    when twenty year six pupils joined the “Story of Parliament” tour this week.

  • Reading Challenge Gold Award Ceremony

    19th July 2017 - Serlby Park Academy

    This morning ninety-seven of our primary pupils received their much awaited Gold Award during a special assembly to celebrate the importance of reading.

    These hard working pupils have all read at least eighteen books from the Serlby Park Reading Challenge and we are very proud of their achievements.

    This has been the most successful year yet for our Reading Challenge and we are looking forward to the launch of our brand new reading challenge in the Autumn Term.

  • Year 6 Uniform Collection

    19th July 2017 - Melior Community Academy

    Delivery has now been taken of our Year 6 uniform packs and can be collected from tomorrow, Thursday 20th July 9am until 1pm. Please note that these packs DO NOT CONTAIN TIES due to delayed deliveries at SPT uniforms.

    Ties will be distributed on the first day of term (Wednesday, 6th September) to students when they arrive.

    For any parent unable to collect their packs tomorrow, collections can be made on the following dates/times:

    Today, students across all year groups took part in assemblies featuring guest speakers from the British Transport Police - PCSO Gary Poulson & SPC Jake Everitt, organised by Mr Reynolds.

    After introductions to students, PCSO Gary Poulson asked if students had heard of the British Transport Police, or the London Bridge Train Station, to which only one or two replied positively.     This year our Sports Day will be held on Wednesday 19th July 2017. All students are required to attend in full PE Kit (not normal uniform), with the order of the day being:

    08:20am - 08:25am Arrive at the academy and directed to first session

    A massive well done to all our Nursery Children and Little Grangers who recently managed to walk half a mile to raise money for the Barnardo's charity.

     

  • Careers Day

    18th July 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Tuesday 18th July, Year 10 students worked with National and International businesses to prepare for the competitive world of work.  They completed a rigourous assessment centre before being put through a competancy based interview, detailed feedback was given.  The day ended with students presenting to 'Dragons' and being grilled over their business ideas.  All the organisations involved will be back next year to complete a follow up programme with the students involved.

    18th July 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    The sun was shining on another successful Manor Croft Academy Sports Day.  Forms in Years 7, 8 and 9 competed in Football, Netball, Benchball, Badminton and Rounders in the morning and athletic events and a tug of war in the afternoon.  The theme this year was countries and the staff and students did not disappoint!  The winners on the day were… 7MHA, 8TRE and 9JYO.  Congratulations to everyone who took part in a fantastic day!

  • West Yorkshire Fire Service - Road Safety

    17th July 2017 - The Elland Academy

    Last week we were visited by West Yorkshire fire service who spoke and in some cases shocked our students in regards to consequences relating to car safety.

    The facts about seatbelts

    • In a crash you're twice as likely to die if you don't wear a seatbelt.
    • Drivers and passengers aged 17-34 have the lowest seatbelt-wearing rates combined with the highest accident rate.
    • There is evidence that people are less likely to use seatbelts on short or familiar journeys - this puts them at serious risk of injury in a crash.

    17th July 2017 - Serlby Park Academy
     
    Congratulations to Maille in Year 4 who has received a runner up prize in a national story writing competition organised by the WWF.
     
    Over 1000 entries were received and we are delighted and proud that Maille's story about a lost tiger has been selected by the judges as one of the best in the country.
     
    Maille was presented with a Cuddly Tiger and a WWF Goody Bag. Well done Maille!
