  • Year 3 - 4 York Chocolate Factory Visit (Mon)

    19th March 2018 - Macaulay Primary Academy

    On Monday 19th March, the first Year 3 & 4 trip to York Chocolate Factory went ahead. We had a fantastic time learning all about how chocolate is made, the history of it and we even had a chance to make some chocolate ourselves too! The tour was amazing, we had a wonderful time!

    The second trip for Year 3 & 4 to visit the York Chocolate Factory will be taking place on Friday 23rd March.

  • Young Achiever of the Year!

    19th March 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Congratulations to Archie Atkins Sloan who has won the Disability Sport Yorkshire Young Achiever of the Year Award.

    He was in the same category as people who won gold medals at the World Para Championships last summer.

    The citation about him reads 'This cricketer is an important member of the Yorkshire Terriers team, the first name on the team sheet.  As a cricketer in the mould of Bairstow (Jonny and David).  He has gone beyond dispability sport and also plays adult cricket for Haxey Cricket Club in the Lin

  • Regional Mock Trial

    19th March 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    11 Y8 and Y9 students attended the Regional Mock trials competition to represent the academy at the weekend and performed fantastically well with the judges having nothing but good praise.  A particular well done to Sam Wilkinson in Y9 who was told by the judges that if he was old enough he would have been offered a job working as an Usher at Sheffield Magistrates Court.

  • Doncaster Youth Voice Summit

    19th March 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    On Friday afternoon six of our student council representatives attended the Doncaster Youth Voice Summit to represent RASA.  The afternoon was hugely succesful and allowed our students to put forward ideas and also take on board other ideas to help further students education at RASA and across Doncaster.

    The students behaviour and enthusiasm was excellent and they represented the academy supperbly.

    We look forward to hearing more about their findings.

    Year one had to sort materials that were magnetic and non-magnetic and then they investigated what would happen if they added mentos to coke and wrote instructions on the process.

    Well done to Nathan in 8DP, who has just completed the Serlby Park Reading Challenge by reading all twenty books in this year's challenge.

    18th March 2018 - St Wilfrid's Academy

    On Friday 16th March a group of KS3 students visited the Manchester Space Institute to see British Astronaut Tim Peak's Soyuz return capsule and space suit. Everyone was taken aback by how small the capsule actually was, considering it was for a three man crew. After the presentation, we visited the Robot exhibition, which featured a Terminator and a Shakesperian robot, who could quote the baird in 23 languages!   • SWA STEM day

    18th March 2018 - St Wilfrid's Academy

    Students at SWA have brought Science, maths and technology to life, in our most recent STEM day.  Groups worked vertically to create slime, conduct Corn starch experiments, attempt Plastic milk production, complete the Egg drop challenge and try their hand at Water transfer engineering. 

  • The author Ally Sherrick visits Green Lane

    17th March 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    We were very excited to welcome Ally Sherrick, the author of the Y6 book, Black Powder, to Green Lane on Thursday 15th March. Ally delivered writing workshops to Year 5 and Year 6, captivated the children during a KS2 assembly and carried out a book signing. It was a wonderful day at Green Lane.

  • Student excels during Pi Day celebrations

    16th March 2018 - John Whitgift Academy

    Pi Day is celebrated on March 15th around the world.  Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

    Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point and Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorise. One John Whitgift student, Niamh Clarke, has managed to memorise it to 104 decimal places! A very impressive feat!

  • ‘Write’ job to meet celebrities

    16th March 2018 - The Vale Academy


    Fascinating stories from a career covering sport proved inspirational to The Vale Academy’s Year 8 Scholars’ Programme students.

    Former BBC journalist Charles Runcie told stories of meeting icons such as David Beckham, Michael Owen and Sebastian Coe when he visited the school to discuss his life and career.

    Charles has travelled the world doing something he loves: writing.

    One time Head of Sport for BBC English Regions, he has covered many sports events in places such as Beijing, Barcelona and South Africa.
