  • Little Grangers - Trick or Treat

    31st October 2016 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Trick or Treat????  I think you will agree it looks like the little grangers had a Halloween treat on Monday.   They had lots of fun dressing up,  they danced to Halloween songs and used their creative skills to make scary print pictures and sticking pumpkins.  They even  had special spooky cupcakes at snack time.... ooooh.

    On Tuesday 18th October, the English Department were proud to take eighteen of our Most Able and Talented Year 8 English students on a trip to the Garforth Library. Whilst there, students engaged in a Shakespeare Workshop run by Ursula Holden Gill. Ursula Holden Gill is an award winning Actress and a first class Storyteller; effortlessly weaving her magic through spoken word, dance and music.   • Halloween Fun at Serlby Park

    There was Halloween excitement in the Library as pupils enjoyed creating their own Halloween Lanterns. This was part of the academy’s celebrations of Halloween. Students followed detailed instructions and practiced their cutting skills to create fabulous lanterns, some of which can be seen here.

  • Jodrell Bank Visit

    The GCSE astronomy group recently visited Jodrell Bank which is the home of the famous Lovell telescope. They explored the various interactive displays which were fantastic and very educational. They were also able to explore the beautiful gardens due to the weather being a lovely sunny day.

  • Battlefields History Trip

    24th October 2016 - Melior Community Academy

    Miss Higgins selected Charlie Broadbent and Kieran Goulding from Year 11 to take part in a First World War battlefields tour, as a reward for their enthusiasm in history lessons. The tour was fully funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and provided a variety of perspectives and insights into the history of the Western Front. They were led by an expert from the Guild of Battlefield Guides, also a serving solider accompanied the trip to provide a contrast to serving as a solider 100 years ago.

  • Animation at Bradford Media Museum

    On Thursday 20th October KS3 students visited Bradford Media Museum. The students were able to learn about different types of animation, make their own clay models and then work in groups to create their own animation using computers and webcams. Students also visited the I-Max to watch 3D Space and visited the arcade area to play retro games.

    The weather may not have been the best but that didn't stop the football enrichment session on Tuesday 18th October. We may have been small in numbers but what we lacked in numbers we more than made up for in energy and dare I say skill! The session provided students with an opportunity to work together with different people (including staff).

    A huge thank you to everyone involved with Willow Greens Harvest festival this week! The children sang their hearts out, Mrs Oakley accompanied them on the piano, parents took time out from their busy days to join us and watch; Father Edward excited everyone about Harvest and foods from around the world, Knottingley Food Bank spoke about where our collections would be distributed...but the greatest gift were the generous donations from the families and friends of Willow Green Academy and the sense of commun

    After half term Ryan has been seconded to take up the role of Vice Principal at Pheasant Bank Primary Academy in Rossington.

    Ryan has been associated with the school since 1997. Firstly as a secondary and sixth form student where he went on to become Deputy Head Boy and School football captain.
