  • Architecture Project

    13th January 2014 - The South Leeds Academy

    Undergraduates from the University of Sheffield have been encouraging our students to develop their design and architectural skills through a series of practical workshops. Challenged with redesigning a study space, students were instructed to think critically about a given environment and tasked with devising ways to improve the space. The group was split into two teams and then given a kit of parts. Using the resources, some very interesting and very tall structures were created.

  • Role play - The Christmas Story

    In 3R, we role played the Christmas story.  Then, we freeze framed the action and thought about how the people in the story might have felt.  It was lots of fun!

  • Enterprise Year 5

    8th January 2014 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    We are really proud of Year 5 who managed to raise over £80 at the Christmas market, through running their own enterprise stall.

    The children made and sold pottery Christmas decorations. They also made up some games and Evie and her Grandmother made a cake that we cut up and sold.

    The class have decided to buy some new books and games with some of the money and then they have decided to save the rest, so they can add more money to their funds in future,

    Many thanks for everyones help and support during the Christmas shows, parties and activities. The children thouroughly enjoyed performing for you! Our collections raised £50 for the John Eastwood Hospice. Thank you to the parents who helped organise the Hamper Raffle - they raised a fantastic £425 towards the Christmas avtivities for the children.

  • Ready Steady Cook

    6th January 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    De Warenne's caterers, Chartwells, organised another of their fabulous ready, steady cook-style competitions for our Year 7 students.

    The Red Team - Abbie Trow (Head Girl), Mrs Steele, Sasha Wordsworth (Oak) and Nicholas Nicola (Willow) - competed against the Green team - Danii Taylor (Deputy Head Girl), Mrs Clayton, Elle Brailey (Beech) and Nathan Edwards (Holly).

    Following a very informative session on nutrition and healthy eating, both teams quickly got to work and made some fantastic food in just 15 minut

  • BMXing at The Works

    6th January 2014 - The South Leeds Academy

    The generous staff at The Works Skatepark in Hunslet, donated several BMXing sessions to ten lucky students. The boys and girls made the most of the sessions by learning new tricks and daring to ride the ramps.

  • Doncaster Schools Athletic Championships

    5th January 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    On Tuesday the 26th of November, selected students from Years 8 and 10 were taken to compete at the Doncaster schools indoor athletic championships against ten different schools in Doncaster. The event was held at the EIS (English Institute of Sport) in Sheffield. As the schools gathered in the incredible athletics stadium the Under 13 girls competitors were preparing for their 200m event, which was the first event of the day.   • Students Impress at University Conference

    Despite the blustery weather, three of our brightest and most determined students, braved the elements to participate in the annual ‘Leaders for Leeds’ Conference hosted at The University of Leeds.   • School Christmas Concert

    20th December 2013 - Manor Croft Academy

    Thursday night was an amazing event for all those parents and students that took part. The night was filled with student demonstrations from the various Performing Arts clubs that are available at the school. The hour and a half performance included no less than 15 acts ranging throughout our age groups.

    The initial presentation was by Miss Graham who introduced work completed by her GCSE and Key Stage 3 students. All the work had been completed under her guidance during art sessions within and after school.

    Manor Croft Academy, and especially every student that was blessed to have Mr Tonner as their headmaster, wish him all the best for his retirement.

    The students who have been taught by Mr Tonner over the past few years expressed their thanks with messages and pictures that were converted into a memory book. The student gesture was presented to him yesterday afternoon at his retirement party. The Earlsheaton area has lost a true gentleman, one that has had a huge impact on many of our families here at Manor C
