  • OCTOBER ATTENDANCE COMPETITION

    As our latest attendance competition has now begun, please find details below:

    For all students who attend every day at the academy, from Monday 2nd October 2017 to Thursday 26th October 2017, they will receive a reward from the spooky prizes on offer!

    The foremost prize for Years 7 & 8 will be entry to a Halloween Disco, to be held between 5.00pm and 7.00pm on Thursday 26th October 2017. At the disco there will be - prizes for best fancy dress, and prizes for best pumpkin (no candles!)

  • Macmillan Coffee Morning and Jeans for Genes

    4th October 2017 - The Grove Academy

    The Grove Academy started its annual round of fund raising on Friday 29th September by joining in the biggest coffee morning in the world – the Macmillan Cancer Care Fund Raising Coffee Morning. Staff and pupils baked cakes and other goodies, which were served in the library (heavily disguised as a bijou bistro). Parents and other visitors were welcomed and took the opportunity to see their children’s work as well as enjoy the refreshments. All proceeds from this went to Macmillan Cancer Care.

  • Our Italian Job!

    4th October 2017 - The Vale Academy

    Fantastic memories were forged when geography students from The Vale visited Italy.

    The packed four-day agenda to the Bay of Naples included trips to the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, volcano Mount Vesuvius, picturesque Sorrento, Roman remains at Herculaneum, and a tour of the volcanic Phlegraean fields area.

    Visit leader Richard Hughes said it was a memorable few days.

    We are delighted to say that in September 2017 OFSTED graded the school as GOOD with OUTSTANDING leadership. We are so proud to be shaping our children’s future in such a positive way.   • Y11 INTERVENTION LAUNCHED

    3rd October 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    In the final week of September 2017, we officially launched the Year 11 Intervention sessions for 2017/18. These sessions are designed to enhance the support given to our Year 11 students as they move through their final year of studies for the GCSE exams. Each curriculum area has been assigned a specific night to deliver these Intervention sessions, so that students are not overloaded with information, but receive the right support at the right time.

    Well done to our 'Kids can Cook' group who had a great time making kofta today. There were lots of happy faces as they took their kofta home to try.

  • Harvest Festival

    A huge thank you to everyone who sent in items for our special Harvest Festival Assembly. The response was incredible. All the donations were colledted by Doncaster Foodbank charity in Doncaster.

  • Serlby Park Reading Challenge 2017/2018

    We are delighted to announce the launch of our brand new Reading Challenge.
     
    There are four fantastic new books in each guided colour band for our pupils to choose from including traditional tales, classic fiction, information books, graphic novels, folk tales and even the popular steampunk.
     
    Last year was the most successful yet with 106 pupils achieving 'Gold Level'. We are hoping that even more children will enjoy reading this year and receive a fantastic prize next summer if they manage to read all twen

    We would like to say a huge thank you to Pete Johnson, the award winning author of over 50 books for children, who paid a visit to Serlby Park Academy on the 27th September to launch his brand new book 'How to Fool Your Parents'.
     
    This was a very prestigious event for Serlby Park Academy, as we were chosen as the venue for a new book launch by this well known, international author and we look forward to working with Pete and his publishers again.

    3rd October 2017 - De Lacy Academy

     Colours week begins on Monday 16th October.

    Students will receive their colour pin badges for contributing to wider Academic life in assemblies all next week, look out for them on your child's blazer lapel.

  • France and Belgium Trip 2017

    2nd October 2017 - John Whitgift Academy

    Mr Bee (Head of Humanities), Mr Tuffnell (Learning & Consequences manager), Ms Hurst (LSA) & Mrs Heron (Custodian) all travelled with 47 students to the Somme Battlefields in France/Belgium. In 2016 Mr Tuffnell had visited as part of the 100 year centenary with two representatives of the academy and on return a further trip was organised with a larger group. The group of students consisted of a mixed range of year 7 – 11 students and excitement had been ongoing for several months prior to leaving.

    35 parents attended the EYFS stay and play in September. Thank you for all those that supported this event, it was very well received and we will be running many more over the academic year.

  • Extreme Reading Competition

    1st October 2017 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    WOW our Extreme reading competition was very popular and saw many children taking part. A huge thank you to all the children and parents that got involved, it was a great success. Welldone to the winner Archie Richardson from The Penguins class. He was photographed reading Tiddler - the storytelling fish with his sister Grace at the top of Hallin Fell in the Lake District.
