  • A Class Act

    29th April 2014 - The Vale Academy

    Year 11 student Joe represented the academy last night and was quite amazing, winning through to the final on June 9th 2014 of A Class Act. There is a £2,000 prize for the winner. Please go along and support Joe in the final! Well done.

  • New Vice Principal

    25th April 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Interviews were held last week for the position of Vice Principal at Queen Elizabeth's Academy. The initial number of applications received numbered well over twenty. Six applicants were shortlisted for a two day interview and selection process from the national field of over twenty candidates.

    Following two rigorous days of interviewing and selection tasks, Mrs Karen Green was appointed Vice Principal at the Academy. Mrs Green has been at the Academy since October 2012 and has led on the areas of inclusion

  • Y11 Maths at Nottingham University

    24th April 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Year 11 students with a predicted grade of B/A or A* were invited to take part in a day of revision at Nottingham University.  Students were taught by University staff highlighting three Maths topics which included: Algebra, Space & Shape and Trigonometry.  Students also took part in a study skills session which helped them learn about the best way for them to revise and plan their time around the core exam period.

  • Charitable Donations

    In the Autumn term pupils donated 2860 VIVOs split between Help for Heroes and Teenage Cancer Trust.

    A massive thank you to those generous pupils who kindly donated. Donation amounts ranged from just a single VIVO to 600 VIVOs from one child - every single one of these will go to help those less fortunate.

  • Year 5/6 - Primary Athletics Competition

    7th April 2014 - Delta Academies Trust

    As part of the overall development of school sport across the trust we are proud to announce the first Schools Partnership Trust Primary Sportshall Athletics Competition.

    This will take place on Friday 11th July 2014 at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Teams should arrive no later than 12:30pm to register ready for a 1:00pm start. The event should finish around 3:00pm each school can enter 1 team in total. A team is made up of 20 children (10 boys and 10 girls).

  • Memorial Bench

    7th April 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    Many of you contributed towards a bench in memory of Sally Mulliss. She worked at our school as a Midday Supervisor, until she sadly lost her long battle with illness. The bench is located in our Friendship Garden, if you would like to visit the garden, it is accessible at the beginning & end of the school day. A group of Year 4 pupils have offered to be 'gardeners' & look after the garden.

    We are absolutely delighted to share with you the outcomes from our latest Ofsted inspection. The overall judgement awarded to our school was ‘Good’ and we are thrilled with this outcome as we feel it recognises all the hard work of our dedicated team.

    We feel the inspection was accurate and fair and are particularly pleased that it acknowledges how as a team we ‘work well together for the good of the pupils.’

  • Late Arrivals

    If your child arrives at school after 9.00am they need to come in through the main entrance & be registered at the office.

     

    We will continue to work hard to ensure that all of our children arrive at school on time every day (before 9.00am). There are currently 8 children who continue to arrive late on a regular basis.

  • Parent Members Required!

    As you may be aware, the Governing Body was restructured in October to become the Education Advisory Body at the Academy. There are two parent representative places on this body and we currently have two vacancies for parent members to join the EAB.

    There is a requirement to complete a Skills Audit to ensure we have a complete range of skills within the membership of the EAB and a meeting with the Chair of the EAB and myself will take place before a recommendation is made to the Sponsor to appoint to the EAB

    We have been informed by Education Catering that they will need to put their prices up after Easter. As from Tuesday 22nd April the cost of a school dinner will be £2.10 per day/£10.50 per week.

  • Creative Art Exhibition

    Mansfield Museum will be playing host to Queen Elizabeth’s Academy, for their Exhibition of Creative Art.  Friday 4th April will see the exciting launch of the Exhibition when parents and carers of the Year 9, 11 and Post 16 students will view the master pieces and hard work being displayed for the first time. The Academy’s Creative Arts students were really excited to take this opportunity to showcase their excellent quality of work and achievements.

  • North Lindsey College Engineering Challenge

    31st March 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    The Annual North Lindsey Engineering Challenge did not disappoint.  Six Year 9 students from Melior were selected to represent the Academy and what a brilliant job they did against 12 other local Secondary Schools. 

    The team made up of 3 boys and 3 girls (Corey Clapton, Matthew Falshaw, Harvey Gough, Rebecca Dunn, Meghan Lister and Molly Craig) were led by a Team Captain.
