  • Children In Need

    15th November 2013 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    So far to date, the Academy has raised over £271 for Children in Need 2013. There were a variety of activities run by the students which involved students on the Sixth Form Public Services Course and Enterprise activities run by a number of students in the lower school.

    A big thank you to all those students who raised this money and for using their own initiative to come up with the activities.

    The children had a fun non-uniform day with many children dressing up in their favourite fancy dress costumes and raised an amazing £436.62 for Children in Need.

  • Ullswater Expedition

    Last weekend was the final trip to Ullswater for a selection of Manor Croft Academy's students. The past four trips have seen over 50 children enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Lake District. For many this was the first taste of the real outdoors and they were not dissapointed.

    A huge thank you to everyone who filled a shoebox for the Samaritan's Purse Appeal. We sent 30 shoeboxes to different parts of the world to children who are less fortunate than us.

  • Prefect & Student Leaders

    11th November 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

    The Prefect & Student Leader application forms are now available for students who wish to apply for the posts.

    The interview process will will be rigorous, including an initial paper application, short listing process, and a final interview.

    We are looking for students who feel they can help shape Manor Croft Academy into an outstanding school.

    Results are due to be released week commencing 2nd December 2013.

  • NACRO – Raising Your Game Project

    8th November 2013 - The South Leeds Academy

     NACRO the crime reduction charity have been visiting the Academy since the start of term to work with different groups of students on the Raising Your Game Project. The project involves students learning about various things such as different types of crimes and the effects it can have on the victim and a community as a whole, and the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. During the last week of term, students took part in fundraising for their chosen charity, and raised £30 for Macmillan Cancer Suppo

    The Vale Academy Year 8 Girls football team finished runners up in the Scunthorpe United Competition tonight only losing only the final match.

  • £1300 for Weston Park Teenage Cancer Unit

    5th November 2013 - De Warenne Academy

    At the end of the summer term we were pleased to support Ellie Saxton, one of our Year 10 students, whose family were raising money for Sheffield's Weston Park Cancer Hospital who were treating Ellie's father. Ellie made the brave decision to have her head shaved completely during break time on the last day of term and students and staff gave generously in support of this cause.   • Forest school visit for year 1 and 2

    4th November 2013 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Just to remind you the visits to the forest school are on Thursday for year 2 and Friday for year 1. Children will need suitable outdoor clothing and footwear as detailed in previous letter but they will need to wear their shool jumper. They also will need a packed lunch and a drink. I have contacted the forest school today and they have assured me it would be unlikely for the trip to be cancelled as they do have provision within the facility to keep us dry if needs be.   • Going for Gold in P.E.

    30th October 2013 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    Fantastic news! The Government are desperate to increase physical activity in primary schools.

    With this in mind, we are currently working hard to see how we can improve P.E. in our school as we have some fantastic athletes!

  • Year 11 Careers event at Leeds United

    21st October 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

    Last week all Year 11 students visited Leeds United on a fact finding mission about their careers. The students attended the fair to initiate contact with local colleges, businesses and apprenticeship firms.

    There were stalls representing an array of industries. An event such as this was vital in order for our students to ensure they start thinking about their post 16 pathways.     On Monday we had two African workshops taking place to introduce our Black History focus week. We had lots of fun learning about African culture and tradition through drumming and mask making workshops.

  • Autumn Fair

    Students of The Vale Academy successfully conducted the autumn fair on Thursday afternoon. The fair saw many different types of stalls with various prizes and items for sale. Raffle draws, paper aeroplane competitions, cake stalls, food & drinks, lipstick the teacher, popcorn, candyfloss, soak-a-student and much more.

    We had a great turn out and would like to thank the many visitors who came to support. E3 managed to raise the most money from our tutor groups, well done!

  • Wallace Hartley Titanic Violin Trip

    On Monday the 14th of October 12 students who had helped the English department out with their Titanic- themed Open Evening event were lucky enough to visit Dewsbury Town Hall to see Wallace Hartley's world-famous violin on display before it goes on sale for auction.

  • ASDA 'Tickled Pink' Bag Pack

    15th October 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

    This weekend twelve Year 8 students from Manor Croft Academy gave up their Saturday morning to raise money for ASDA's 'Tickled Pink' campaign. Our volunteers worked from 9.00am in the morning until 3.00pm offering help to saturday shoppers. Their combined efforts raised £368 pounds for the foundation. A truly magnificent effort from students so young.
