Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Barnsley F.C. Community Cup 2014

    12th December 2014 - Simpsons Lane Academy
    Simpson's Lane travelled to Barnsley F.C. to participate in the community cup following their success in the De Lacy League. The first game was against Horbury Primary.
    Simpson's Lane were unlucky, conceding three sloppy goals and eventually losing 5-3 after a brave fight-back.
    The second game (Against the eventual winners-Ward Green Primary) started well for Simpson's Lane with the score 1-1 at half-time. Ferguson with the goal of the tournament, as he controlled and then volleyed from beyond the half-way
  • Academy Christmas Holidays

    12th December 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    The Academy will close for Christmas Holidays on Friday 19th December at 1:15pm. It will re-open on Monday 5th January 2015 with students being on site and ready for registration by 8:30am.

  • Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch

    12th December 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    The annual Christmas party for Senior Citizens will be taking place in the final week of term at Manor Croft Academy. The event is designed to allow the local community to come together for an afternoon of entertainment. This Year’s performance is provided by the Kirklees Orchestra who will be performing festive songs for everyone to get involved with. Once the show is over the attendees will be eating lunch and partaking in a few games of bingo where the Principal, Ms Clacy will be calling out the numbers.

  • Theatre Trip

    12th December 2014 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    On Friday 12th December Meerkats,Ants & Sharks went to the West Yorkshire Theatre in Leeds to see James and the Giant Peach.it was a fantastic day and the children loved the theatre, a perfect way to finish off their topic work.

    The KS4 Boys Basketball Team have made it through to the North Lincolnshire schools finals competition which will be held in January.


  • Y11 Mock Results Day - Friday 12th December

    We are holding a ‘Mock Results Day’ this year to replicate the actual results day in the summer. This will be immediately followed by a one hour tutorial to help students create strategies to improve their results before the Final Summer Examinations.

    Year 11 students should arrive in school between 8.45am and 9.45am on Friday 12th December.  They should report to the Main Hall as soon as they arrive in school to sign in and collect their results envelope. Once they have signed in, students must remain on si

    Thank you to everyone who supported this years Christmas Fair, as always your generous donations were greatly appreciated.


    The fair was very well attended and was a huge success raising over £600. We hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

    On Thursday 11th December, group of children went to the Halifax Building Society to sing Christmas carols. We were raising money for both the school and Martin House Hospice.

    Staff and students had the opportunity to dine together on the 10/11 December and enjoyed a fabulous Christmas  Lunch in the Hall whilst listening to Christmas music.

    Santa and his Elves made a surprise visit into school yesterday.

    They had heard how well behaved our Year 2 class have been all year, so decided to pop in for some breakfast and to give the children an early christmas gift.


  • Christingle Church Service

    The whole school enjoyed a Christingle service lead by Reverand Westby at St John's church.

    Each child had made their own Christingle and carried them proudly on the journey to the church.


  • Academy Open Wednesday 10th December 2014

    The heating problems have now been fixed and the Academy will be open as per normal on Wednesday 10th December. Students should be on site as normal and be ready for registration at 8:35am.

  • Mr Wallis - Roller HockeyWorld Championships

    9th December 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    In November 2014, Manor Croft Academy PE Teacher, Tom Wallis made the 6,000mile trip to Canelones in Uruguay to represent England at the Roller Hockey World Group ‘B’ Championships. He was selected in a squad of 10 players from all over the UK to compete in the competition held every 2years, with a main goal of gaining promotion to the World Group ‘A’ Championships in France in June 2015.   • Regional Ambassador's Conference

    On Tuesday 2nd December, 2 students were chosen to go to Hull University to the Regional Ambassador’s Conference. The students chosen were A Simpson and C Cowling from Year 9. They were introduced to their role in school to be an advocate for PE and assist / organise their own clubs or competitions.     Congratulations to L Raspin who was nominated for a Healthy Lifestyle Award from the Get Going scheme. This is because she has done so well with her targets, made lots of changes and developed her confidence immensely!

  • Number Day

    We held a Number Day within the Academy whereby students took part in a treasure hunt around school and a brainteaser at lunchtime to win prizes.  Many students took part from all year groups.

  • Christmas Tree Fesitval

    8th December 2014 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    On Friday six pupils from HWPS School Council were taken to dress our Christmas tree at St Lawrence's Church, Hatfield. They all enjoyed themselves and were very pleased with the final result. Can you guess what our Christmas Carol theme was?

    5th December 2014 - Hanson School

    Students took time out at lunch time to admire the new 15' Christmas tree that is being displayed near our catering facilities. Christmas lunch for students is due to take place on the 17th December. The menu for the Christmas lunch is currently being displayed in the Atrium.
