  • Attendance October Challenge

    29th September 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    As part of our ongoing attendance initiatives, Monday will see us roll out our October Challenge to all forms.  Every form who has 97% or above attendance throughout the month of October will be able to have a non-uniform day in November!  This means that each form needs to work together to ensure that their form attendance is above 97% FOR THE WHOLE OF OCTOBER - Monday 2nd October right up until Friday 20th October.  Only those forms who have 97% during this period will be eligable to participate in the no

  • MacMillan Coffee Morning

    29th September 2017 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    On Friday 29 September, in the afternoon, we invited parents and carers to come into school for the MacMillan Coffee Morning.  Many parents had donated lots of cakes and buns.  We raised £155.39 for MacMillan nurses.

    Key Stage 1 have been learning all about special times as part if the RE work. The Rev Katherine from Grimsby minster came in to talk about Christian baptism. She even role-played baptising the class teddy bear so that we could all experience what a baptism is like.

  • Year 10 Rugby Success

    28th September 2017 - Garforth Academy

     

    The Year 10 Rugby League team won the Leeds Schools Championships tonight. Many congratulations to the team. There were eight schools in the tournament and the boys showed fantastic commitment throughout the event.

    The school will now go on to represent Leeds in the Yorkshire Championships.

    It is very exciting to see our collaborative banners are starting to be put up around school!
     
    Towards the end of last year, year 7 and 8 pupils were involved in a large Art and English project. Pupils wrote inspiring sentences that they would like to see around school.
    After some tough deliberation, pupils selected 3 key sentences to be made into banners for our school.

  • 'A Street Cat Named Bob'

    Congratulations to all the winners in our latest library competition, which was inspired by the heart warming story of Bob the homeless cat by James Bowen.
     
    This delightful and thought provoking picture book was voted Serlby Park's favourite children's book in 2015 and has once again proved to be a firm favourite with our younger pupils.
    Well done to everyone who took part and created their very own 'street cat'.

  • Bookbuzz 2017

    Bookbuzz 2017 was launched in the library this week to all our pupils in Year 7 and 8

    Once again the children’s charity ‘Booktrust’ have carefully selected a fantastic collection of twelve children’s books which our Year 7 and 8 can choose from to read and keep.

     The books will be funded from this year’s library budget.

    The books are available to school at the reduced cost of £3.00 per book.

  • Peer Mentoring

     Introduction

    Our Peer Mentoring Scheme was set up in April 2017and from then it has gone from strength to strength.

    In the summer term Year 9 students are invited to apply for the role of “Peer Mentor” and following a rigorous interview process 12 are selected. They then take part in various training sessions in order to develop their skills and prepare them for their Peer Mentoring roles.

    On 18th September, our Post 16 students met with Debbie Burton, Partnership and Engagement Officer from Doncaster Council.  Debbie led a presentation on The Doncaster Youth Council.

    The Youth Council are a diverse group of local young people (aged 11-19) who want to ensure the voices of the young people in Doncaster are heard.  They provide a forum for young people to have a voice on the things that matter, highlighting issues that affect young people.  The Youth Council represent and communicate the views o
