  • Happy (early) Retirement Mrs Jackson!

    10th March 2017 - Craven Primary Academy

    After 17 years of working at Craven, Mrs Jackson has decided it is time to retire which will allow her to spend lots of lovely time with her baby grand-daughter, Skye. Throughout her time here, Mrs Jackson has made such a difference to the school and is one of the main reasons the children get to attend such a variety of well-organised trips and visits. She will be missed by all the staff as a colleague and, more importantly, a friend and the picture on the left just shows how much the children will miss he

  • Imagined communities project

    9th March 2017 - The Elland Academy

    The Elland Academy are working with Chol Theatre Company on an imagined communities project. This project involves our students working with visiting professional artists to create an imaginary world. The picture shows what our students have developed so far. We have completed two weeks so far and the engagement of the students is great. They have all created their own character and a place in the world. Our characters include:

    • The God Forest
    • God of Mountains
    • The Lock Keeper
    • Ripambe

    We are up and rolling in ICT at The Elland Academy!
    A further 3 students have achieved overalls grades of Distinction*, Distinction and Merit in their ECDL exams!
    Year 10 students have hit the ground rolling with 7 out of 7 students passing their first Presentation exam with fantastic grades! 😁
  • Trust champions

    9th March 2017 - The Vale Academy

    Top-performing athletes returned to The Vale as champions after winning its sponsor’s prestigious indoor tournament at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

    They won the under 13 and under 15 Delta Academies Trust's competition after both girls’ teams came top in their age categories and the boys finished third in both.

    PE teacher Nicola Hewitt, who took the 21-strong team to south Yorkshire, said the competition was ‘fantastic’ from start to end.

  • Kirklees Youth Council trip to Westminster

    On Wednesday 8th March members of the Manor Croft Student Leader Council travelled to London as part of the Kirklees Youth Council to take a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. The trip was organised by Michelle Ross, Kirklees Youth Council Chair, and was a great success involving numerous high schools from north and south Kirklees. Members of the council were met by Paula Sherriff (Member of Parliament for Dewsbury) and Barry Sheerman (Member of Parliament for Huddersfield) and experienced some of the

    9th March 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Thursday 9th March 2017, 80 Year 8 students had the incredible opportunity to go to the West Yorkshire Playhouse to see a modern production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.  Shakespeare’s classic story has been transformed into a vibrant new production, providing students with an opportunity to access one of Shakespeare’s classic plays, exploring teenage love and violence which is transformed in a vibrant new production set against an epic northern landscape.  The students went to see this classic play

  • Music Workshop

    Over the past few days our Ky Stage 3 classes have taken part in a great music workshop. Here are some of the highlights:


    The outcome of this activity will be a concert held at the City Hall in the summer with some world renowned arrangers/composers putting together music for the city. Hull Trinity House Academy, along with one other primary school have been selected, in particular because of our heritage and traditional, to compile stories to put to music.

    Our new free 15 weeks Keeping up with the Children English Course is starting on Wednesday 8th March.


    8th March 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    During Marvellous March students can win prizes for good attendance, with lots of chances to win. Each week in March there will be a prize draw, for each Year Group in an “Open the Box” 100% attendance draw. Every week, six students will be drawn for the chance to pick a key, which in turn will be used to…Open the Box!

    If the box fails to open after all six attempts, the prize will rollover to the following week, doubling the reward.

    There will also be a prize for the Top Form with Highest Attendance – a brea

    “The students had a great time and competed with excellent team spirit throughout the day.
