    1st July 2013 - The South Leeds Academy

    The dedicated members of The Academy’s afterschool STEM Club visited the Manchester Museum of Science and Information during the holidays to explore further their passion for Science. The students thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the various exhibitions and developing their knowledge of Science and Industry and are hoping to implement some of the things they saw and learnt at the museum in their future STEM Club sessions.

    28th June 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    In June tents, mats, pillows, sleeping bags, stoves, food and a cuddly toy were just some of the items packed in to the minibus along with twelve Y8 students. The destination was Birchover in Derbyshire for an outdoor activities trip.

    The first challenge was erecting the tent which was a great teamwork exercise!  The following morning involved climbing up and around rocks and then on to abseiling where everyone showed great courage. In the afternoon the group went to Carsington Water for raft-building. Two t

  • Visit to the Beacon Project

    28th June 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Friday 28th June a selection of Year 7 students visited the Beacon Project in Mansfield. The aim of this visit was to deliver food, toiletries and towels that had been collected at Queen Elizabeth’s Academy and Rosebrook Primary School.  The Beacon Project has been our charity focus over the last term.  A big thank you to students, parents and staff who have support this vital project.


  • Tuishi Pamoja Leaver's Play (Year 6)

    27th June 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Year 6 treated us to a wonderful performance of the play Tuishi Pamoja (Starshine music).

    They were supported by wonderful singers and dancers from Years 3 to 5.

    The play celebrates friendship through diversity, which is something we see and celebrate every day in our school.

    Well done Year 6!

  • Doncaster Book Awards Finale

    26th June 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    Members of the Portals Book Club attended the final of the Doncaster Book Awards at Cusworth Hall . The students had read the books in line for the award and had voted for their favourite. Also in attendance were the library mascots, the De Warenne Dragons. The theme for the day was the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and over 350 children and staff from participating schools took part. Our group took along Brooke Ackroyd's winning entry in our design a teapot competition.

    39 students, 3 six formers, 6 staff, and then there’s Richard and Dave (the bus drivers). Well, where do we begin? On our week’s ‘holiday’, we’ve had great laughs, and discovered sleeping habits we didn’t know existed! Many ‘bonjours’ and ‘saluts’ have been used, and even though we were on a holiday and we gained quite a lot, the teachers and bus drivers still rewarded us!

    On Tuesday 25th June, staff and students from Queen Elizabeth's Academy took on the might of Mansfield Bowling Club in the David Taylor Trophy Match. A good evening was had by all involved. Unfortunately, Mansfield Bowling Club were too strong for the novices at QEA and won by a somewhat large margin.

  • London Theatre Experience

    24th June 2013 - The Vale Academy

    Another outstanding visit to London for 52 Year 8 students! Students were lucky enough to get great weather and superb views across London from the London Eye on the first day of the experience. This was followed by a meal at Planet Hollywood and an evening performance of Matilda. The second day was action packed with a tour of The Globe Theatre, a tour of The Tower of London and a matinee production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.     19th June 2013 - Park View Primary Academy

    Tonight was our first match in quite some time so we were really looking forward to our match against Beeston St Francis Primary.

    We are thrilled at the final score of 16 - 1

    Mr  Crowther was particularly pleased at the teamwork shown by all the children and effort they put in.

  • St Peter's Summer Concert

    18th June 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    St Peter's Church of England Primary School held their Summer Concert here at Queen Elizabeth's Academy on Tuesday 18th June. The Main Hall was filled with parents, family and pupils from the school all in anticipation of what turned out to be a fantastic evening of music and drama.

    The pupils were well rehearsed and the performances were spectacular. The highlight of the evening for me was the KS2 Choir who performed effortlessly in harmony and closed the evening in a highly professional manner.
