    Today Y5 and Y6 perfomed a Ukulele concert to Y3 and Y4 as well as parents and carers. It was fantastic. Well done everyone. We can see real progress!

    9th December 2016 - The Parks Academy

    Friday was Christmas Jumper Day. The academy council decided to ask for donations for Save The Children. Also, they ran a competition. Each class chose thier winning jumper and then the Academy Council chose an overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The winner had Merry Christmas written in many languages on the back! Wonderful.

    We raised £128.

  • History Homework

    9th December 2016 - Hull Trinity House Academy

    Year 9 students had to create a historical accurate World War One trench for their study of warfare. The quality of the work was fabulous. Students used many different materials, varying from clay, plaster of Paris, wood to expanding foam.


    All boys had clearly put a lot of time and effort into their projects. Our principal, Mrs Keaney, and the Subject Leader of History, Mr Currie, chose the four best trenches. The winners are:

    • 1st Sam Robinson
    • 2nd Wisam Sheri
    • 3rd Will Huyton / James Stewart

    9th December 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    Numeracy is a proficiency, which is developed mainly in mathematics but also in other subjects.  It is more than an ability to do basic arithmetic.  It involves developing confidence and competence with numbers and measures. It requires understanding of the number system, a repertoire of mathematical techniques, and an inclination and ability to solve quantitative or spatial problems in a range of contexts.  Numeracy also demands understanding of the ways in which data are gathered by counting and measuring

    What a wonderful morning we have had a Craven today. We were not going to let the weather dampen our festive spirit! Christingle went ahead at the Academy and the whole Academy was filled with the children's beautiful voices singing their chirstmas songs!

    Year 6 did an amazing job singing with their Christingles! Well done!

  • Read Write Inc. Fresh Start Training

    8th December 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    This week (Thursday & Friday) we are very pleased to be hosting the Read Write Inc. Fresh Start training in our Achievement Centre at Manor Croft. Read Write Inc. Fresh Start is a teaching programme that is very successful in supporting older readers aged 9 and above who are below expected standards in reading and writing.  The training is being attended by our English teachers and the teaching support team.

    Fresh Start is a full teaching programme that:

    • Gets all children reading and writing fluently in 33


    7th December 2016 - Ash Hill Academy

    Mrs Whitter would like to thank the Year 11 Art & Design and Photography students, for attending a studio support session to work on final major outcomes, for their course work portfolios. An amazing up take for the evening resulted in 38 students attending until 6.30pm! She would also like to thank the Art and Photography staff, for supporting with this very successful evening of achievement.

    6th December 2016 - The Elland Academy
    The hardy Elland team took to the pitch once again in temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, except this week we also had thick fog to contend with. However, that didn't stop our players enjoying the activity. 

    We began with a successful game of tanks as a warm up, we certainly needed it! Then it was in to the main event, we had a new addition this week and he dazzled us with his diving skills. They may have been a rumour that he was on the oscar shortlist with some of his moves. But in all fairness

    Our recent MacMillan Coffee morning raised £262.70 through the sale of cakes and drinks.

  • Children In Need

    6th December 2016 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    In November we had a non-uniform day to raise money for Children in Need.  We held it at then end of anti-bullying week and the children could come to school to in their own clothes, but to incorporate something blue, for 50p.  We raised £167 for Children in Need


    6th December 2016 - Ash Hill Academy

    In order to raise funds for the Year 11 End of year Ball, there will be a Christmas Raffle held in the Learner Achievement Centre (LAC) on Wednesday 14th December. Tickets are available now from Year 11 students at Break and Lunch times or from the Personal Learning Centre (DV13), priced at just 20p per ticket, or £1 for a strip of tickets.

    The prizes have been donated from a variety of sources within our very supportive community, including:

  • Badminton Stars

    6th December 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    Tuesday, 6th December, saw 16 Manor Croft students head over to St John Fisher and Westborough High Schools to compete in the u14 and u16 Kirklees Schools Badminton qualifiers.  It was the first time that Manor Croft had entered teams in the event so the 8 boys and 8 girls that made up the teams were unsure about what to expect. They needn't have worried as they all performed brilliantly and were more than a match for many of the schools competing.  The students, from Years 9-11, displayed excellent skill,

  • School choir visits Dr Anderson's Lodge

    6th December 2016 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    As per school tradition, on the 6th December our Key Stage 2 choir visited Dr Anderson's Lodge to entertain the residents with some Christmas carols.  We shared some traditional and more modern songs including Calypso Carol.  We had a wonderful time and the residents gave some wonderful feedback.  We are looking forward to returning in 2017!
