  • General Knowledge Quiz

    22nd June 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    On Monday 18th June, Mrs Coates held a General Knowledge quiz for KS2! Two children (one boy and one girl) were selected to take part in the quiz. The teams were named after constellations (Pegasus, Pisces, Scorpius and Hercules). The crowd got flags to wave for their teams! Each team had four players. In Pegasus there were: Ben, Zoe, Sophie and William. There were four rounds; round 1, 2 and 3 were about things we’ve learnt this year and round 4 was about general knowledge.

  • KS1 Football

    21st June 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    On Monday 18th June our KS1 football squad attended the Garforth Schools Football Tournament. It was the first time we've taken two teams to the competition which was exciting. The children had trained hard for sometime prior to match day and really enjoyed the opportunity to compete against other local schools. Both of our two teams played with great spirit and determination - they never let their heads go down whatever the score was. Lots of great goals were scored and there was also some super defending.

    Wednesday 20th June was School Games Day at Green Lane. The day was designed to be a celebration of P.E learning during the year. With a carousel set up, children were able to try a range of different sporting activities. It was great to have the whole school involved from EYFS to Year 6 - the playing fields were packed full with physically active Green Laners everywhere you looked!

  • Oxford inspires students

    21st June 2018 - The Vale Academy

    Hard work and determination will pay off students from The Vale Academy were told during a day trip to Oxford University.

    The Year 8 and 9 students heard that background and class were no longer barriers to applying for one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious universities.

    Party leader, English teacher Nicola Elvin, said that, upon arrival in the historic city, students were impressed with just how beautiful it was.

    Reception had a fantastic day at The Butterfly House on Monday. They saw lots of animals and even got the chance to hold some minibeasts!

  • Doncaster Athletics Legends!

    20th June 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Students from the academy have been competing in the Doncaster Athletics Competition at the KeepMoat Stadium over the last couple of days with some fantastic results. 

    Ben Liversidge came 3rd in the 100m.

    Ilana Ridsdel - Doncaster 100m champion

    Jordan Poulston - Doncaster 800m champion (potential track record for the schools event with a time of 2 minutes 10 seconds).  

    1500m girls Georgia Hilton came 5th overall in Doncaster

    1500m boys Danny Bagshaw came 6th overall in Doncaster

  • Peer Mentoring

    19th June 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

     Peer Mentoring for Active Prevention of Smoking

    Thirteen Year 8 students were chosen as influential by their peers. These students were then offered to participate in a 2 day training course for peer mentoring at The Crown Hotel Bawtry by Notts Youth Service to learn about the facts on ‘Smoking’. The students really enjoyed the experience and were shocked at some of the facts that they learnt.

  • Fountains Abbey: In the Footsteps of Turner

    19th June 2018 - The Grove Academy

    It is 200 years since Turner painted his famous painting of Huby Tower.  KS3 pupils captured this scene using, pastels and then watercolours in two differing works.  This was done in a Friday Challenge before they went on the trip.

    This afternoon the Junior and Senior girls Athletics teams have qualified for the Leeds Schools Athletics Finals at South Leeds Stadium.
    This is a fantastic achievement for both the teams, as they try and become the two best girls Athletics teams in Leeds. The finals take place on Tuesday 26th June 2018, starting at 4pm - everyone welcome.

    18th June 2018 - The Elland Academy

    Year 10 students visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster on Wednesday 13th June 2018.

    Yorkshire Wildlife Park creates a dynamic, interactive experience and centre of excellence for the conservation and welfare of animals and promotes a wider understanding of the natural world and inspires generations to support and protect the world around them. The park has over 400 animals and 70 different species.

  • Castleford Tigers 9's Competition

    On Wednesday the 13th June, Years 7 and 9 rugby teams took part in the Castleford Tigers 9s competition. It was a brilliant day featuring numerous schools taking part.
     
    Year 9 got to the final and put in a brilliant performance, unfortunately they lost, 3 try’s to 1.
     
    Year 7 won the whole competition without losing a single match for the full day. This has gained them a place in the National Rugby 9s competition in Warrington on Thursday  5th July.
