    18th December 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

    Today was the first Manor Croft Academy Christmas party. Grandparents and Senior Citizens from Manor Croft residential home were invited into school for a Christmas celebration. The school wanted to say thank you to the grandparents of our students.

    Manor Croft Academy appreciates the commitment Grandparents’ give in order to help our students develop into caring, responsible young adults.

  • 'Good to be green' reward event

    17th December 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    This afternoon, we were delighted to host our first 'Good to be green' reward event!

    Children who have consistently shown fantastic behaviour around the school, have been rewarded with a ‘treat’ afternoon.

    Sam's Safari joined us to perform a pantomime and introduce a range of animals to the children.

    The children really enjoyed the afternoon! Well done to all of the green children!

  • Vocal Harmony Group Entertain Shoppers

    16th December 2013 - Melior Community Academy

    Melior's Vocal Harmony Group gave up their own time to entertain customers whilst they shopped at ASDA.

    Thank you to everyone who donated towards the Melior Music Department at ASDA on Sunday 15th December. Melior's Vocal Harmony Group did an amazing job of entertaining shoppers with many commenting on how professional they sounded - some thought we were a CD playing! In just 4 1/2 hours we raised an impressive total of £600. Thanks again to everyone at ASDA on Sunday! 

  • Primary School Christmas Card Competition....

    13th December 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

    Next week is the first primary school Christmas card competition. Bywell, Eastborough, Hanging Heaton and Chickenley have all been challenging their pupils in order to compete against one another for the overall main prize. The preliminary rounds are to be decided within each respective school, with their winning cards being sent to Manor Croft Academy in order for the grand final where the Senior Citizens' attending the Christmas party will vote on the overall winners.

  • Christmas Cake Club

    13th December 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Staff and students have been busy over the past few weeks preparing their Christmas cakes for their family festivities. The standard of the student's cake decorating skills has been exceptional. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to taste the cakes, only look at them to judge them!! (see picture above)

    It took me a long time to decide on the top three cakes as the standard really was exceptional. After long deliberation the top three were:

    Hatfield Woodhouse Primary achieve high KS2 results for 2013.

  • Doncaster Schools Table Tennis Event

    12th December 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    Congratulations to Danny Hartley and Devon Robb who won the annual KS4 Doncaster Schools Table Tennis event held at Rossington All Saints Academy. A close run completition against Don Valley , Danum and Rossington ended with an extra play-off game between the hosts and ourselves to decide the overall winner. Danny Hartley won the play off 11-5 to take the title for De Warenne. Our KS5 team also took part and finished a credible third overall. Well done to Ben Tonkinson, Brad Jackson and Macaulay Gedney.

  • Hospitality at Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    12th December 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Thursday 12th December, Sixth Form students took part in their Hospitality and Catering Controlled Assessment Event.  This event took place at the Academy in the Main Hall.  The sound of Christmas Carols welcomed parents, post 16 students and staff, where the tables were carefully decorated with a Christmas theme.

    Students then invited our visitors to taste their fantastic food and drink.  Large selections of buffet styled foods were on offer, which were all presented with amazing thought and efforts.  Th

    Would just like to say well done to the G&T KS3 students who took part in the Geography Association Worldwise Quiz on 9th December 2013 at Frederick Gough School. They finished 1st in the competition and will now go through to Nationals. Congratulations.

  • Kingswood Trip

    11th December 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    In November, 21 Year 7 students set off to the Kingswood Outdoor Activity Centre in Denaby Main. For some this was their first night away from home and so they were both excited and nervous. The first activity was bushcraft where students learnt how to make fire with a flint and stone. This was followed by the 'night line' where everyone was blindfolded and put in teams before completing a very muddy and tricky obstacle course in the pitch black.     On Tuesday 10th December the Academy’s choir, QEA Voices, took part in the annual Christmas Concert funded by Nottinghamshire County Council, “On a Festive Note”, at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham. The students had a full packed day with pre-rehearsals on the afternoon. Students took the day in their stride and were a credit to themselves and the Academy.   • Blackpool Hair Festival

    5th December 2013 - Melior Community Academy

    The Hairdressing Department will be running a trip for Year 9, 10 & 11 Hair & Beauty students to the Blackpool Hair Festival on Monday 17th March 2014.  Students will travel by coach and will leave school at approximately 8am and return at approximately 7pm.

    The students will have the opportunity to watch Hair Competitions, Visit Trades Fares and Catwalk Shows.

    The cost of the trip will be £35 and a £5 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a place. 

    Letters are being distributed to students this week.

  • Transition Thursday gets underway...!

    5th December 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

    Tonight was the first night for Transition Thursday's. The Maths department has started the ball rolling with a 3 week murder mystery investigation. Pupils from Chickenley, Eastborough and Bywell Junior Schools have been working in teams to try and identify the murderous potential of an array of suspects.

    The three week project will build students investigative skills through code breaking, team work and means of deduction.

    As Christmas is approaching, Manor Croft Academy would like to hold a Senior Citizens community event.

    We appreciate the endless work that grandparents do in order to help students through their education. The guidance, knowledge and support you pass onto our students is priceless, and we hope this party is a small gesture to show our thanks.
