  • Garforth Academy Post-16 Free School bid

    15th September 2016 - Garforth Academy

    Garforth Academy are currently putting together a bid to open a new Post 16 Free School in Garforth. Parents and members of the local community are invited to attend a presentation event at Garforth Academy on Tuesday 20th September.

    The event will enable the Academy to share the details of the proposed project in more detail, highlighting the benefits to the community and particularly its young people. There will also be an opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions.

  • Reformed GCSE's for Years 7 - 11

    CHANGES TO KS3 AND 4 REPORTING FROM SEPTEMBER 2016


    Reformed GCSEs will continue to be introduced gradually with wave 2 beginning in September 2016. They will be graded from 9 to 1 (P1 – P3 Pre-GCSE Scale), instead of A* to G. The new GCSE’s will be significantly more difficult as they have additional content and are primarily assessed by examination. A new grade 5 will be the new ‘pass’ level, which is equivalent to a high grade C currently. Students awarded GCSEs in 2017 and 2018 will therefore receive a mi

  • School Run

    15th September 2016 - Wybers Wood Academy

    Pupils volunteered to take part in a weekly school run on a specially mapped out course around the school grounds.  The event has been organised by Mr Wrigley who goes running regularly.  Pupils will be timed each week to help build their stamina and overall fitness.

  • Dahlicious Dress Up Day

    13th September 2016 - Serlby Park Academy

    Pupils celebrated 100 years of Roald Dahl and his wonderful stories.

    Primary pupils came to school dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl characters and donated £1 towards the official Roald Dahl Charity. We raised a fantastic £217.

    Pupils have also been taking part in a variety of Roald Dahl games all week and have had the chance to enter a special Roald Dahl Quiz to win a brand new book when they visited the library.


  • Oxford Student Pays Visit to Academy

    13th September 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    Former student James Broadhead, who now attends Oxford University, came into the Academy to talk to our More Able students in Year 11 about their future career prospects.  During the presentation he discussed strategies for exam success as well as dispelling some of the myths around applying to the elite universities.

    His talk was well received by all students as they prepare to apply for Post 16 choices.

    13th September 2016 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

     

    In celebration of Roald Dahl's 100th birthday, we all came to school dressed as one of his many book characters. There was an amazing variety from little Esio Trots, Big Friendly Giants, Enormous Crocodiles, and Grand High Witches (who thankfully didn't turn any children into mice!) We also had Charlie's, Matalida's, Willy Wonka's, fabulous foxes, Mr & Mrs Twits, golden ticket winners and umpa lumpa's!
