    After a successful Autumn/Winter program of activities for the daily Enrichment sessions, we would like to thank both students and staff for their involvement. This program of activities will close on Thursday 15th December at 3.30pm, with the new Spring 17 Program to be announced shortly.

  • 'The Witches' Trip

    14th December 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    As part of a unit celebrating the life of Roald Dahl, following what would have been his 100th birthday, seventy-four of our Year 7 students joined all of the excited teachers in the English Department to travel to The West Yorkshire Playhouse on Wednesday 14th December to view a theatre production of Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’.  It was a fantastic day out!

  • Year 11 Prefects Christmas Trip

    14th December 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    To reward our Year 11 Prefects for their hard work this year Mr Hewitt, Vice Principal and Mrs Frizzel, Key Stage 4 Learning Manager invited them all to the Red Hot World Buffet in Leeds on Wednesday afternoon.  The students who are ambassadors for the Academy perform duties to support the smooth running of the Academy during break and lunchtime everyday.  They thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and some even visited the buffet over 10 times!  Well done to all our prefects you are a credit to our Academy.

    After a recent visit to Sheffield Hallam University, we were very happy to receive a message of thanks from their Pre 16 Engagement Coordinator, Mr J Wilmshurst.

    Mr Wilmshurst sent thanks to both the students and staff via Mrs Welch, for being such wonderful guests of Sheffield Hallam University – “Thank you for visiting us last week, we really enjoyed hosting you and you were a great bunch of pupils, parents and teachers to work with…I hope you enjoyed the visit as much as we did.”

  • Year 3 Christmas Musical - Hey Ewe

    13th December 2016 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    Year 3 will be performing a musical called Hey Ewe.  This year they will be putting on two productions.  Tuesday 13 December at 9.30am and Wednesday 14 December at 2.15pm. 


    Parents can get tickets from the school office, but due to the large year group we have to limit the tickets to two per child.  Allocation of spare tickets will be drawn on a lotter basis.


    On Tuesday 13th the school hall will be open from 9.00am for parents to have a drink and a mince pie and and on Wednesday 14th, after the performance

  • Design a Christmas Jumper Competition

    13th December 2016 - Serlby Park Academy

    Congratulations to the primary winners of this year's Christmas competition.

    Over 150 pupils took part and produced some amazing festive jumpers.

    The prizes for secondary pupils will be awarded during our celebration assembly on Friday.

    Thank you to Miss Seagrave and Miss Broughton who acted as the judges.

  • Hour of the Code

    13th December 2016 - The Vale Academy

    Y8 took part in the 2016 UK Hour of Code on Monday 12/12/16.   

    Students and parents of Y8 used their crafting and coding skills to design and make a programmable Christmas Card in an hour.   

     The Christmas card contained a simple electronic circuit that was controlled via students’ BBC Micro:bit and then programmed using Python or PXT Block Editor. 

     It was a highly successful hour; thank you to Mr Burrin, Mr Kerr and sixth form Computer Science students who organised and supported the event.

  • History Trip to Leeds Armouries

    12th December 2016 - Hull Trinity House Academy

    On Monday 5th December, the History Department took 64 year 7 students to Leeds Armouries.

    The boys took part in two workshops. The first allowed students to delve into the world of the medieval knights. Students discussed how armours and weaponry had changed from 1066 to 1485. They had the opportunity to hold and put on the armour.

    The second session evolved around catapults and trebuchets experiments. the students were investigating how far they could aim using a variety of materials.


    12th December 2016 - Ash Hill Academy

    The Student and Academy Leadership Teams have agreed that it is important to support our community, especially at this festive time of year, and have chosen to show that support by fundraising for Save the Children with a Christmas Jumper Day.

    On Friday 16th December for the last day of term, students (and staff) at Ash Hill Academy may wear a Christmas Jumper with their uniforms, instead of the normal shirt and tie beneath their blazers – for a £1 donation to charity.

  • Five-a-side champions

    12th December 2016 - The Vale Academy

    All conquering Year 7 footballers will represent North Lincolnshire after winning a prestigious five-a-side competition.

    The nine boys won the county’s English Schools’ Football Association’s indoor competition after beating a host of North Lincolnshire schools.

     They topped their league and then went on to beat St Bede’s  2-0 in quarter final; Brumby 2-0 in semi final; and Fred Gough 1-0 in the final.

     The trophy adds to their unbeaten in the league since starting at the Vale Academy.

  • Rugby success

    12th December 2016 - The Vale Academy

     Phenomenal interest in rugby is seeing more than 30 girls attending weekly training in Scunthorpe.

    It comes after Years 8 to 10 have been taking part in the sport this half term during their PE lessons.

     Mrs Emma Taylor said: “The interest has been amazing, with more than 30 girls travelling to Heslam Park, the home of Scunthorpe Rugby Club, on a Thursday night.

     “We have entered four teams in the Under 13s and Under 15s North Lincolnshire touch rugby tournament and three teams very recently in the transition

  • Year 10 Football Victory

    12th December 2016 - Garforth Academy

    The Year 10 footballers progressed to the last 32 schools in England with a 3-1 win at Healing School, Grimsby.


    Garforth started the game positively and had numerous opportunities to take the lead but found Healing’s goalkeeper in fantastic form. However, if you keep banging on the door it will eventually open and Kasim M took full advantage of a loose ball at the right hand side of the area and smashed it into the roof of the net.
