    On the Friday afternoon of the 13th of May 16, the year 11s had challenged the staff for a football match. There had been talk of who the better players were and after school, all roads led to the Middleton Sports Centre grounds.

    Mr McLeod was Captain for the staff our very own Morgan Bell was Captain for the students. The Kick off began with 5 aside which soon built up to seven.

    THE ELLAND ACADEMY BIDS AN EMOTIONAL FAREWELL TO YEAR 11’S 

    Friday the 13th of May was an emotional day at the Academy.  The Exam season was here and with it arrived a high level of anxiety of our students.  Staff went out to ensure students were well prepared and calm to deal with the task ahead.  But today was different.  Ms Ngondi the Head of Academy had called for a special Year 11 assembly to officially usher in the personalised revision timetable and the onset of exams.  It was an emotional moment.

    On the 10th May all our year 9 boys attended an ACE day at the University of Hull. The ACE day aims to address some of the misconceptions students have about university. It's designed to increase awareness of further and higher education and to raise aspirations.

    It was a day of fun-based activities on campus, facilitated by undergraduates, they explored what it meant to be a university student and found out about the opportunities available to them.

    Well done to our Vocal Harmony Group and Elite Dancers who performed at the annual South Bank Dance Showcase at Grimsby Auditorium.

    The event is funded through the South Bank Dance Hub and has been growing in strength over the past few years. As always, we are hugely proud of what our students achieved.

    A fantastic year for netball was crowned by three teams representing North Lincolnshire in the Humber Schools’ Games finals.

    The teams from Year 7, 8 and 10 travelled to St Mary’s College in Hull to take on the region’s best after winning their district competitions, held at St Bede’s in Scunthorpe.

    Lindsy James, Active Fusion Director, will attempt to set the world record for the fastest female to complete a half marathon whilst pushing a baby in a pram at the Derby Half Marathon on Sunday 5th June.

    Lindsy will be aiming to beat the existing world record of 1 hour 30 minutes and 51 seconds set in 2001 by the USA’s Nancy Schubring.
