Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Macmillan Coffee Superstars!

    17th October 2017 - Serlby Park Academy

    On the 29th September 2017, Serlby Park Academy Secondary had their third Macmillan Coffee morning and it was our biggest and best ever! Students rose to the occasion (without the addition of baking powder) with all their bakes and pennies to donate to the worthy Cancer support charity. The hall was packed at break time and lunchtime with staff and pupils willing to make the ultimate sacrifice –to spend some money and enjoy some great bakes!

  • Harvest Festival - Food donations

    Until the 18th October we are collecting non-perishable food to donate to food banks and the homeless shelters.

    Halloween Disco, Wednesday 25th October, Key stage 1 3.30pm - 4.15pm, Key stage 2 4.30pm - 5.15pm. £1 entry payable on the door. Sweets, snacks and drinks available. Prize for best dressed costume.

  • Visitors to our Magic Breakfast Club

    17th October 2017 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Our breakfast club would not be FREE if it wasn't for Magic Breakfast, they supply our bagels, juice and cereals ensuring every child at Grange Lane have the opportunity for a healthy breakfast within our breakfast club or even a breakfast top up when bagels visit the classrooms during registration.

    Most recently Magic Breakfast have gained support from Amazon UK. So Stuart and Richard from our local Amazon joined us for a Magic Breakfast, found out a little more about our school and even had a game of chess

  • Whetley went Egyptian

    17th October 2017 - Whetley Academy

    Egyptian day at Whetley Academy was amazing.  The pupils dressed as Egyptians, learnt facts about ancient Egypt, Egyptian Cuisine, the national flag, the capital city, the desert and even The Egyptian Cinderella.

  • Manchester City

    This week some of the year 6 students were lucky enough to watch a Champions League match at Manchester City. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.

  • Sandall Beat Wood

    16th October 2017 - Crookesbroom Primary Academy

    Year 5 and 6 had an amazing trip to Sandall Beat Wood. They got to experience life as an explorer in the wild world.

  • Stone Age Workshop

    Year 3 and 4 had an amazing day learning about people, animals and settlements from the Stone Age. We did lots of drama based activities. It was a great day!

  • Restart a Heart

    16th October 2017 - Garforth Academy

    Year 8 students at the Academy took part in the Restart a Heart day, learning basic CPR in association with the British Heart Foundation, the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Fire & Rescue services as part of a national awareness drive.

    On Thursday 12th October Charlotte, Emma, Evie, Alex, Ben and Evan from Y5 went to east Garforth primary for a debating competition. It was between East Garforth, Green Lane, Park View and Whetley. Our first debate was against Whetley, the topic was “Should you change your clothes because of what others think?” After 15 minutes of planning time, we started debating. We were for changing clothes and won securing us a place in the final. In the final we were against East Garforth and the topic was “Should mob

  • Year 11 and Growth Mindset

    We are proud of our yr11’s taking part in the recent Growth Mindset workshop, working on the challenges they face with the exams they will sit next summer and coming up with their own solutions.

    They were fully engaged and reflective on their actions and plans for the next term.

  • Delta Debating Competition

    Last week some members of 5SR visited East Garforth Primary school for a debate. There were four schools from Delta in total. The topic we had to debate was, should you change your clothes if people judge you? We came up with some fantastic ideas and great language, but unfortunately we lost to the other team. After listening to the other debates, we have been inspired with lots of ideas for the next time we go to the competition.

  • Year 7 & 8 Book Fair

    As part of the English curriculum, students are encouraged to have one lesson of reading per week. During this time, students can choose their own book from home; pick one from the English department selection; from their local library or take advantage of the fabulous ILC in the Academy.
