors including Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Colour bands range from Red Level right through to the highest Black Level.

  • Circus!

    18th September 2018 - St Wilfrid's Academy

    On Friday 14th September a joint party of KS2 & KS3 visited the Greentop Circus workshop in Sheffield to add some in-depth knowledge to our new theme of 'Carnival' for this term. The students learned to juggle, use the Diablo spinning equipment,  unicycle riding and even tightrope walking! This was followed by KS3 visiting the circus exhibition at Weston Park Museum, which was greatly received, especially the dressing up section!



  • Monster Poetry Success

    17th September 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

    In the summer term our primary pupils were invited to take part in a national poetry competition, which we hoped would inspire and motivate them to use their imaginations and put pen to paper.

    Over 100 pupils took part and we are delighted to announce that several pupils now have now had their poems published in 'Monster Poetry', the latest edition of the poetry books by 'Young Writers'.

    Come and visit us on Open Evening - Tuesday 18th September. Y5 and Y6 pupils are welcome to join us with parents and carers from 5pm onwards. Members of the Leadership Team will accompany you on guided tours of the academy - giving you a taste of academy life and a look at some of our new buildings!

    On Thursday 13th September 2018, as part of the topic work in Year 6, we visited the National Coalmining Museum in West Yorkshire.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and we can’t wait to learn more about the history of mining within Yorkshire and Rossington.

    12th September 2018 - Manor Croft Academy

    Welcome back to the new school year and a special welcome to all our new Year 7 students and parents, what an amazing start to the new school year we have had!  Our results in the summer were simply amazing, the Year 11’s who have left have done themselves proud and have achieved amazing outcomes:

    The results were: 83% of students achieved a 4+ in English and Maths and 64% of students achieved the new strong pass grade 5 in English and Maths.  This puts the school as the top non-selective school in Kirklees

  • Attendance Reward

    10th September 2018 - Manor Croft Academy

    This academic year the attendance reward trip will be to Flamingo Land.  Attendance from 10/09/18 to 24/05/19 will count.  Those students achieving 100% will be eligible to attend the trip free of charge.  Students with 97 to 99.9% will go for a subsidised price.  Students with attendance above 95% can attend the trip but will have to pay full price.  The trip will take place during the summer term.

  • Y5 & 6 Open Evening

    7th September 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    We'd like to invite Year 5 and 6 students and their parents to our open evening on Tuesday 2nd October.  There is an opportunity to visit and see the academy in action from 9am to 10am or to join us in the evening from 6pm to 7:30pm for a series of taster lessons.

  • SATs Results 2018

    We are delighted to celebrate the achievement of our Year 6 pupils SATs results.  Our results this year are significantly above National with 79% of our children achieving the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths against the national of 64%.  This is a fantastic achievement, that has only been achieved through the positive learning behaviours, dedication and commitment of our children, staff and parents working in partnership to pursue excellence in all aspects of our work.   We strive to provide
