    7th November 2016 - Ash Hill Academy

    As it is Remembrance Day on Friday, assemblies this week will be based on a Remembrance theme and will be delivered by Mrs Wright.

    However, on Wednesday 9th November we will have presentations delivered by the ASD specialist Ms Robson. These assemblies will focus on 'What it means to be ASD '.  

    The ASD assemblies on Wednesday will run at the following times:

    10.25 – 10.40 Year 9 (Normal assembly time)

    10.45 – 11.05 Year 7 (Straight to Assembly from Break)

    As part of the Academy push to improve literacy and encourage reading there is now an expectation that all students carry a reading book with them at all times.  Students are pictured showing senior staff their reading books on the ‘blue line’ as they enter school.

    The academy has run a Rotary Club sponsored Interact Club for over 3 years. The Club’s mission is to make a positive change in their school and community. As many of the original group left the academy last academic year, the mantle has been passed to our newest members who have already been a credit the name of Interact. In just a few weeks the group have project managed a bake sale for Macmillan raising a fantastic £66.13 in half an hour as people rushed to buy their delicious cake and buns, organised a h

    UPDATE: Maths enrichment has expanded to include FRIDAY afternoons too! Starting today (Fri 04/11/16) students can access support in the Maths department from 2.30pm to 3.30pm on Friday afternoons.

    Maths staff would also like to make it known that pizza will be on offer again…soon!

    Please be aware that Craft Club attendance is now full, so Mrs Parsons will not be able to accept any new students. If you would like to attend in the future, please see Mrs Parsons during normal school hours, and it may be possible to join the waiting list for next term.

  • Year 10 BTEC Art & Design Trip

    3rd November 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    As part of the BTEC course, ‘Specialist pathways in Art & Design’ our current Year 10 students visited Yorkshire Sculpture Park to experience the contemporary architecture and gallery exhibitions.  As well as viewing the open – air sculpture displays, students were encouraged to sketch and photograph the historic landscape.

    This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience the various pathways on offer to them in the art world as well as supporting them further in their studies.

  • Operation Christmas Child

    2nd November 2016 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Generous students and staff at the academy have been busy filling shoe boxes with toys, clothing, drawing equipment, toiletries and sweets in support of the Operation Christmas Child Campaign that is organised by Samaritans Purse.

    A superb 87 shoe boxes have been filled and will now be sent to some of the most disadvantaged children in the world.

  • Y11 INFORMATION EVENING

    2nd November 2016 - Ash Hill Academy

    Y11 students and their parents/carers were invited to an Information Evening on Tuesday 1st November. The evening began at 5.30pm with a light buffet, followed by a presentation at 6pm, to discuss key dates and deadlines throughout the year, hints and tips on how to revise for examinations and key information about English, Maths and Science. Students also received goody bags, containing supplies to aid them in their journeys to GCSE success.

    How better to celebrate Diwali 'The festival of lights' ...by dancing Bollywood style.  Thanks to cre8ive dance academy, our children enjoyed a day of authentic Hindi dancing.  Well done children you were amazing.

  • Y1 Planetarium Workshop

    1st November 2016 - Wybers Wood Academy

    Mr Morton came to visit with his Planetarium.  Pupils had a fantastic time and learnt all about the planets and even went star gazing! Y1 are now space experts!

  • Big Friendly Giant

    1st November 2016 - Serlby Park Academy

    Our wonderful library was transformed into a theatre for a new production of the BFG. 

    Pupils were enthralled as Anthony Pedley, who played the part of the BFG in the original stage production, told the story of Sophie and her adventures in Giant Country with the lovable, whizzpopping Big Friendly Giant!

     

    All the major characters were brought to life in this tale of dreams, queens, giants and snozzcumbers!
