    Some children in Year 5 represented our school in Delta Academies Trust Games. The girls ranked in 2nd place and the boys in 3rd place out of 27 academies. Well Done!

  • Today is World Book Day!

    Today is World Book Day and staff at The Elland Academy have dressed up again as their favourite characters. This year seems to have taken a darker path as we were in the presence of Death Eaters, Dementors and Dennis The Menace!

  • Pancake Day!

    2nd March 2017 - The Parks Academy

    On Tuesday pupils enjoyed making lots of lovely pancakes! Our teachers brought learning to life by measuring, following instructions and then making the pancakes. Some pupils practised their speaking and listening skills as they delivered their pancakes as presents for teachers around the school!

    Later on, pupils used these skills when they made pancakes at home. They tweeted thier pictures to. Thanks parents and carers for excellent partnerships and making learning fun at home too.

     

     

     

  • IMPS visit Y6

    2nd March 2017 - The Parks Academy

    On Thursday 2nd March, IMPS (injury minimisation program for schools) visited Y6. Children learned about the different kinds of injuries people can sustain. They learned about how to minimise the risk of harm and also about what to do in the event of an accident.

    Thanks to the ladies from the NHS for coming in for the morning. Y6 learned so much.

  • Six Nations Rugby Kit Presentation

    2nd March 2017 - Melior Community Academy

    A huge well done to Jamie Major who represented the academy at Twickenham on Sunday, 26th February. Jamie was in the daunting position of being interviewed by the media and going on stage for the official unveil with England player Villy Vunipola. Jamie also rehearsed the national anthem with Laura Wright and performed it in the centre of the pitch in front of 82,000 people. Jamie took everything in his stride and was the ultimate amassador for our school.

  • World Book Day 2017

    2nd March 2017 - John Whitgift Academy

    World book day fever hit John Whitgift Academy on Thursday 2nd March when staff dressed as their favourite literary characters to help celebrate authors, illustrators, books and reading as part of this annual global event.

    Tutor time saw the "Drop everything and read" programme introduced and the launch, to students, of the Readathon, which is a fantastic scheme to promote reading for pleasure, as well as raising money for charity. Students are given a sponsorship card and set their own personal reading targ

    It’s the 2nd March and its World Book Day! It’s the celebration of everything bookish, with characters we love, to characters we love to hate, celebrated in schools across the country.  We all have a favourite story whether it be a classic childhood favourite like Harry Potter or a more mature choice like War and Peace. Why not bond over books and spend a couple of minutes today thinking about your favourite character from a book then share the story with your child and the reasons why you love it so much?

    Manor Croft Academy celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March 2017 with a day of book related activities including a spelling bee during form time.  Staff discarded their usual work clothes for the day and dressed up as characters from well-known books.  From 'The Wizard of Oz' to 'Diary of a Wimpey Kid', the staff catered for everyone's literary tastes.

  • Nursery are busy!

    2nd March 2017 - Weelsby Academy

    Nursery children are very busy doing lots of exciting things. 

    They enjoying World Book Day and Pancake Day and the children helped make the pancakes too. 

    Our topic is Are Eggs Alive?  We received 12 eggs from the farm and all of them have hatched.  The children are helping to look after them until they go back to the Farm. 

    We are also going to visit the farm at the end of March and learning all about baby animals and farm sights, sounds and smells.

  • 2017 Delta Games

    2nd March 2017 - Serlby Park Academy

    Our pupils attended an annual Academy Games and they performed to the best of their ability; particular congratulations go to Dimitrijs Zubovs who finished 1st in his event, and Molly Waplington (3rd place) in the Shot Putt. At the event 20 academies within the trust were in attendance. The pupils, as usual, were exceptionally well behaved and an absolute credit to us at Serlby Park. Well done to all competitors, and we look forward to taking you again next year!

    2nd March 2017 - Grange Lane Infant Academy We had so much fun on world book day. Our school was full of all our favourite story book characters, including Little Red Riding Hood, Thomas the Tank Engine and many more.
  • DELTA Academy Games 2017

    2nd March 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    19 schools battled it out on 2nd March to become the DELTA games champions 2017!

    DELTA Academies from across Yorkshire and beyond battled it out to earn the right to become the DELTA Games Champions.  Over 200 young people from 19 schools converged on the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield for the DELTA games indoor athletics championships.

  • World Book Day

    2nd March 2017 - Willow Green Academy

    On Thursday 2nd March, everyone at Willow Green Academy celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite characters from books. There were lots of amazing outfits including Fantastic Mr Fox, Harry Potter and a number of 'Where's Wally's'! We also had a visitor from Pontefract Library who spoke to all the children about authors and books. We raised a brilliant £201 to buy books for our library area. 

     

  • Y11 'AN INSPECTOR CALLS'

    2nd March 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    This morning our Year 11 students were treated to the return of theatre troupe ManACTCo, who performed their rendition of J.B. Priestley's "An Inspector Calls". This was as part of our drive to help students better understand some of the harder aspects of the English Literature syllabus.

    ManACTCo had previously performed to Year 11 students in October, with three Shakespeare plays in an hour, as well as in November performing the Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol".
