  • PARIS TRIP 2018

    11th October 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    As part of our Modern Foreign Languages course, Mr Seddon is organising a Paris Trip in July of 2018. The visit will take in such sites as:

    - The Paris Catacombs

    - The Eiffel Tower

    - Disneyland Paris

    - The Louvre Museum

    Furthermore, students will have plenty of opportunity to explore the city, and get a real taste of Parisian living.   • Shepherding duties begin

    11th October 2017 - De Warenne Academy

    Shepherding is one of the unique enrichment opportunities on offer here at De Warenne Academy. Students have the opportunity to learn how to look after the flock of sheep that live in a paddock outside of the academy. Many students take part in this activity and they regularly comment on how this is the only time they have seen or interacted with livestock.

    When the sheep have lambs the students ensure they are looked after, some lambs have even been bottle fed by our students.

  • ACADEMY PARENTS' EVENING

    10th October 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    The academy will be holding an All Years Parents’ Evening on Tuesday 17th October 2017, from 3.00pm to 7.00pm. This will offer both students and their families a chance to check on progress made so far this term, as well as discuss next steps for the coming term.

    We look forward to seeing you on the evening.

  • Foundation Harvest Festival

    10th October 2017 - Macaulay Primary Academy

    Foundation Stage enjoyed a lovely harvest service that including a story about being thankful and the importance of sharing. The children were very generous with their donations, which all went to St Andrew’s hospice. They loved the beautiful harvest bread wheatsheaf, kindly baked and donated by Morrisons. Dave the scarecrow came along too and really enjoyed the singing.

  • RESTART A HEART DAY

    10th October 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    On Monday 16th October 2017, all Year 7 students will be participating in the ‘European Restart a Heart Day’ activities, promoted and supported by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. The aim of the day is to enable young people to recognise the signs of Cardiac Arrest, and equip them with basic life support skills. The activities will take place between 08.30am and 12.30pm for Year 7 students.

  • KS1 & KS2 Harvest Festival

    10th October 2017 - Macaulay Primary Academy

    Key stages 1 and 2  enjoyed a lovely harvest service that including poems and prayers written by some of the children and some artwork by key stage 1. We were joined by the Rev Jan from Grimsby minster who talked about the importance of being thankful of sharing. The children were very generous with their donations, which all went to St Andrew’s hospice. Everyone admired  the beautiful harvest bread wheatsheaf, kindly baked and donated by Morrisons.

  • Year 5 Tropical World Visit

    Year 5 enjoyed an exciting visit to the Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife And Falconry Centre in Sheffield. We saw a variety of animals and creatures from meerkats to stick insects, owls to butterflies and everything in between!

  • Doncaster CAST theatre visits the academy

    10th October 2017 - De Warenne Academy

    Chris from CAST Youth Theatre visited the Drama Club on Monday night to run a taster session of what students could expect if they they signed up to one of the groups. The De Warenne Academy drama club is made up of over 30 students and staff who put together two high quality shows per year. Activities included those that rely on using the imagination of kids such as how to become a vending machine and an inaminate object.   • Year 8 Football : English Schools Cup

    10th October 2017 - Garforth Academy

    The  Year 8 boys played out an enthralling English Schools' cup tie at North Halifax Grammar this afternoon.
    The game ebbed and flowed from the first whistle, eventually finishing 4-4 to take the tie into extra time and then penalties. Garforth would eventually prevail 4-1 in the shoot out, Oliver V saving two of the opposition's spot kicks to send the boys into round three.

    The boys represented the Academy admirably, displaying fantastic team work, resilience and fighting spirit.

  • Year 10 Rugby Update

    10th October 2017 - Garforth Academy

    The Year 10 rugby team played really well tonight against Harrogate Grammar School, prevailing by 53 points to 5. They will play at home against the winners of Richmond School or Ilkley Grammar School at Garforth, the date is yet to be confirmed.

    Well done lads on some fantastic rugby and thank you to the staff who came down to watch the lads play.

     

  • Knights & Castle Day - Year 4

    10th October 2017 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    On Tuesday 10 October, Year 4 held a knights and castles day in school.  They learned about the 15th Century, castles, the War of the Roses and the plague.

     

    The children took part in various educational activities and had the chance to look at artefacts from the era.

  • Year 7 & 8 Halloween Disco

    9th October 2017 - Melior Community Academy

    The academy will be holding a Halloween themed school disco on Monday, 30th October from 5.30pm until 7pm.

    The ticket cost will be £2 which will include a soft drink. There will also be other items such as sweets available to purchase.

    Letters will be going home with students this week and we ask that completed permission slips are enclosed with payment and left in our drop box.

    8th October 2017 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    Last week Radio Humberside made a surprise appearance at our academy. They spoke to several children about the delights of Hull Fair. This included their favourite sights, smells and memories of the fair. As a result of this, Look North asked to attend our Hull Fair themed lunch on Friday afternoon to find out more about our tasty lunches. Camera crews filmed our exciting lunch and interviewed several children for Friday nights programme.
