    Students from Year 8 and Year 9 attended the regional Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) finals at Huddersfield University.  As part of the day they had to work collaboratively with other schools to...

    -Create an E-FIT image of a suspect from a crime

    -Use chemical tests to diagnose illnesses of the respiratory and urinary systems.

    Thank you to those staff members who helped out in Maths on Monday 23th May 2016 and others that really engaged in being challenged and beaten by the student’s high skills and ability.

    The students were awesome and brilliant all day, fully focused and determined to succeed.

    Every student and staff that entered the room left with a proud smile across their face and asked please sir can we stay for longer, others stayed during their break to try and accomplish their goals.

    Today the children in Reception saw a fire engine which came to visit school.We had chance to look at all the equipment, go and have a sit inside it and then we heard the really loud sirens and saw the flashing lights. 

  • Battle of the Somme Commemoration

    The Vale Academy honours those who fell at the Somme.  To mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, The Vale Academy is inviting students, parents and governors to take part in its commemoration event at the academy on Friday, 1st July 2016 at 7.15am.  The event is at this time to conicide with the time 100 years ago when the soldiers went 'over the top'.

    We would like to congratulate Nicola from the Meerkats class on writing her second published book. Nicola joined our Academy last year when she had already written her first book of her experiences of her life to that point. Since Nicola has joined the Academy we have been extremely proud of her resilience towards her learning and mobility, this is recognised by others as she has been nominated for a national diversity award.   • Handball hits new high

    7th June 2016 - The Vale Academy

    Students from The Vale Academy put North Lincolnshire on the handball map.

     

    The Olympic sport sees two teams of seven players - six outfield and a goalkeeper - pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.

    It was introduced in the PE curriculum last year and is popular, with a lunchtime club also well attended throughout the year.

     The under 13 and under 15 boys and girls’ teams represented North Lincolnshire in the East Midlands Schools’ Handball Tournament at Nott

  • Beeston Festival 2016

    6th June 2016 - The South Leeds Academy

    On Saturday 4th June, the annual Beeston Festival was held at Cross Flatts Park. The event, which is in its 22nd year, was a  fantastic opportunity for local residents to come together to enjoy great music and dance, sample the wonderful food prepared by local businesses and purchase goods from a vast array of sellers. This year, TSLA students opted to represent the academy by  selling photographs taken by students in the GCSE Photography class, and  key rings and magnets designed and created by the LEAP Bu

  • Cup triumph

    6th June 2016 - The Vale Academy

    The Vale Academy’s under 14 footballers came from a goal behind to beat Baysgarth School in the final of the Scunthorpe and District Cup.

    The Brigg side had beaten South Axholme Academy, Outwood Foxhills Academy and Frederick Gough School on their way to the final, played at Baysgarth in Barton.

    The final proved a close fought game against a very good Baysgarth team, said house leader Richard Hughes.

    6th June 2016 - John Whitgift Academy

    On Sunday 29th May 2016 30 members of the John Whitgift Community attended England v Wales rugby union international at Twickenham. On a glorious day the turn out was tremendous with over 81,000 people being the stadium. The likes of Mr Tuffnell, Mrs Sowerby, Miss Winn, Mrs Smith and Mr Burkill attended with Harrison Barrell being one of the students in attendance.
