  • Year 2 'Tropical Butterfly House Trip'

    20th April 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Dear Parents,

    Over the next term Year 2 will be learning about ‘Mini-beasts’ as part of our new curriculum. We have organised a trip to ‘Butterfly House’ at Sheffield. The trip will take place on Friday 26th April 2013. The total cost for this trip - £12.00 per child.

    Please make sure that your child brings his/her own packed lunch for the trip.

  • Y11 Interventions

    18th April 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    A huge thank you to all the parents/carers who attended the Y11 Interventions evening on Thursday 18th April from 5pm onwards. Congratulations to Mrs Dogan, Jessuca's mum, who won the raffle for the £100 Four Seasons Gift Voucher. A good evening was had by all, especially the meal!   • Crucial Crew - Year 6

    15th April 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    On Tuesday 16th April, Year 6 travelled to Rotherham, to take part in 'Crucial Crew' training.

    Crucial Crew is a regional activity offered to all schools (Year 6) in South Yorkshire. The day event involves the emergency services (Police, Fire Service, and Red Cross). The aim is to make the children aware, and also prepared for, different events that take part in everyday life.

    The Lifewise Centre has been designed to look like a real town, with shops, a park, a crossing and much more.

  • Y11 Interventions Evening

    Dear Parent/Carer

    You will be aware that your child took GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics examinations at the start of January 2013. It has been identified through detailed analysis that a group of students have not reached their expected progress grades at present in English and/or Mathematics and therefore if your child falls into this group they require further intervention prior to the exams in the summer.

  • Music from Around the World!

    27th March 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Today, as part of their 'What a Wonderful World' topic, Year 6 were visited by local musician, Janet Wood. 

    Janet works with DART (Doncaster Community Arts), as a resident artist.  She has travelled all over the world and was able to share her knowledge and experiences of music and culture with the children.

    As part of the event, the children learnt how to say 'Hello' is several languages!  They also learnt traditional songs, had a chance to role play (with costumes!) and hear stories from around the world. 

  • Snow and Bad Weather Policy

    In the event of bad weather it is always the academy's priority to remain open and as such the site team will work to ensure that the site is both accessible and safe.

  • Family of Schools Easter Service

    26th March 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Monday 25th March over 80 students from across Queen Elizabeth’s Family of Schools took part in the Easter Service at St Mark’s Church.

    Queen Elizabeth’s Jackson James, Shannon Glaves and Kayla Lyons performed a short sketch about Jesus washing his disciple’s feet. The students researched and reflected on this sketch and even helped to make their own costumes for the service. Mr Smith (Principal) re-enacted the washing of the disciples' feet by washing the feet of some of the members of the congregation.

  • National Schools Badminton

    25th March 2013 - The Vale Academy

    Congratulations to The Vale Academy KS4 boys badminton team who have reached the Center Parcs National Finals. They will be representing Yorkshire! It takes place on 21st and 22nd April at Sherwood Forest.

    Sarah Milne will be at the Finals as the young Team England star, Sarah has been in to The Vale Academy recently running some Badminton Workshops with our students.

  • Youth Conversation Event

    On Thursday 21st March Queen Elizabeth’s Academy students were invited by Mansfield District Council to take part in the Youth Conversation Event which was held at Mansfield Library.

    The aim of the day was for young people to be informed by service providers of what they do within the district of Mansfield.  Some of the service providers that were in attendance and that consulted with our students were the Police, Services from Mansfield District Council Teams - Housing, Town Centre Developments and Mansfiel

  • Ash Hill Dance Festival

    21st March 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    We are all very proud of our Year 6 students, who took part in the Ash Hill Academy dance festival on Thursday 21st March.

    Amelia, Ash, Elli, Ellie, Georgia, Jessica, Mitch, Rosie and Thea worked really hard with Mrs Gray and Donna, to produce a great street-dance inspired routine.

    We can't wait for the next event in June, where we plan to enter groups from different year groups.

  • Mansfield Bus Station Opening

    20th March 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Monday 18th March a selection Y7 students visited the new Mansfield Bus Station. Students received a personnel tour by the Project Manager who gave the students facts and figures about the design and build of the Bus Station.

    Students were informed that the grounds the Bus Station had been developed on were sacred grounds; the original Quaker burial site had created implications during the building process, as bones had been found on the site.  Students were surprised by this information and asked “What h

  • Year 6 Sculpture visit

    19th March 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Year 6 recently travelled into Doncaster to take part in a workshop offered by Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery.

    The ‘hands on’ workshop allowed the children to develop their understanding of shape, form, texture and the sensory quality of materials.  They were also able to make their own three-dimensional sculpture in the form of a clay maquette [small scale model].  The visit also included a tour of the centre, as well as an opportunity to see the current Paola McClure exhibition “Sparkle and Spin”.

  • Blackpool Hair Festival

    18th March 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    A group of students who are studying for a VTCT qualification in hairdressing in the sixth form recently attended the Blackpool Hair Festival. This is a national competition where students can both compete and spectate. The standard is high as competitors come from salons and colleges all over the country. Three of our students entered the competitions and did really well. The girls were inspired by what they saw and are keen to further develop their skills and enter again next year.

  • Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

    15th March 2013 - The Vale Academy

    Throughout the spring term, students from The Vale Academy have been working with members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The workshops lasted for a total of 6 days, culminating in 2 performances at the Baths Hall given to a full house of pupils on both occasions. Activities included composing a piece of music which was performed by students and the RPO, learning about event management, repertoire and presenting large scale concerts.

  • Red Nose Day 15th March 2013

    15th March 2013 - Park View Primary Academy

    Today we fundraised in style for this year's Comic Relief Red Nose Day

    Children and staff enjoyed dressing up as either their favourite book character to celebrate the end of book week, or just dressed up for the fun of it!!

    Through the sale of red noses and the non uniform day, we raised the fantastic total of £330   (and still counting!)

  • Love Beeston, Clean Beeston 2

    15th March 2013 - Park View Primary Academy

    On Thursday 14th March we once again took part in the South Leeds Community Alliance Big Community Clean Up - 'Love Beeston, Clean Beeston' Campaign.  The 'clean up hour' covered the streets on Harlech Road, Woodview Road, Harlech Avenue and the area around around Park View Primary Academy.
