  • The General Election Comes to Serlby Park

    5th June 2017 - Serlby Park Academy

     

    All this week our primary pupils will have a chance to cast their vote in the upcoming General Election when they visit our library, which has been turned into a mock 'Polling Station' for this very special event on June 8th.

    Pupils will learn all about the UK's democratic voting process, the political parties and their manifestos before casting their own vote in a polling booth and placing them in a ballot box.

    The Thrive Approach draws on insights from these fields to provide a powerful way of working with children and young people that supports optimal social and emotional development. In particular, the Approach equips you to work in a targeted way with children and young people who have struggled with difficult life events to help them re-engage with life and learning.

    'Super Mums - Thankful Thoughts' - National Poetry Competition Winners

    Congratulations to everyone who entered the  'Young Writers -  Mother's Day Poetry Competition' which was organised by our library staff.
    Fifty-six  poems from Serlby Park Primary pupils have been selected by the judges to appear in a brand new book all about 'Mums'.
    The book is scheduled for publication in August 2017 and will be available to order on-line from www.youngwriters.co.uk .

    Has The Vale got The Voice?

    Two talented students have won through to the regional audition stages of the popular television show.

    Heather Peers (pictured) and Beth Gibson (below) impressed two producers from the ITV show when they turned up at the academy to film hopefuls.

    Both know there is a long way to go before a chance of appearing on the small screen but were delighted to have made it through to the next stage, said curriculum leader for music Jayne Keeler.
