    29th January 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall Launches Fruitshare!

    The River Cottage programme launched a promotion for free fruit trees for schools during the current Channel 4 series.

    With the help of the Woodland Trust and Abel & Cole, they are giving away thousands of winter-planting free packs for schools across the UK.  Hugh thinks getting children involved is a great way to build our country’s fruit stocks for the future, which is why they would love to see children all over the country planting orchards at their school

  • Celebration of the Arts

    29th January 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    Students of all ages were invited to take part in the first House Music Competition which was organised by the Y13 music group as part of their BTEC Level 3 studies the students. Students competed in three categories: vocal, keyboard and instrumental and all performers received a certificate and earned points for their house. The successful performers in each category represented their House in the finals which were staged at the ‘Celebration of the Arts’ event attended by proud parents and friends. The art

  • Sixth Form students visit Microscope facility

    28th January 2014 - Delta Academies Trust

    Sixth form students from De Warenne Academy and Rossington All Saints Academy went on a joint visit to the University of Sheffield Department of Biomedical Science electron microscope facility. The students, who are studying Level 3 Applied Science BTEC, enjoyed a guided tour of the laboratories and found out how the microscopes can be used to magnify specimens over 150,000 times.

  • De Warenne Sixth-Formers awarded

    28th January 2014 - Delta Academies Trust

    Hardworking sixth-form students from De Warenne Academy were awarded graduation certificates by the Mayor of Leeds at a ceremony at Leeds Metropolitan University. The certificates were awarded to students who successfully completed the 'Progression Module' which guides and prepares students for university applications.

  • Aladdin

    27th January 2014 - Melior Community Academy

     ‘Aladdin’ will be performed by Melior students on the evenings of 11th, 12th and 13th March, starting at 7.30pm.  The production will last approximately 2 hours 20 minutes.  Tickets will be priced at:

    £4.50 Adults

    £3.50 Children

     Tickets will go on sale week commencing 3rd February and can be purchased from Student Services, Mr Ray or Mr Lancaster.

  • Trampolining

    27th January 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    This year saw De Warenne compete in their first trampolining competition. Held at Balby Carr on 12 December, nine students represented the academy at three different levels of competition:

  • Cookery Club

    27th January 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    We will be running the Cookery Club again after the February half term holiday.


    The club will take place on Mondays from 3.30 - 4.30pm, for 6 weeks, starting on Monday 24th February and the last date will be on Monday 31st March.


    There will be a charge of £1.00 per pupil per week to cover the cost of ingedients and children will also need to bring an apron with them.



  • Road safety and Luke Potter

    24th January 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    Today the Year 8 and Year 9 students were treated to an event that combined road safety with an up and coming singer called Luke Potter.

    Luke has been touring the country, introducing his songs to the next generation. In addition to his UK tour he has recently returned from America where he has signed to the same management team as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

  • Exam Certificates

    24th January 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Students who took exams (GCSE and A Level) in summer 2013 can now collect their certificate from the Main Office. If anyone is collecting on behalf of someone else they will need a letter of authorisation from the certificate holder to hand in when collecting.

  • Indoor Athletics & Hockey Success

    23rd January 2014 - The Vale Academy

    The Vale Academy managed great success in the indoor athletics and hocket competitions, we came away with three first places and one second so all four teams will go through to the next round and represent North Lincolnshire. Well done to everyone involve!

  • Young Voices

    22nd January 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    On 20th January 2014 pupils from Years 7 and 8 travelled to Sheffield Arena to perform in the annual Young Voices concert. After months of preparation, 6000 youngsters gathered together to take part in the largest choral concert series in the world, singing songs from 1940-2014 to a paying audience of 7500.     This year has seen a change in how the students have a voice within school. Running up to Christmas, students had the opportunity of putting themselves forward for the school council.

    Over 100 students applied for the posts and the successful applicants have formed four focus groups within school. The four areas under consideration mirror the Assistant Principal roles for Teaching & Learning, Community & Transition, Achievement and Wellbeing.

  • Young Voices Concert

    20th January 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    I can now confirm the following arrangements for the Young Voices Concert on 20th January 2014 at the Sheffield Arena as follows:


    8.40 am       Students should arrive at school as normal in full school uniform.

                          Periods 1, 2 and 3 will be attended as normal.

    11.30 am     All Young Voices students will leave their lessons and meet in the Atrium to eat their packed lunches (grab bags will be arranged for pupils on Free School Meals).

    12.00 pm     Depart school for Sheffield Arena.

  • Zoo Lab - Reward Event

    20th January 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Friday the students were rewarded to a hand’s on lecture delivered by Zoo Lab. The aim of the event was to reward our students for their fantastic efforts over the previous half term. Over three hundred of the students had the opportunity to hold, or see up close, giant millipedes, giant snails, snakes, tarantula’s, crabs and a bunny rabbit for those who prefer their animals to be a little fluffier.

    18th January 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    Dermot Gascoyne an ex heavy weight boxer visited Melior through the Sky Sports for living project scheme during December. He spent 20 minutes during assembly giving an inspirational talk to Year 11 students, regarding their qualifications and ambitions in life.

    As a child Dermot engaged in all manner of sports, enjoying them all. Once he found boxing, however, he was hooked. He has no doubt that boxing provided him with a purpose and direction at a time in his life when he needed it the most. His motto is: ‘

  • Building Learning Skills Charity Donation

    17th January 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    My two Building Learning Skills classes worked on a fundraising project in the build-up to Christmas. As part of the Celebrations unit of work they used the theme of Christmas to make cards, decorations, CDs of themselves singing Christmas songs, and edible treats, all of which they sold for their chosen charities. The Year 7 group raised £23.15 for Cancer Research and the Year 8 group (of only 6 students!) raised £15.49 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I have now donated the money on their behalf. Well done t
