    6th March was World Book Day. It was AMAZING for staff to share their personal love of reading with all our learners. The day was fun and memorable. Staff dressed up as book characters and the Inclusion Team were awarded for the best dressed Department.

  • Youth Music Festival

    In March the De Warenne samba group and choir took part in the regional 'Youth Music' Festival in Garforth. The ensembles had been working incredibly hard in preparation for this event under the guidance of their ex pert music directors and the students loved every minute of the day.     We would like to congratulate and say well done to the following students Millie Hart, Ellie Dickinson, Kurtis Johnson, Scott Dixon, Emily Barker, Elly Mills and Nathan LeQuelenec. Last night, for the first time, Melior students competed in the Scunthorpe Musical Festival. They were entered into the Musical Theatre Group category and WON IT with their live version of 'Avenue Q' musical.

  • QEA Visit to Nottingham Trent University

    5th March 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Wednesday 5th March a group of Year 7 and Year 8 students had the opportunity to visit Nottingham Trent University City Campus.  The purpose of the visit was to take part in and experience the Diversity of the University in their celebration of Global Week.

    Students were welcomed at the impressive reception by Nayala Rehmat, Partnership Manager for Nottingham Business School.  Students were invited to have their lunch whilst they were entertained by “Belly Dancing and Taekwondo”. The students show casing

  • Jumping for Joy!

    5th March 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    Following their success in the Doncaster Schools’ Trampolining Competition where they qualified for the South Yorkshire Finals the De Warenne trampolining teams committed themselves to intensive training and preparation.

    In January they went to Sheffield to compete in the finals and, with Balby Carr School, were the Doncaster representatives.TV fame accompanied the team as the event was covered by BBC Look North. They also appeared in the Sheffield Star newspaper.

  • Young Enterprise

    2nd March 2014 - The Vale Academy

    Another successful day for The Young Enterprise team.... they didn't sell out this time but they did win an award for the best product. There was a lot of competition with about 20 other teams attending the trade fair so the team did really well to win this award.

  • Year 8 Netball

    The year 8 netball team finished second in the North Lincs tournament and will go on to represent North Lincs at the Humber School Games in April.

  • Pintsize Theatre Visit

    On Friday 28th February 2014 Year 8 Students received a performance from the Pintsize Theatre Company.  The production of ’I Want! I Want!’ focused on four separate birthdays in the life of Rosie, a young female motor mechanic who is being put under enormous pressure to get drunk on her 18th birthday.   • ENCORE 2014 for Years 7-10

    Due to the phenomenal success of ENCORE last year, we have decided to run this trip in 2014.

    The weekend will consist of Workshops led by top dancers and choreographers; live performances from some of the best Street Dance Crews in the UK as well as performances from reality TV stars from Got to Dance, Britain’s Got talent and the X Factor Dancers.

    Accommodation will be based at the resort (Brean Sands, Somerset) and in their popular chalets.

  • Young Enterprise

    25th February 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    A small group of our Year 10 students will be attending Forest Pines this evening to participate in the Young Enterprise Workshop.  They will be designing personalised mobile phone cases.  They will then attend a competition at Baths Hall in April and if successful will progress onto regional competitions. Updates will be provided on Facebook and on the Academy's website.

    Destined to be on broadway? You could get there sooner than you think! Melior Community Academy are organising a NEW YORK TRIP for Easter 2016!!

    There will be a general parent/student meeting on 17th March 2014 at 6:00pm in the Atrium for any student in years 7/8/9 who would like to find out more information and to show their interest in this subject.

    Direct Payments Service Users Ltd, are local charity and assist over 2,000 people across Nottinghamshire County and Nottingham City to remain in their own homes and communities.  They are a proud disabled person’s user led organisation.
