  • Students help ex-forces education charity

    25th November 2014 - The Elland Academy

    Twenty-five students from the newly formed Elland Academy have learnt about the importance of remembrance this week, thanks to SkillForce -  an education charity that draws on the values of ex-Forces personnel.

  • Candlelight Concert

    24th November 2014 - Hanson School

    We are once again looking forward to our yearly Christmas Candlelight Concert to be held on Thursday 11th December, 6.30 pm. at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Idle. The evening will be rounded off with mulled wine and mince pies for everyone.  Tickets are available from Student Reception £3.00 / £2.00 concessions.

  • Healthier Packed Lunches

    Update:

    Jane has been back in school today and met with our School Council. They discussed the different foods that we might have in our packed lunches and tried to find some healthy alternatives. Our councillors had some great ideas about how they would like to improve our lunchtimes.

     

    In the New Year Jane will be holding a session for parent's and will be working with all pupils in school. More information to follow.

  • GCSE Certificates

    21st November 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    For those ex-students who did not attend Year 12 Presentation Evening last night your GCSE Certificates can be collected from Student Services. Please note the certificates have to be signed for.   If you are unable to collect your certificates in person then you must send in written confirmation for someone else to collect them on your behalf.

  • 3rd Place in U15 Netball Finals

    Congratulations to our U15 netball team. They came 3rd in the Emerging League Finals playing some fantastic games. Well Done!

  • Non-uniform day Friday 21st November

    21st November 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    MCA are holding a non-uniform day on Fri 21st Nov for Anti Bullying week. Students pay £1 towards the school Anti Bullying fund and wear something BLUE. No fancy dress please, only clothes suitable and appropriate for school.

    Thank you to eveyone who took part in our non uniform day, your generous donations along with the bun sale raised a whopping £174.37p for Children in Need.

  • Enterprise Day

    20th November 2014 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    9 children accompanied by Mrs Leslie went to the Global Enterprise Day at The Guildhall. Their challenge was to create an App linked to City of Culture 2017. The children worked extremely hard and put their Big 13 skills to good use. It was a fantastic day.

    The Tigers class visited Archbishop  Sentamu where they spent the morning learning to make a comic strip.

  • Anti-Bullying Week 17th - 21st November

    To support Anti-Bullying week Melior are doing the following:

    placing posters around the academy

    asking all Year 7, 8 & 9 students to sign an Anti-Bullying pledge (see below) and to design their own posters

    Year 10 & 11 students are watching the 'Lets Fight it Together' DVD. Discussions will then be held regarding:

    • How can bullying be stopped?
    • What do you think students, parents and schools need to do about it?
    • What works and what doesn't?

    This DVD is also being shown and discussed each morning for all year groups

  • Money Raised for Children In Need

    Staff and children came to school wearing spots last friday for Children in Need.

    Over the last half-term students from across the Academy have been collecting food items to support the homeless people of Mansfield, Ashfield and the surrounding areas; allowing people to access food, washing facilities and a place to  be listened to throughout the week.

    On Tuesday 18th November students from Queen Elizabeth’s Academy visited the Beacon Project on Wood Street in Mansfield to deliver the goods kindly donated by parents/carers of the Academy.  The students had a tour of the centre and learned

  • National Recognition for Student

    17th November 2014 - Hanson School

    Head Boy Sukhpreet Shergill along with Sarish Saqhir were selected from more than 40,000 young people accross the UK for their social action project aimed at supporting the homeless in Bradford. Sukhpreet helped make up and deliver hampers for the homeless and distribute them at a shelter in the city.  Sukhpreet had this to say about the experience.
