  • BLACKPOOL HAIR FESTIVAL 2014

    28th March 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    A group of students who are studying hairdressing in the sixth form recently attended the Blackpool Hair Festival. This is a national competition where students can both compete and spectate. The standard is high as competitors come from salons and colleges all over the country.   • DFE Visit

    28th March 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Friday 28th March we were visited by Andrew George (DFE Academies’ Performance Division) and Rob Briscoe (DFE Education Adviser). The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the progress made by the Academy since the last DFE visit in November 2013. This visit is not related to Ofsted/HMI and the visitors report back to Ministers within the Government. Both visitors were satisfied by the progress which the Academy has made in the last term and will not be visiting the Academy again. The DFE will continue to

  • Arabian Nights

    28th March 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Approximately 20 year 7 students were invited to the lakeside Centre at Nottingham University to watch a production of 'Arabian Nights.' The actors engaged with the audience bartering and handing out gold coins while a complicated tale of Kings, thieves and cunning young women unravelled. The funniest character was by far the blind doctor who had the audience in stitches. We will definitely be back for any future theatre performances and it was great to see many actors of secondary school age.

  • New Build Update - March 2014

    27th March 2014 - The Vale Academy

    Survey work has started on site at The Vale Academy to finalise the feasibility study, this will ensure the new academy can be built on the existing academy site. Theodolite surveying of the site is well underway and today saw the start of bore hole drilling to check suitability of the land. An exciting time for everyone at the academy!

  • Give it 100% Competition

    27th March 2014 - Park View Primary Academy

    As you may be aware, Miss Wilson is running a ‘Give it 100%’ competition for attendance in March. The children who come to school every day are in with a chance of winning some brilliant prizes. All names will be added to a draw and prizes will be handed out.

    So far, 162 children have achieved 100% attendance this month. WELL DONE and GOOD LUCK!!!!!

  • Guiness World Record Attempt

    27th March 2014 - Park View Primary Academy

    One of the fun methods we use in school, to warm up the children’s hands for writing is the Dough Disco. This is where we dance to music using play dough, the children may have mentioned it! We took part in a Dough Disco world record attempt on Monday 3rd March 2014, we have submitted our evidence. We will let you know as soon as we hear if our World Record Attempt was successful!!!

  • Brigg Music Festival

    26th March 2014 - The Vale Academy

    This week has seen the annual Music Festival in Brigg with many of our music students playing with great success.  Of the Brass ensemble, the international flautist adjudicator added, “love the ending, really exciting.”  The woodwind group, after playing Raiders March and Chariots of Fire were praised with the comments the students were “lucky to play in such an ensemble” and “absolutely brilliantly worthwhile…”.  The Samba played particularly well with more positive comments such as “they are fantastic” an

    We would like to congratulate Miss Graney as she has successfully applied for a new post at Skegby Junior Academy. She will begin work there after Easter. We will be very sorry to see her leave Wainwright, but wish her all the best for the future.

    The Night at the Movies promotion offers customers the chance to win a £10 Vue Cinema voucher every day next week (31st March - 4th April) when they buy a Pasta King pasta pot. If you find a crown sticker on the bottom of your pot then you are a winner.

  • Coffee Morning

    We held a Coffee Morning on Friday 21st March & raised £30.00. Thank you to everyone who came along!

  • Academy Closure

    24th March 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Due to industrial action taking place by NUT members, the Academy will be closed to students on Wednesday 26th March 2014. Normal running will resume on Thursday 27th March 2014.

    Some students may recieve a letter requesting them to come into the Academy on Wednesday by staff who are not taking part in the action, these are for revision and intervention sessions. Any student who has an exam taking place on Wednesday 26th March is expected to attend that exam and these exams will be staffed.

  • Sports Relief - Over 700 pounds raised!

    21st March 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    Manor Croft Academy students have raised over 700 hundred pounds by wearing sportswear for the day.

    Many students donated one pound to Sport Relief to be rid of their uniform for the day. Other students took their own initiative by conducting their own sponsored silences. The PE department have been working with all students in lessons to ensure they have had the opportunity to ‘run a mile’ for the Sports Relief campaign.

    1. Revise the poems(16) in the anthology  - they have many notes on these

    2  Revise Novel Of Mice and Men -it would be a good idea to read this again; this takes about 5/6 hours.

    3. Revise 2 plays a) A View from the Bridge / Romeo and Juliet

    You should be aiming to use the GCSe Podcasts so that you can listen on your Ipods whilst comiing to and going home from school.

    You should aim to complete at least 1 hour's revision each week,  3 would be better.

  • Rewards Event - Magic Time!

    21st March 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Thursday 20th March over 350 Manor Croft Academy students experienced a unique reward event.

    Sam Fitton kindly agreed to shun the corporate hospitality circuit so he could inspire our students into a career that may not be on their usual ‘maybe I could do’ list. With the art of distraction Sam managed to stun the audience into silence, time and time again.

    The presentation highlighted to our students that making a career out of something you love is certainly possible!
