  • Sport Relief 2014 at De Warenne Academy

    21st March 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    De Warenne Academy’s Fund Raising Committee lead by Danii Taylor organised an amazing Sport Relief event on Friday 21 March as students and staff donned their sports kits and teachers challenged students to a variety of sport events.

    The challenges ranged from who can hula hoop the longest, the most flexible, running, table tennis, killer basketball, rope climbing and can you shoot a golf ball 10 metres into a bucket to name but a few. The whole day was great fun and an event to remember especially as the hu

  • Spelling Bee

    21st March 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    We are pleased to annouce the return of the Wainwright Primary Academy Spelling Bee.


    Children will take home words to learn over the next few days. The class teachers will then arrange for a class spelling competition for the children who want to take part & the winners will go through to the year group final.


    A year group final will then be held & the overall group winner will recieve a prize. All children taking part will recieve a certificate.

    Pupils from Farmilo Primary School took part in activities to raise money for Sport Relief on 21st Marrch 2014 at Queen Elizabeth's Academy. Sports Leaders from QEA led events and much fun was had by all.

    Year 3 had the opportunity to visit Sherwood Pines on Thursday 13th March 2014. This trip was to help develop working together as a team & thinking skills. Activities included den building & being an animal detective. You will find our photographs here!

  • Science week - Year 5 Ash Hill Academy visit

    19th March 2014 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    This week Year 5 were lucky enough to be invited to Ash Hill Academy, to participate in Science Week events.

    The theme was 'Mission to Mars'.  The children researched the planets, looked at rocket fuel and investigated DNA!  The children (and staff) really enjoyed the ice cream making and tasting segment!

    18th March 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Mrs Grant invites all to come along and join in with the Academy’s Magazine Club.  A group of students have been working together on developing the magazine club over last term and now wanting to recruit new members to come along and join in the fun! 

    They are interested in looking for news stories and new ideas to write about. They would like to cover regular topics such as the Weather, Charities, Star Signs and Sport and would like new reporters who are interested in these areas to come along and join in w

  • 4D - Forest School

    17th March 2014 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    4D are now back in full-swing with the Forest School sessions now follwing the miserable, winter weather!

    The children are really enjoying the sessions and working extremely hard. Last week we measured perimeter in the woodland using only natural resources (which was easy for the children). They worked in groups to create 2D shapes from sticks or twigs then measured them using a tape measure.

    We also told some stories based on clay figures we made, which were brilliant. All of the kids used their imagination

  • Football Match

    14th March 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    We organised a football match for the children that particpate in our weekly After School Football Club. The children played against Kingsway Primary School on Thursday 13th March 2014 & won 3-1! We are very proud, the children did a great job!

  • Twycross Zoo

    13th March 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    Year 4 had an amazing opportunity to visit Twycross Zoo as part of our Amazon Rainforest Topic on Tuesday 11th March 2014.


    They will be took part in various investigational activities around the zoo including a Rainforest explorer & adaptation & habitat sessions with the zoo keepers. They had the opportunity to take part in supervised access to & handling of smaller rainforest creatures.

    Aladdin is getting RAVE reviews! Make sure you get your ticket to avoid disappointment! There are some left for Wednesday 12th March and only a few for Thursday 13th. Our Dame and Evil Abanazar seem to be enjoying the experience!

  • 3C Forest School

    12th March 2014 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    3C started their Forest School sessions last week and have had the added benefit of sunshine for both sessions. They have melted marshmallows on the campfire, started using hand tools to whittle wood, built shelters and climbed trees.

    Today the children worked in pairs and small groups to complete the Woodland Trust's Diamond Challenge. This involved using viewfinders and taking photographs from different viewpoints, such as the viewpoint of a bird or insect. This challenge will help us to earn more points s

  • Jared Beasley's Personal Achievement

    11th March 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    Jared a Year 7 student at Melior Community Academy participated in the British Judo Championships at Sheffield on Saturday 8th March 2014. There was a total of 525 competitors competing in various categories. Jared was entered into the Year 6 and Year 7 under 27kg Category and won a Bronze medal.

    We would like to congratulate Jared on this achievement and wish him the best of luck with his Judo for the future.


  • Big Sing

    11th March 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    A “Big Sing Event” was held on Tuesday 11th March, students from across the whole of Nottinghamshire were invited to take part in this event. This was organised by Nottinghamshire County Council's Music Hub.  Mark De Lisser from ACM Gospel Choir led the workshop. In previous years, Mark De Lisser coached on the TV programme “The Voice”.

  • Brass Master Class 2014

    10th March 2014 - The Vale Academy
    We were honoured to hold a master class given by Christopher Deacon at The Vale Academy. Christopher is at present, principal trumpet with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia but also works with some of the finest orchestras of Great Britain, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.  

    He has played the trumpet on the soundtrack of many films including Harry Potter and is the soloist for the Coronation Street theme tune. Students from other secondary and primary schools were treated
