Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • BBC School Report 2017

    17th March 2017 - Garforth Academy

    On Thursday 16th March, 24 of our Y9 students made the news for real as one of over 1,000 schools to participate in this year's BBC School Report.

    Students were able to work together to complete an accomplished bulletin that investigated several stories including the issue of exam stress, the recent local train strikes, the upcoming Academy production of Grease and whether more men should take up yoga.

  • International Womans Day

    17th March 2017 - The Elland Academy

    Our main aim was to highlight how important women are in society today and to promote our students self esteem and self worth.

    We started as a group looking at influential women and discussing who we look up to and why.

    Then we went for a pamper session which included students having a pamper by both peers and staff and some lucky members of staff had their nails and hair done by students too.

    17th March 2017 - Strand Primary Academy

    Just a reminder that school dinners cost £2.10 and need to be ordered and paid for a week in advance. If you think your child might be eligible for free school meals please speak to Mrs Fielding or Mrs Norman. All reception and key stage 1 children are entitiled to Free School meals.

    World Book day was again, a great success! It was fantastic to see so many children in costumes. There were some fabulous ideas, well done parents!

    Our Food Superheroes in the kitchen will be providing a Break Club that will serve healthy snacks and fruit to ks2 children. These snacks will range and may include; cheese and ham bagels, toasted muffins and flavoured milk for 50p each and fruit for 20p a piece.

  • Student excels at Pi Day celebrations

    15th March 2017 - John Whitgift Academy

    Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world.  Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

    Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point and Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorise. One John Whitgift student, Niamh Clarke, has managed to memorise it to 50 decimal places! A very impressive feat!

    14th March 2017 - Melior Community Academy

    One of our Year 8 Maths classes chose an ingenious way of celebrating Pi Day today by using their bodies to create Pi to 4 decimal places.

  • Year 9 Rugby Tournament

    14th March 2017 - Garforth Academy

    The Year 9 Rugby team played in a five school tournament at St.John Fisher School, Harrogate yesterday. The lads were a credit to the Academy, playing four games against some very good opposition. They worked hard and pulled together well as a team, winning one, drawing one and narrowly losing two. To say it was physical would be an understatement!!

    Well done to everyone involved.

     

     

  • Updated Routes to 529 and 530 Bus services

    13th March 2017 - Don Valley Academy

    Please find below updated routes and timetables for the Don Valley services.  There are no changes to the morning service.  The afternoon services have been amalgamated into one service.  There is capacity on one bus to carry all passengers.

    The changes will take place from Monday 20th March 2017.
