    Our Busy Bees nurture group have been very busy throughout this half term. They have made a super display for Autumn and have now completed their Christmas decorating in our Breakfast Club.

    Only 8 sleeps till our PTA Christmas Fair.

    There will be a Cafe selling delicious treats, Santa will be visiting us in his Grotto, there's a raffle and tombola, games and crafts, Christmas stalls and much, much more. Please come and support this event on Friday 9th December 3.30-5.30pm

  • Early Years Outdoor Learning

    1st December 2016 - East Garforth Primary Academy

    Work has begun on our new Early Years Outdoor area. There will be a climbing frame and slide along with a new multilevel water reservoir and water wall. These improvements will develop our provision for gross motor control and scientific enquiry, along with collaborative work and good quality talk. 

  • Felt and Mosaic Workshops at Fountains Abbey

    1st December 2016 - The Grove Academy

    Two very successful Felt Workshops were held at Fountains Abbey, led by Emma Manners, in November.  Despite it being very cold with poor light the KS4 students were able to work on site, in the Abbey.  They produced interesting work for their GCSE portfolios.  The group then used these studies to create exciting, individual felts.  Both students said how much they enjoyed the day.

  • English Rewards

    1st December 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    Well done to Thomas M, Courtney S, Ruby C, Jemma W, Nikola K and Sam F who were awarded the prizes for attending the most interventions in Year 11 English by the Director of English Mr Fletcher-Markin.  All students are working exceptionally hard and we look forward to the rewards assembly to share more success and celebration.


  • Maths Rewards Assembly

    Miss Barton, who is our Leader of Maths, delivered our first maths rewards assembly this week.  Improving the outcomes in maths is an Academy priority and it was fantastic to see how many students have made progress between mock 1 and mock 2.  Our students have been working incredibly hard, turning up to lots of intervention and accessing one to one tuition.  Students were able to collect a certificate and choose from a number of goodies!  Well done to Miss Barton and all the students.  It was a fantastic e

    1st December 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    This year Manor Croft Academy PE Department held the first Primary Schools 5-a-side Championship.  Monday, 28th November, saw Eastborough J&I School and Orchard Primary Academy battling it out to be crowned 2016 Champions in the girls competition.  Both schools brought two teams and they played a round robin tournament. After an evening of tough tackling and great goals it was the Orchard Black team who came out on top, they will be back next year to defend their title.  Thursday evening gave the boys their

    Year 5 students were lucky enough to take a trip to London this term! They watched the amazing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the West End and visited the Science Museum! It was a truely incredible two days!

    On Monday afternoon as part of our Enrichment program, Mrs Doyle and Mrs Wakeham took some of our female students across to Coppice School, to engage their female students in a range of fun activities. Having been invited by Coppice Deputy Head Mrs Willis to form the collaborative “Coppice Girls” support group, girls from all years at Ash Hill were willing and eager to help.

  • Scrabble Dash in English

    29th November 2016 - The Elland Academy

    Students have been testing their vocabulary and spelling skills by playing Scrabble Dash. The group s in English have learnt to play the game together so they had to read the instructions and ensure that they all knew what they had to do, they had to recap vowels and consonants and work independently. This was our first experience of playing the game but the students were so engaged and doing so well we may have accidentally set a new trend at The Elland.

    We will be holding a 'Preparation for Exams' evening for our Year 11 students and their parents on Thursday, 8th December 2016 between 6pm and 8pm. The evening is aimed at supporting our students and their parents as they work towards their GCSE examinations.

    The Year 10 boys footballers progressed into the last 64 of the English schools competition after a very tough encounter at King James, Knaresborough.

    Despite Garforth’s early possession, it was King James who had the better opportunities and they took the lead midway through the first half after a well-placed free kick from the edge of the area found the bottom corner.

    The project involves a local business providing a class of children with a £150 loan so they can use it to develop and demonstrate their enterprising and entrepreneurial skills.
