  • National Recognition for Student

    17th November 2014 - Hanson School

    Head Boy Sukhpreet Shergill along with Sarish Saqhir were selected from more than 40,000 young people accross the UK for their social action project aimed at supporting the homeless in Bradford. Sukhpreet helped make up and deliver hampers for the homeless and distribute them at a shelter in the city.  Sukhpreet had this to say about the experience.   • Year 12 Presentation Evening

    Reminder that on Thursday 20th November we will be holding our Year 12 Presentation Evening.  Letters have been issued to all last years' former students inviting them to this event.  During this evening students will awarded with their GCSE Certificates.  It will be the first opportunity for us to celebrate both your individual achivements and your achievements as a cohort.

  • Operation Christmas Child

    17th November 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Over the last four weeks, students and staff have been collecting goods/goodies and organising the Shoe Boxes which will go to support children worldwide to show the true meaning of Christmas.

    On Monday 17th November, Year 8 students visited Chesterfield Road Methodist Church to deliver the Academy’s annual collection of Shoe Boxes!

    This year our students kindly volunteered not only to deliver the Shoe Boxes but they also supported the volunteers at the Methodist Church to check and pack more shoeboxes. Well

    14th November 2014 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    In response to feedback from many parents, postal workers, delivery drivers, visitors and other stakeholders, regarding the location of our academy entrance/office, we would like to inform you as from Monday 17th November, our remodeled main office will be situated in its previous location (near the car park).

    Please note, that the current office will not be supervised so could you please ensure that the new entrance to the used from Monday morning.



  • Visit to the Holocaust Centre

    During the first half of the autumn term the Y10 GCSE History groups visited The Holocaust Centre in Newark. The aim of the visit was to help pupils understand a little of what life would have been like for Jewish people living in Germany before and during WW2.

    When we first arrived the group were asked to think about the choices that people make and what could and would persuade you to make a choice that could change history, either on an individual level or as part of a much greater force. We discussed the

    Some of our Year 1 and 2 children took part in 8 mini athletic activities such as javlin and relay at the Manor Sports Festival on Thursday 13th November. They showed team work and brilliant sportsmanship!

  • Sponsored Walk in aid of former student

    13th November 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    During the Summer term QEA held a sponsored walk to support an ex pupil Brenon Coates who in 2012 suffered a life altering accident. The students of Queen Elizabeth’s Academy took part in a sponsored walk at the Academy and are trying to raise funds to support Brenon’s intensive physiotherapy programme which could help Brenon possibly walk again.

    Not only did students raise money through the sponsored walk but three year 9 girls also wrote to Tesco to ask for support in providing refreshment sales to contrib

  • Non-Uniform Day for Children in Need

    As a result of the students’ fantastic work during Ofsted last week and to support Children in Need, there will be a non uniform day tomorrow (14th November). As usual pupils can wear smart casual non uniform clothes if they pay a ‘fine’ of £1.

  • Recognisation by CDET

    We are delighted to announce that once again Mr Lancaster (Learning Leader of Creative Arts) has been recognised by the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) for the second year running. We are pleased to say that Melior is the only secondary school in the area to be awarded this recognition which states that the Performing Arts Education is outstanding and follows the rigorous guidelines set out by the council. 


  • Victorian Christmas Market

    13th November 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    Queen Elizabeth Academy will be holding their annual Victorian Christmas Market on Thursday 27th November. The market will be taking place on the academy site and will start at 5.30pm.

    There will be stalls full of Christmas goodies for all the family and an array of laterns provided by Farmilo, Crescent and Flying High Academy will bring the venue to life!

    There will be performances from Pleasley Colliery Brass Band and the Queen Elizabeth's Family of Schools.

  • Children in need

    Please remember on Friday 14th November the academy will be holding a non uniform day in return for a donation to go towards Children in Need.


    We will also be selling a range of tasty treats, from our tuck shop, at breaktime and after school


    Any money raised will go direct to Children in Need


  • Free SEAL Course for Parents

    13th November 2014 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    We will be running a SEAL course for parents about 'How to Manage Children's Behaviour'. The course will be free of charge and will run for 7 weeks, starting on Wednesday 19th November from 1.00pm - 3.20pm in the Community Building.
