    Congratulations to all students who participated in our library Book Review Competition; the standard of the reviews this year was amazing!

    The sixteen winning year 7 students were able to select one of the exciting new books from the 2016 Bookbuzz range and were delighted with their prizes!

  • Drug and alcohol awareness

    5th January 2017 - The Elland Academy
    Just before we broke up for the festive break students took part in a drop down afternoon which covered sessions which fouced on tobacco/smoking, drugs and alcohol. During the sessions students had opportunities to discuss these areas in circle times, create posters and research on the impact of each topic. Feedback was outstanding and proves that the practical activities during these sessions were the most popular with students who were involved.
  • Welcome to new era

    5th January 2017 - The Vale Academy

    Welcome to a new year and new era at The Vale Academy.

    We have moved into our fabulous £13.9-million new building, accessed via our new entrance off Atherton Way.

    It gives students and teachers the state-of-the-art facilities they deserve, said Principal Nicola Williams.

    “We’re delighted to welcome our students and staff to our new building. I’d like to thank the team who have worked tirelessly throughout the Christmas holidays, packing and unpacking, to ensure the move is as smooth as possible,” she said.



    4th January 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    The academy will be holding a Year 8 Options Evening at 6pm on Tuesday 10th January. All parents and carers of Year 8 students are encouraged to attend, along with Year 8 students, to gain a better insight into the Options process. There be plenty of opportunity to speak with subject teachers about each course on offer next academic year, as well as chances to speak with careers advisors, and representatives from Leeds University about future career options.

    This event will be the start of the Year 8 Options

    The following is a message of thanks from Mrs Swainston regarding the Christmas Raffle:

    “I would like to thank people for their support and donations for the Christmas raffle last year, we raised an amazing £179 which will be going towards Year 11 Prom this year. First prize went to Mrs. Williams and Bryce Thornton in Year 11 won the mince pie and coffee for 2 at Coffee at Number 4.   • Accelerated Reader Update

    3rd January 2017 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Congratulations to students in Years 7,8 and 9 who have been devouring books since September.  They have managed to read over 9 million words so far this year meaning they are well on their way towards their target of 20 million words.

    Special congratulations go to Daniel Butler and Lukas Petravicious who were the star readers for their own particular years.

    Every time students pass a quiz they are entered into a raffle and this terms winners were Armand Miftari and Brandon Lewin.

  • Young Writers Poetry Competition

    Pupils from KS1 have recently taken part in a fantastic poetry writing competition entitled 'Poetry Safari'.

    Well done to everyone who took part.Many pupils took part and several of the poems have now been selected for publication and will appear in a  brand new book called 'Poetry Safari - Yorkshire Poets' which is due to be published in April 2017. Copies of the book will be available to purchase at a cost of £15.99 during the summer term from www.youngwriters.co.uk

  • Bluebell Wood Donation

    25th December 2016 - Rowena Academy

    This year the Academy Council suggested that instead of sending Christmas cards to each other the staff made donations to Bluebell Wood. The staff thought this was a good idea and the Academy Council collected donations of £88.06 from the adults in school.
