  • Well Done Year 11

    27th January 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    Year 11 have worked tremendously hard this week attending intervention and one to one tutoring. They have also sat 3 full Maths mock exam papers and early indications suggest that there has been fantastic progress made from the November mock.  Students were treated to doughnuts in assembly in recognition of their hard work.  Maths results will be given out at the Pies and Peas evening on Thursday next week.

    Adam Gent won the u13 Cleveland (North)Table Tennis competition tonight. He now goes forward to the county event in two weeks time with the opportunity to qualify for a national competition.

    This week, Mr Nikoumaram delivered an assembly to praise the incredible progress that Year 11 students have made in Science since their last mock exams in November.  The most recent mock exams have seen a big leap forward and it is clear that everyone's hard work is paying off.  Around 60 students per week have been attending bespoke science revision sessions on a Friday at 2.30pm and this is clearly having a significant impact on results.  Well done to all the students and lets support them in keeping it g

    You might have noticed over the past month we have added some new sections to our website and therefore I thought i should give you an overview of whats new.

    All letters that are sent home from the academy can now be found in the Parents tab and then by clicking Letters home.

    We have launched a dedicated section of the website for Year 11 resources, this will be added to over the coming months in preperation for the exam period.

  • Pie & Peas Event

    26th January 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Thursday 2nd February the Maths team will be hosting a ‘Pie & Peas’ night for all Year 11 students and their families. This will be a celebration of the hard work our students are currently undertaking within their Maths lessons and will also be an opportunity for families to ask any questions about the new Maths GCSE over an informal pie & peas meal! Students will be given back their mock exam results and prizes will be given out for students showing the highest amount of progress since the November exa

  • U14s Badminton Kirklees Finals

    26th January 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    Thursday 26th January saw the finals of the Kirklees Schools Badminton Championships held at Huddersfield Leisure Centre.  The Under 14 boys’ team had qualified in first place after the regional event the month before; and now they were up against the top teams in Kirklees.  Joe, Ben, Liam and Muhammad played in singles and doubles competitions against Shelley College, Whitcliffe Mount and North Huddersfield College.  After 3 close matches the team finished in third place and were presented with bronze meda

  • Parking at Don Valley Academy

    25th January 2017 - Don Valley Academy

    Parking is available at the front of the Academy in the Jossey Lane carpark, this is however limited. Visitors and parents are reminded that there is additional parking available at the rear of the Academy via the Stonehill Rise entrance, this will be particularly useful at large events such as Parents Evenings, Productions etc.

    Disabled parking bays are available for designated users only.

    Parents are also asked to park responsibly on Jossey Lane.

  • Storytelling Laurate, Taffy Thomas!

    25th January 2017 - Weelsby Academy

    Year 3 and Year 4 have been working on writing stories based on ‘The Clever Wish’ by storytelling Laurate, Taffy Thomas.

    Excitingly, the teachers asked the story teller to come into school and share some more of his exciting stories.  Taffy lives in the Lake District but was happy to make the long journey when he heard about how much the children loved ‘The Clever Wish’.

  • KS3 Trampolining Champions

    24th January 2017 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Congratulations to Olivia Cope, Katherine Grice and Dannika Horn who competed in the Doncaster U14's trampolining competition last night.  They all performed superb routines with Dannika achieving the highest score in the competition after a flawless routine that finished with a somersault that was faultless.

    They are now through to the South Yorkshire Finals for their age group!

  • Hoverboards

    24th January 2017 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    Please note the use of 'hoverboards' is not permitted on site as under Section 72 of the Highway Act 1835 it is an offence to wilfully ride on the footway.

    The health and safety of children, parents and visitors is paramount therefore we ask that all 'hoverboards' are left at home. If they are seen in use on the site, you will be asked to refrain from using it.

    Melior Community Academy was last inspected by Ofsted on the 13th and 14th December 2016. Melior Community academy is no longer in special measures.

    The DfE performance tables have been published and we're proud to announce that the academy has been confirmed as being the top performing school in Doncaster for the new Progress 8 measure.

    Y5 children made their own “cornflour slime” (Thixotropic substance to give it its correct scientific term) from cornflour and water.  It formed a crumbly solid at first, but when they added more drops of water and applied some pressure, it “magically” turned into liquid!
