    1st October 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Thursday 19th September 2013, Queen Elizabeth’s Academy ‘First Story’ students visited Lady Margaret Hall in Oxford. This day involved students taking part in writing workshops, street theatre, as well as providing them with a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity to meet Malorie Blackman (author of ‘Noughts and Crosses’).

    30th September 2013 - The Vale Academy

    Runners up in the U14 Scunthorpe and District Netball Championships and will be representing North Lincolnshire in the Lincolnshire County Championships in November.

  • Me2Wrk Programme

    30th September 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    The Me2Wrk programme was held at Queen Elizabeth's last week and all student in Year 11 have continued on the programme from Year 10. The final event of this programme will be held later in the year.

    The MLP Careers and Employability Programme will assist students to make and implement education, training and occupation choices and to help them learn how to manage their careers.

  • Big Coffee Morning

    27th September 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Friday 27th September the Academy opened their doors to welcome parents, carers and the Mansfield community to their Big Coffee morning in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support.

    Student ambassadors from each year represented the academy on the morning by serving hot drinks, cakes and treats; there was so much of selection to choose from.

    A big thank you to everyone who donated to Foundation Fund Friday.  We raised a fantastic £215!

    Foundation Fund Friday was a group wide fundraising day in aid of the School Partnership Trust Foundation Fund, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The fund gives pupils and students of SPTA academies the opportunity to take part in activities that may not normally be open to them.

  • Closure due to Industrial Action

    25th September 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    As you may be aware from the local media, there is to be a one day regional strike held by teachers who are members of the NUT/NASUWT on Tuesday 1st October 2013. Unfortunately, I will have to close the Academy to students on that day as there are insufficient teaching staff on site during that day and therefore the safety of children could also be at risk.

    The Academy will be open as usual on Wednesday 2nd October 2013 onwards.

  • Doncaster Young People's Awards 2013

    24th September 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    We were delighted that two of our sixth form students were honoured with this award at a ceremony held at the Mansion House in September. They were nominated in acknowledgement of their valuable contributions to the life of the academy during their time here. Emma Taylor's warmth and enthusiasm make her popular with staff and peers and she excelled in her meticulous organisation of the 2012 Christmas concert. She co-ordinated the whole project and raised a very considerable amount of money for Bluebell Wood

    This week has seen the third primary school to be given the 'Egg Drop Challenge' by Manor Croft Academy's brand new Transition Team.

    The Transition Team has been created to link up with our primary feeder schools in order to offer pupils the opportunity to familiarise themselves with Manor Croft Academy and the key staff that they will meet in the first few months of attending the Academy.

  • Year 8 canal barge trip

    23rd September 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    In June eight lucky students from Year 8 were chosen at random to take part in a three day barge trip along the Leeds - Liverpool canal. Under the command of the skipper, the 11 strong crew (including Mr Allgood, Mr Scotney and Mrs Benton-Miller) successfully navigated numerous locks and swing bridges to sail from Snaygill Boat Yard, near Skipton, all the way to Gargrave and back again. Stop-offs along the way included a trip into Skipton and a rounders game which tested the fitness levels of the staff! The

  • Queen Elizabeth's BMX Champion

    19th September 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    We have very many sporting achievements here at Queen Elizabeth's Academy in Athletics, Cricket, Football and now in.....BMX Rallying. Ben Timmons in Year 10 has recently shown his skills on the BMX and has become Regional Champion at the Under 15 trials held in Doncaster.

    Ben now aims to take on the the country and will competing in the National trials soon. We wish him every success and hope to update you soon with news of him being the National Champion!

  • Sponsored Walk over The Humber Bridge

    16th September 2013 - The Vale Academy

    Intrepid students will spend four weeks on an expedition to Borneo.

    To raise funds, Team Borneo 2014 took on a more local challenge with a fancy dress sponsored walk over the Humber Bridge.

    The students from The Vale Academy in Brigg will spend next July working in remote villages and the island’s rainforest.

    I am delighted to share with you our best ever results. The numbers in brackets are last years’ results and are there to demonstrate the improvements we have made. With a 7% improvement we are the second most improved school in North Lincolnshire. When you compare the performance of our students against the Government targets for our students we perform equally as well as most other local schools and academies when looking at their performance against their targets.

  • Year 7 Adventure Day...... Fanwoods

    9th September 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

     

    Friday was a superb day for our new Year 7 starters. The entire cohort took on the challenge of Fanwoods Adventure Centre.

    Students have had a successful week acclimatising into Secondary School life, and so Manor Croft Academy thought it was time to give them a real test by challenging them against the activities put on by the team at Fanwoods.   • Becoming an International School

    8th September 2013 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    We have recently been awarded the Foundation mark for the International School Award! This is the first step to becoming a fully-fledged 'international school'.

    Last year Mr Deakin's class created a link with a school in Sri Lanka. This is continuing this year. But now, every class will be involved.

    We have already: written letters, shared work and spoken via email. As well as this, there will be exciting projects coming up very soon so we will keep you posted!

  • Exam Success

    6th September 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    The academy is celebrating record results in 2013. At A-level we had a 100% pass rate and a whole array of distinctions. As a consequence of this we were delighted that all students who applied were accepted by the university of their choice. At GCSE more students than ever gained a grade C or above in maths and both English and maths saw a big rise in A and A* grades.
