  • West End in Schools - Bringing Books to Life

    7th March 2017 - Serlby Park Academy


    To celebrate World Book Day primary pupils have taken part in theatre workshops based around one of their favourite picture books 'Where the Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak.

    During the sessions, pupils had the opportunity to work with a professional dancer and choreographer to learn stage and performance skills.
    Each workshop concluded with a performance of the story, when they were able to show off their new skills to an audience.
    Well done to everyone who took part.

    6th March 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    All are welcome at the *FREE* Doncaster Apprenticeship Fair at Cast Theatre, Waterdale, between 2pm and 6pm on Wednesday 8th March 2017. There will be a range of providers and businesses available to talk to about job hunting, apprenticeships and work-based learning.

  • Dance Showcase

    6th March 2017 - Crookesbroom Primary Academy

    We had a great day at the Dance Showcase at Hatfield Travis. The children did very well with the dances we had learnt and picked up the new dances very quickly.

  • Chicks!

    6th March 2017 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    With Spring just around the corner we at Pheasant Bank are waiting for our new arrivals.  We have living eggs which are due to be hatched any day.  Everybody is very excited and we are running a competition to name all our chicks.  We will keep you updated about their progress on our 'Chick Page'.

  • Shakespeare Festival 2017

    6th March 2017 - Serlby Park Academy

    Last week saw the launch of our first ever Shakespeare Festival for pupils in Year 6.

    During the next few weeks our pupils will have the opportunity to read and review sixteen of William Shakespeare's most famous stories which have been re-told by Andrew Matthews and Tony Ross including Romeo and Juliet, King Lear and Hamlet.

    To launch our festival pupils in 6SB and 6RW enjoyed Elizabethan style cookery lessons in our secondary phase when they made Tudor Biscuits.

  • World Book Day

    3rd March 2017 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Pupils went wild for World Book Day on 2nd March.  During the day pupils from years 7, 8 & 10 took part in workshop activities surrounding the novel by David Weisner 'Flotsam'.  They produced a vast range of pieces of literacy based activities from TV adverts, diary entries, descriptions and poetry.

    During form time, all pupils had the opportunity to guess which teachers were reading in unusual places.  Over the course of the year, teachers had taken covert pictures of themselves reading on beaches, whilst

  • Marvellous March!

    3rd March 2017 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Following the Fabulous February campaign we have launched 'Marvellous March where students can win prizes for good attendance.

    There are lots of chances to win.

    1 x Prize per House for 100% attendance for the half term (individual students) 1 x £20 voucher, 2 x Easter mystery prize.

    2 x Breakfast draws per House- Form attendance monitored for a fortnight, then winners announced the week after.


  • Tiger Adoption

    3rd March 2017 - Serlby Park Academy

    Congratulations to Charlie in 4KC

    Charlie in 4KC has won a Tiger Adoption Pack from The Yorkshire Wildlife Park for writing a fantastic 500 word story about an injured tiger.

    The story has also been entered in a national competition sponsored by the WWF so good luck to Charlie and everyone else who took part.

    Some children in Year 5 represented our school in Delta Academies Trust Games. The girls ranked in 2nd place and the boys in 3rd place out of 27 academies. Well Done!

  • Today is World Book Day!

    Today is World Book Day and staff at The Elland Academy have dressed up again as their favourite characters. This year seems to have taken a darker path as we were in the presence of Death Eaters, Dementors and Dennis The Menace!

  • Pancake Day!

    2nd March 2017 - The Parks Academy

    On Tuesday pupils enjoyed making lots of lovely pancakes! Our teachers brought learning to life by measuring, following instructions and then making the pancakes. Some pupils practised their speaking and listening skills as they delivered their pancakes as presents for teachers around the school!

    Later on, pupils used these skills when they made pancakes at home. They tweeted thier pictures to. Thanks parents and carers for excellent partnerships and making learning fun at home too.




  • IMPS visit Y6

    2nd March 2017 - The Parks Academy

    On Thursday 2nd March, IMPS (injury minimisation program for schools) visited Y6. Children learned about the different kinds of injuries people can sustain. They learned about how to minimise the risk of harm and also about what to do in the event of an accident.

    Thanks to the ladies from the NHS for coming in for the morning. Y6 learned so much.

  • Six Nations Rugby Kit Presentation

    2nd March 2017 - Melior Community Academy

    A huge well done to Jamie Major who represented the academy at Twickenham on Sunday, 26th February. Jamie was in the daunting position of being interviewed by the media and going on stage for the official unveil with England player Villy Vunipola. Jamie also rehearsed the national anthem with Laura Wright and performed it in the centre of the pitch in front of 82,000 people. Jamie took everything in his stride and was the ultimate amassador for our school.

    2nd March 2017 - John Whitgift Academy

    World book day fever hit John Whitgift Academy on Thursday 2nd March when staff dressed as their favourite literary characters to help celebrate authors, illustrators, books and reading as part of this annual global event.

    Tutor time saw the "Drop everything and read" programme introduced and the launch, to students, of the Readathon, which is a fantastic scheme to promote reading for pleasure, as well as raising money for charity. Students are given a sponsorship card and set their own personal reading targ
