    23rd October 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Thursday 11th September students from the Academy took part in an Inspiration day at Sherwood Pines along with Farmilo and St Peters Primary School around 100 students were invited to take part in this project across the three schools. The project was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War the students had the chance to experience replica trench area reconstructed at Sherwood Pines which was formally known as Clipstone Camp Site and was used as a base camp during Worl

  • Wicked Trip

    23rd October 2014 - Hanson School

    45 Hanson students embarked on a journey to see Wicked The Musical at the Apollo Theatre in London. The show is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and students from years 9-13 were in awe of "the untold story of the witches of Oz". We had a wonderful time and the show was fantastic. All of our students behaved impeccably and even coped with the hour delay on the motorway meaning it became an even longer day! All worth it for the amazing set, acting, singing and dancing. Well done Hanson!

  • Parents' Evening!

    22nd October 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    Parents' Evening will be taking place on Tuesday 4th November and Thursday 6th November 2014. Please complete the reply slip and return to your child's class teacher so that they can find you a time close to your preference. All consultations will take place in the Main School Hall and will last for 10 minutes.

  • Students attend Science STEM Workshops

    21st October 2014 - Hanson School

    13 students from Year 7 were selected to attend 3 exciting STEM workshops lead by University professionals aimed to get students enthused in science. They had a wonderful day learning about 'why toast always lands butter side down', 'ultimate forces',.The day ended with the gory 'Dr Death's Medi-Evil Medicine Show' Further photos available from our Facebook page.

    Melior will be holding an Encore 2014 Parent Information Evening on Wednesday 22nd October 2014.  The evening will commence at 6.00pm and will be held in the Atrium.

  • Visit from Simon Spark

    21st October 2014 - Worlaby Academy

    Class 3 have been learning about journalistic writing and we were extremely lucky to receive a visit from Simon Spark (Look North reporter) today. Mr Spark showed us the equipment he uses to record his interviews and he spoke to us about what his job involves. We learnt a lot, but we are not sure we would like to be a journalist after hearing about the early starts!

    Mr Rhodes and his Year 3 class visited The Deep on Wednesday 15th October. Everyone had a great day and even the weather held off for their journey into the city centre.

  • Year 2's Trip to Densholme Farm

    Mrs Smith and our Year 2's went out to Densholme Farm near Hornsea earlier this month. Sadly the weather was anything but dry, but that didn't stop the fun. They spent the day meeting the farms animals, collecting the eggs and built scarecrows as well as a visit to their own windfarm.

  • SPTA 'Let's Get Lost Art's' Festival

    21st October 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    A selection of our finest Drama and Music students embarked on a weekend of performance in Doncaster.

    The weekend was called the ‘Let’s Get Lost’ dedicated to the Art’s and involved a number of SPTA schools. The students rotated through workshops during the day which all built up to evening performances with a real theatre.

    Saturday was dedicated to drama and Sunday was all about the music. Our students were fantastic offering solo drumming performances and taking the lead with solo music pieces.

  • Silent Disco

    20th October 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    Pop takes on Indie at the Baths Hall's first ever Silent Disco.  You pick the music, featuring mainstream pop hits from Rita Ora and Iggy Azalea to Indie Classics fromt the Stone Roses, Blur, Oasis and many more.  The event takes place on Friday 24th october 2014 at Baths Hall, Scunthorpe.

    Under 16's Event starts at 6.00pm

    Over 16's Event starts at 9.30pm

    £5 for under 16's and those with Student Cards, alternatively £6 all others.

    Harvest Festival will be at 9am on Tuesday 21st October. Please come along and join us as we think about harvest time and sharing the world's resources.

    On Thursday 16th October we had a visit from Shaun Ringwood from the Scunthorpe Telegraph. He was alerted to a news story at Worlaby Academy following the crash landing of a space ship in our playground!

    Mr Ringwood came to talk to us about the role of a journalist and invited us to write a page of news for the Scunthorpe Telegraph. WATCH OUT FOR THIS!

  • ‘Yorkshire Skills’ Career Event for Year

    17th October 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Thursday 16th October all Year 11 students had the opportunity to visit Elland Road for the ‘Yorkshire Skill’s’ annual careers fair.

    Over 140 students participated in the trip. This enabled our learners the opportunity to talk with key recruitment agencies and post 16 establishment’s about their next career choices. Local Colleges, Sixth Forms and even Universities were there to help students understand the required qualifications and process they must undertake if they wish to follow their chosen career

  • Lantern Workshop

    16th October 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Year 5 and 6 from Crescent and Farmilo Primary School's took part in a lantern workshop to make large scale lanterns out of willow. These lanterns will be displayed at our Victorian Market, when the children will be showcasing their hard work.

  • Money Raised for Macmillan

    14th October 2014 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    A big thankyou to everyone who came to our Macmillan coffee morning and especially to all those who baked some lovely cakes and buns!

    We raised in total £231 for a really worthy cause!

    The total collected so far from all the coffee mornings held in the country is £10.6 million pounds
