  • Strike Postponed

    10th October 2014 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    We have been informed that Unison have posponed their planned strike action on Tuesday 14th October. This means the academy will now be open to all pupils and school photographs will go ahead on this day as planned.


    10th October 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with change4life (as seen on TV) and as a result of this we are able to put on two after school clubs, on a Monday for Years 3, 4 and 5 and a Thursday for Years 1 and 2.

    We have been provided with a fantastic kit bag of new equipment and game ideas. The change4life program will also be run along side a fun fit club which many of the children are already familiar with and enjoy. This is an after school club that is non contact, high eneergy and extremely enj

  • Year 7 Introductory Parent's Evening

    9th October 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Tuesday our new Year 7 parent’s had the opportunity to meet with Form Tutors. The night had a good attendance with parent’s discussing the progress of their child for the first half term.

    These meetings are vital to ensure our students transition well from our feeder Junior School’s to Manor Croft Academy.

  • Students Remember World War 1 Day

    8th October 2014 - Hanson School

    On Friday 11th July, 75 Hanson Year 7 students were invited to sing and perform drama at Undercliffe World War 1 Commemoration Day.  We walked up to the cemetery in the morning and did two performances to various audiences attending the open day.  We also got to watch a drama performance about World War 1 and look at the war graves of soldiers who had attended Hanson School.   It was a spectacular day and the sun shone beautifully.  It helped us remember those people who have given their lives not just in W

  • Years 1 & 2 Visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    8th October 2014 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    Last Friday 3rd October our Year 1 and 2 classes went on a trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster. This was a big hit with both chidren and staff and a great time was had by everyone.

    All the children were very well behaved and represented Simpson's Lane Academy perfectly.

  • Academy Open As Usual on 14th October

    You may be aware that UNISON, GMB and possibly UNITE representing support staff in schools have voted to take industrial action in the form of a one-day National strike on Tuesday 14th October 2014.

    The disruption created by these strikes, and the need to have regard to the health and safety of pupils, has caused the academy to decide whether or not to remain open to pupils.

    Our kitchen staff will be preparing a special bonfire night menu on Wednesday 5th November 2014.

    The children will have the following meal:

    Hot-dogs with onions and tomato ketchup with wedges, mushy peas and sweetcorn

    Yet another year has passed and we come again to the Bradford Club to celebrate Year 13 success in Science. This Years King and Queen of Science, Kushal Rattu and Sanita Sandhu were much deserved winners of these coveted awards but not the only recipients acknowledged for their efforts in the Subject. Certificates were given out for the 'Just got out of Bed Award, the 'Most Distracting Person in a Lesson Award' and the 'Longest Serving Award' given to Luke Tetley who must now be

  • French Trip to London

    7th October 2014 - Hanson School

    10 Year 10 students on a day trip to London where they met their French pen-pals who had come to England on a school trip from Bordeaux. It was a fantastic experience where Hanson pupils had the chance to put their language skills into practice whilst taking in the sights of London such as The British Museum, Covent Garden and an entertaining River Cruise down the Thames! A very successful trip and the first of many to come.

    Wainwright Primary Academy will no longer be closed on Tuesday 14th October as the strike action has been cancelled. School will be open as normal for pupils.

  • Work Experience

    7th October 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    June 2014 saw our Year 10 students embark on their two weeks of practical work experience.

    This year we had a marked increase in the number of employers willing to offer placements and broaden the variety and quality in areas such as pharmaceutical and engineering where of particular note was a unique opportunity to work in the aeronautical stress testing industry. Partnerships this year included Doncaster Council, The Racecourse, Doncaster Dome, Bridon, Senior Architectural Systems and Cooplands.

  • Key Stage 1 Sports Day!

    Our Sports Day held in September was a great sucess. All the children did really well and we appreciate the time that parents took to come and support their children!
