Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • JWA at the Shine Media Awards

    22nd June 2016 - John Whitgift Academy
    On Tuesday 21st June three students from the JWA Journal Editorial Team were invited down to the Stationer's Hall in London to receive an award for the school's work on the newspaper.
     
    We were up against a large number of schools from around the country - all of whom had fantastic publications. However, we were highly commended for having the best newspaper and for having the best front cover of a newspaper.
     
    It was a great experience and we hope to be nominated again next year!
     
     
     
  • Hatfield Water Park - Year 5 annual visit

    22nd June 2016 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    As per Hatfield Woodhouse tradition, Year 5 visited the Hatfield water park this week!

    The aim of the visit was to focus on personal achievement and team-working skills.

    The children participated in high-rope and raft building activities.  They worked really hard and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones - physically and mentally.

    It was noted as being the "Best school trip ever!" - so it is safe to say that it was a success!

  • ICT RESULT SUCCESS!

    21st June 2016 - The Elland Academy

    Great news - All students have exceeded targets in ICT. 100% of students are leaving with 2 or more ICT qualifications! 89% of entered students achieved the Level 2 Certificate in IT Application Skills (ECDL) grades Distinction*, Distinction & Merit. 87% of students left with the Level 1 Award in E-Safety, 87% of all students left with the Functional Skills Entry 3 ICT qualification. 100% of all entered students left with the Functional Skills Level 1.

    Well done to our year 3 & 4 pupils who represented us at the competition held at St James Club.  Looks like Nutkin fancied a game as well!

  • Year 6 - London

    21st June 2016 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Year 6 had a fantastic day in London. We caught the 8:30am train from Doncaster and were in London by 10am. We loved travelling on the underground and pupils rated this as their favourite activity! We enjoyed a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament, we were wowed by Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. We had photos at horseguards parade and had a walk down the Mall to Buckingham Palace. The pupils were amazing and the staff and parents who came too were a fantatsic help. A good day all round.

  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    21st June 2016 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Our year 1 children went to visit Doncaster's Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The weather stayed fine and they were all able to tour the park, come up close to the animals and find out about each creature that lived there during the classroom activities.

  • Schools Will Rock You

    We are excited to announce that the time is almost upon us to perform our School production of Schools Will Rock You, inspired by the stage show and music of Queen. Tickets are available for all performances from the Academy reception.

  • Racial Justice

    Students in ICT and English have been exploring what Racial Justice means to them. Today Matthew has taken a photo to show what it means to him. "Racial justice is a proactive reinforcement of policies, attitudes and actions that produce equal access, opportunities, treatment, impacts and outcomes for all."

     

  • STEM Celebration

    20th June 2016 - Don Valley Academy

    On Wednesday 15th June a group of Year 9 and 10 students attended the STEM celebration in Rotherham to compete in an Engineering event.

    Students were showcasing work that they had been producing in the academy and were also able to compete to get their name on the tail of the Bloodhound land speed record car. Two of our pupils  managed to win this competition by building the air powered car that went the furthest.

     

  • Year 10 Catering Exam

    Congratulations to Year 10 for their fantastic efforts in their first practical catering exam. Some outstanding work was produced. Well done!

  • Orlando Shooting

    20th June 2016 - Melior Community Academy

    Miss Hopkins and the students in the English Department have been doing some work based around the shootings in Orlando.  They have addressed issues such as homophobia, whether guns should be illegal or not in America etc. The students did this so sensitively and maturely and the work they completed was fantastic. 

    The responses the students prepared will be sent to the nightclub in Florida. (see Below).

    Parents/Carers, I hope that you and your children have had a positive and enjoyable year at Wainwright Academy and that you can see that over the last year the school has achieved a number of key milestones. These include the results of the recent Ofsted inspection and the move to a fantastic new building, both of which would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of both our pupils and our staff.

  • Geography Fieldtrip to Malham

    17th June 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    63 Students from Year 10 attended the annual Geography fieldtrip to Malham on Friday 17th June 2016.  They were collecting data to use for their controlled assessment that will be submitted in 2017.  Students also completed a 5 mile hike to Janet’s Foss Waterfall, Gordale Scar and the world famous Malham Cove and limestone pavement.  Students were fantastic all day and a credit to the Academy.

  • What an amazing visit!

    16th June 2016 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    On Tuesday 14th June Olympic Athlete James Denny came and visited the Academy! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed his visit as he worked with each class on different circuits and gave an assembly to the whole academy.

    Our sponsored assault course will go ahead in due course.

  • Family Picnic 15th June

    A huge thank you to the dozens of families who came to our family picnic on Wednesday 15th June.

    A fantastic time was had by all and the sun shone for us!

    Parents put staff to shame with their 2-0 win at Tug-of-War, but the staff here are Craven are already in training for Round 2!
