  • Richard McCann - Inspiring our Year 11

    It was Manor Croft Academy's delight to welcome Richard McCann into school today to give an inspirational speech to our Year 11 students.

    The students had spent the day completing their UCAS progress forms. Many of them had reflected throughout the day on what career path to take next. Having successfully completed the sessions they were given the opportunity to listen to a heart rendering story from Richard.

  • KS4 Badminton Success

    28th November 2013 - The Vale Academy

    Congratulations the KS4 boys team who won the North Lincs badminton competition and will play in the Humberside round in February at the Humber School Games.

    In February 2014 7 G&T students will be attending John Leggott College who have organised a Year 11 Geography afternoon for all schools in North Lincolnshire.  The College will be delivering a carouselle of activities to stretch students' learning.

    On Monday 9th December Melior will be taking 6 G&T students to Frederick Gough School to compete in the Geography Associations Worldwise Quiz against other schools in North Lincolnshire. If they win they will advance to Nationals.

    You may be aware in 2011 the Government changed the way that schools are funded. Additional funding has been awarded to schools where pupils are in receipt of free school meals or have been so in the last 6 years. It is therefore essential that EVERY family who is entitled to free school meals should apply for them and receive them.  Please see the Free School Meals letter in the Downloads section under letters to parents for further help and advice.

    A copy of the recent report for the Academy is now live on the website. There will be a meeting with the Principal on Monday 25th November at 5:00pm in the Main Hall at the Academy for all parents/carers.

  • Farmilo Enterprise Workshop

    On the Wednesday 13th November Year 5 students from Farmilo Primary School took part in an Arts afternoon to make Festive items to sell at our Victorian Christmas Market which takes place on Thursday 28th November.  The students took part in four activities: Candy Cane Holder’s, Reindeer Tree Decorations, Glass Painting and Lantern making.

  • Year 7 Street and Break Dance

    21st November 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    During this half-term in the run up to the Christmas holidays, students in Year 7 are being introduced to the art of Street and Break Dance.  Jon, the Dance Tutor, will be offering an after Academy class on Wednesdays beginning in January 2014.  Students that have taken part this half-term are invited to express interest for this club and register their names with Mrs Riley before Christmas if they would like to take part.

    21st November 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    During a visit to West Nottinghamshire College, Year 11 students enjoyed getting to grips with media equipment in a TV studio and the hub. Students experienced many of the camera techniques and equipment they have learned about in their ICT lessons. All students played important roles, such as a TV presenter, control room operator or camera operator and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.   • Academy hosts Rotary Young Chefs Competition

    19th November 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Young chefs from our academy along with students from Brunt’s and All Saints cooked up a storm on Tuesday 19th November in Food Technology.

    Their brief was to create a two course meal for 2 costing under £10.

    This was the first heat of The Rotary Clubs national competition.

    Students worked with skill and enthusiasm for 1 ½ hours creating quality, well presented dishes.

    All students taking part received positive feedback and received a certificate for taking part.

    So far to date, the Academy has raised over £271 for Children in Need 2013. There were a variety of activities run by the students which involved students on the Sixth Form Public Services Course and Enterprise activities run by a number of students in the lower school.

    A big thank you to all those students who raised this money and for using their own initiative to come up with the activities.

    Last weekend was the final trip to Ullswater for a selection of Manor Croft Academy's students. The past four trips have seen over 50 children enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Lake District. For many this was the first taste of the real outdoors and they were not dissapointed.
