  • St Peter's Summer Concert

    18th June 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    St Peter's Church of England Primary School held their Summer Concert here at Queen Elizabeth's Academy on Tuesday 18th June. The Main Hall was filled with parents, family and pupils from the school all in anticipation of what turned out to be a fantastic evening of music and drama.

    The pupils were well rehearsed and the performances were spectacular. The highlight of the evening for me was the KS2 Choir who performed effortlessly in harmony and closed the evening in a highly professional manner.

    17th June 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    A new after Academy club called Garden Club will start next Tuesday 25th  June. The club is open to all year groups and will start at 15:00 and finish at 15:45. Please see the attached poster for more information. If you are interested, please come and see me at break or after Academy.

    17th June 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    A new club for students will take place on Tuesdays after Academy in the Main Hall from 3:15-4:15. Drama Club is open to all students who are interested in taking part. For more information please speak to Mr Millar.

  • Summer Fayre

    On Saturday the 15th June the Academy held its first Summer Fayre. The weather held and it was a great success. Students had the opportunity to show their enterprise skills by running stalls which included: homemade cakes, cards, craft activities, face painting, lucky dips and a charity tombola, all of which were in aid of Framework, Mansfield’s main homelessness charity.  A huge well done to the students and a big thank you for coming to the Academy on a Saturday.     KS1 are looking forward to an exciting and funfilled afternoon with their Father's, Grand Dad's and uncles to join them in celebrating 'Father's Day'. Under no circumstance will this event will be cancelled.

    Due to the unpredictable weather we have made arrangements for activities to take place indoors but we are hoping for a bright sunny afternoon so that the activities could take place outdoors as per schedule. KS1 children and staff are looking forward to an exciting afternoon.

    Three aspiring students from Rossington All Saints Academy; Josh Bathgate, Lauren Caldwell and Jonathan McPhail and past student Laura Pearman, all interviewed for positions as casual coaches with Active Fusion.  All 4 have been offered the positions after demonstrating their abilities in teaching lessons to both year 7 and 8 students.

  • A Song for the Ashes

    3rd June 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Students from Queen Elizabeth's Academy took part in the competition “A Song for the Ashes “ on 8th May. Students from Queen Elizabeth’s Voices and twelve students within Year 10 and 11 took part in a recording of the song.

    The competition was designed to encourage local musicians and people who love cricket to come together to create a relationship between the Arts and Sport and produce an entry for the “Song for the Ashes” competition.

  • Boots UK Team Challenge at QEA

    30th May 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Thursday 30 May, over 20 Boots UK colleagues supported the local community by helping to redecorate the Queen Elizabeth’s Academy student communal area in the Cloisters.

    The project was initiated by the Community Manager, Mrs Joy Riley, who made contact with Business in the Community, based in the East Midlands.   • Pyjama Day - A visit from the Civic Mayor

    The children and staff held a Pyjama Day to raise funds for the Charities of the Civic Mayor. The Civic Mayor visited the Academy for an Assembly to collect a cheque for £100 and to thank the children for their fundraising efforts. She even came in her pyjamas!!

    A Festival of Squash is being run by Sutton Squash Club and the Queen Elizabeth Academy's Family Primary Schools on Wednesday 22nd May.  Andy Hay, from Advance Squash Coaching, has been delivering mini squash coaching in four primary schools for the past five weeks to Year 3 and 4 students.  The children have learnt racket and hand-eye co-ordination skills which will help them play mini squash.  Andy has seen all the students improve their skills and has worked with the teachers to choose ten children to re

    On Monday 13th May, students from the Queen Elizabeth’s Academy took part in the Schools Partnership Trust Academies Athletics Games held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

    13th May 2013 - The Vale Academy

    The Vale Academy took part in the Schools Partnership Trust first annual SPT Academy Games at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. This gave the students the opportunity to compete against nine other academies from within the SPT from across Yorkshire. 

    Vale Academy were crowned the overall champions after winning both the U13 boys and U15 girls and finishing 2nd in the U15 boys and 3rd in the U13 girls.

    De Warenne now has its very own celebratory chefs in Mr Green and Mr Ferguson who competed against one another in a ready, steady cook-style competition organised by our caterers, Chartwells.

    The Red team - Mr Ferguson, Kalli Wesley (Y7) and Alisha Pearsall ( 11) -battled it out in a cook off against the Green team - Mr Green, Poppy Smith (Y7) and Megan Peart (Y11). This had all the drama, emotion and tension of the finals of Masterchef and the Great British Bake off.

    This Easter 36 students set off to Paris. Highlights from the week included venturing deep into the city's underground catacombs to see the final resting place of over 6 million Parisians and taking in the many splendid sights of Paris with a river cruise along the Seine. Most of the group were then courageous enough to go right to the top of the Eiffel Tower, once the tallest building in the world.

  • Austria Ski Tour 2013

    24th April 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    This Easter saw the third visit to the Austrian slopes for our students. On the first morning the group woke up to a glorious downfall of snow which set the day up perfectly for the experienced skiers and those new to the sport.

    After a few stumbles on day one all new skiers had made excellent progress and headed on the ski lifts up the mountain. By the end of that day they had grown in confidence and were thoroughly enjoying themselves. The advanced group were tackling lots of different slopes and often cam
