    It was a sad day today at Hatfield Woodhouse Pimary School, as we said goodbye to the class of 2012/2013.

    We have a great day with a leavers assembly, picnic, bouncy castle and a water fight (which was the highlight)!

    Today the Key Stage two children who attend guitar lessons in school, performed the pieces of music that they have been learning over the course of the year.

    The children played groups pieces, as well as individuals performing solo pieces.

    We are very proud of the children's commitment to learning a new skill.

    17th July 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    Year 5 pupils from Ivanhoe and Morley Place came to De Warenne having been set the challenge of designing a sandwich to sell at the Great Yorkshire Show. The pupils had researched ideas, designed marketing campaigns, constructed packaging and produced some fantastic recipes. The standard was extremely high and all teams received certificates to acknowledge their work and innovation.   • Academy Arts Project

    17th July 2013 - Rowena Academy

    As part of our Artsmark Gold application and our community project work Miss Grain from De Warenne Academy's art department spent three days working with the nusery and reception classes to produce two giant sized elephants for the Outdoor Play Area.

    The children painted sections of the elephant before adding layers of patterned tissue paper to create a patchwork effect. The finished elephants were then varnished ready to be displayed as part of the academy's outdoor play areas. It was a fantastic opportunit

  • Reading Stars!

    11th July 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    Author Helena Pielichaty visited the library to hold football-related reading workshops in the library for Miss Shields 'Reading Stars' group in Year 7 as well as students from the Portals Book Club and academy librarians. The Reading Stars group are currently working on a football-themed project and were very enthusiastic as they worked with Helena.     Congratulations to all of the students who took part in the District Athletics on Tuesday 9th July at Costello stadium .  The Year 7, 8 and 10 team finished first and the Year 9 team finished second. 
    Vale won the overall division and have been promoted for next year in to division 1. Fantastic!!!!

    10th July 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    Wednesday 3rd July saw the 4th Annual De Warenne Academy Sports Day. Luckily this year the weather was on our side! In the run up to sports day all students in Y7, 8 and 9 took part in an interhouse dodgeball competition with points going towards sports day totals. During the morning session the 400m and 800m events on the track and the throwing events were held and medals presented.   • De Warenne Academy Library 'Official Opening.

    4th July 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    We were delighted to welcome best-selling children and young peoples' author Mark Robson to officially open our library on the 4th July . In the morning Mark held two workshops on short story writing for a selection of our year 8 students. The official opening was marked by the cutting of a ribbon held by the library dragon mascots which then revealed an official plaque commemorating the occasion. Over lunch, Mark answered the very well thought out questions put to him by librarians and book club members.

    28th June 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    In June tents, mats, pillows, sleeping bags, stoves, food and a cuddly toy were just some of the items packed in to the minibus along with twelve Y8 students. The destination was Birchover in Derbyshire for an outdoor activities trip.

    The first challenge was erecting the tent which was a great teamwork exercise!  The following morning involved climbing up and around rocks and then on to abseiling where everyone showed great courage. In the afternoon the group went to Carsington Water for raft-building. Two t

    On Friday 28th June a selection of Year 7 students visited the Beacon Project in Mansfield. The aim of this visit was to deliver food, toiletries and towels that had been collected at Queen Elizabeth’s Academy and Rosebrook Primary School.  The Beacon Project has been our charity focus over the last term.  A big thank you to students, parents and staff who have support this vital project.
