Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Academy re-opens Monday 8 January 2018

    5th January 2018 - Garforth Academy

    Thank you for your support over the last few days.  Fortunately the engineers have successfully identified and repaired the breaches in the heating system and final work will be completed over the weekend.  As a result of this, school will be open as normal to students from 8.10am Monday 8th January and it will be a normal day.

    The academy will open fully to all pupils on Monday 8th January. Breakfast club opens at 8am as usual. 8.30 FS1 and everybody else 8.45.

    The academy now offers breakfast in the morning for all students from 8AM.

    Students who are entitled to free school meals will receive this at no charge.

  • Snow and bad weather

    In the event of bad weather it is always the priority of the academy to remain open and as such the site team will work to ensure that the site is both accessible and safe.

    There are however rare instances where the academy might not be able to open as normal as a result of severe weather. In such instances any changes to the usual opening arrangements will be communicated by a text system to let parents know if the academy is closed due to bad weather.   • Enforced Closure: 3rd-5th January

    29th December 2017 - Garforth Academy

    Unfortunately, over the Christmas break we have experienced a significant breach in the heating system. Due to the Christmas holidays, engineers will not be on site until Tuesday January 2nd to investigate the damaged pipework, and then depending on what they find, repairs will then need to take place. Consequently, whilst the repairs are taking place the Academy will be without heating and one of the main pathways may need to be dug up. Therefore the Academy will be closed Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th Janua

    Dear all,

    We have finally come to the end of the autumn term and it has been a very busy time for us all. 

    In the run up to Christmas we have experienced Beauty and the Beast pantomime, enterprise day, carol concerts, nativity plays and going out to sing in the community as well as Christmas parties and a visit from Santa!

    I think we all deserve a lovely rest now before we    return on Monday 8th January.

    Students from all year groups celebrated 100% attendance in December by dancing the night away at our Christmas Attendance Party.  The students were really pleased to see our special guest: Father Christmas. A great time was had by all, especially when students had the chance to throw snowballs at Father Christmas when he spent time in the stocks!

    Ash Hill Academy Sixth Form students arranged a very special event to raise money for Blue Bell Wood Children's Hospice.  Students and staff made donations to take part in the event which put a smile on everybody's face during the last day of term.  Donations are still coming in, but a huge amount had already been raised at the time of writing.

    Year KS3 students were asked to take part in a competion to design the Ash Hill Academy Christmas Card. It could be designed using any media but must be A5 in size and have a clear image so it can be printed and made in to the active academy Christmas Card 2017.

    Throughout the academy we are working hard to develop our  pupils’ knowledge and use of rich vocabulary.

    With this in mind we have recently introduced a new vocabulary initiative ‘It’s Only words’.
