Race for life

  • Real Life Superhero

    20th November 2012 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    As part of our last terms topic Year 2 have managed to organise a visit by their real life Superhero 'Ben Parkinson' to Hatfield Woodhouse. The children on hearing about the fundraising events that Ben particpates in, they decided to support him by raising money for his chosen charity.  The whole school joined together in raising funds to support the 'Pilgrim Bandits charity'. A charity that Ben supports.

  • Road Safety Week

    19th November 2012 - Park View Primary Academy

    We are all working together to support road safety week: 19th to 25th November.

    The children will be reminded of how to cross the roads , how to be seen and how to stay safe.

  • Parents Recommend The Vale Academy

    5th November 2012 - The Vale Academy

    Following a questionnaire conducted at Year 7 settling-in evening, 100% of parents would recommend the academy to prospective parents.  Of the 737 questions asked, there were only 7 responses that cited disagreement with academy policy - less than 1%.

    Analysis of the Year 8 questionnaires showed that 100% of responses received suggested that the academy would be recommended to prospective parents.  Of the 770 questions, there were 10 responses which disagreed with policy.  Again, this is less than 1%.

  • New Library Opening

    24th October 2012 - Park View Primary Academy

    The week started with a whole school assembly on Monday.

    On Tuesday, Kirsty Fenn from the School Library Service visited to introduce the children to the library and teach them about library skills.  All the children were given a new book bag so they can take care of all the new books.

    Wednesday 24th October saw the children's author Penny Dolan visit to do workshops on reading and writing with every class.  What an enjoyable time all our children had!

  • Year 6 Residential - Hollowford

    20th October 2012 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Year 6 have just returned from their residential in Castleton at the Hollowford Centre.

    The children spent three days at the outdoor activity centre, participating in a range of activities designed to build individual confidence and team working skills, such as high ropes, archery and caving.

  • Harvest Festival

    12th October 2012 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Thank you to everyone who attended the Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School 2012 Harvest Festival.

    The children gave a wonderful performance, celebrating farming and the season.

    We managed to raise £100 for charity, so thanks to everyone who contributed to the stall or bought something.

    Thank you to Mr Ross and Mrs Nixon for their great work behind the scenes.

     

  • Thorne Fire Station visit - Year 5/6

    10th October 2012 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    As part of their Heroes and Villains topic, Year 5 and 6 pupils have been visiting Thorne Fire Station this week.

    The aim of the visit was for the children to meeting some local heroes and seeing how their role impacts the local community.

    The children were treated to a tour of a fire engine, a hose demonstration, witnessing a road traffic accident response and having a go on the hoses themselves!

    The children were able to ask lots of questions and gained a great deal of knowledge.

  • Heroes and Villains - A local hero

    24th September 2012 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Year 5 and 6 were recently visited by Gordon Harper, who delivered a presentation on local hero Corporal John Harper, who won the Victoria Cross in World War 2.

    Corporal Harper was a former Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School student, who lost his life in 1944, whilst fighting in Belgium.  He was awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously for his bravery during combat.

    The visit gave the children the opportunity to understand the sacrifices made by people during the war, and ultimately the impact this has had.  Th

    When a spot of good weather finally came along, we held our 2nd annual Winter Olympic games. The focus of these games is target skills. The disciplines were; football shooting, hockey shooting, golf putting, Quoit target, Ball Target, Bocce and Curling. Every child took part in at least 2 events.     A group of Y7 students were given the opportunity to perform in front of the Mzvuele School Choir when they visited De Warenne Academy on 10th July. The Mzvuele School Choir from Durban, South Africa were visiting England on an exchange visit with Garforth Academy Leeds and were invited to visit De Warenne by Head Girl, Harriet Brammer who had been given a lifetime opportunity of visiting the Mzvuele High School at Easter with other Post 16 students from Garforth Academy.   • Cadeby Mining Disaster

    On the 8th July 2012 4 students from De Warenne Academy led the procession through Denaby to remember the 91 miners who had been killed by the explosion at the Cadeby and Denaby Mine back in 1912.
