    17th December 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club proudly presents Puss In Boots at the Plowright Theatre.  Tuesday 13th January 2015 - Saturday 17th January. All shows at 7pm with a 2pm Saturday Matinee.  Tickets are priced at £8.50 per person or a Family Ticket (admits 4) £32


  • Christmas Hampers

    17th December 2014 - Hanson School

    Students delighted local residents when they arrived bearing gifts for Christmas.  All the students have been collecting goods to make up food hampers for delivery.  Over 70 hampers were made and decorated for distribution.

  • Table Tennis Champion

    17th December 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    We would like to congratulate K Chabowski, a Year 8 student, who has won the Indidvidual Table Tennis competition for Under 13s and has become the North Lincolnshire Champion.  This achievement has earned her a place in the next round in Hull in February.  She won every game by 2 games to 0.  A massive well done from all at Melior.

  • Wrap Around Care

    17th December 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    As from January 2015, the Academy will be offering a Wrap Around Care Service.  The service will run from 7.30am - 8.40am and 3.00pm - 5.30pm.  This service will be offered to parents free of charge with the exception of £1 per day should their child require a breakfast.  If parents are interested in the service there is a request form/terms and conditions which will need to be completed.  This form needs to be returned to Mrs Nixon at the Academy or emailed to: m.nixon@melior.org.uk

  • Celebration Evening 2014

    17th December 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    The leavers of 2014 returned to the academy to celebrate their achievements and success. Subject awards and examination certificates were presented to over 80 students by Councillor Chris Mills, Chair of Governors. For the first time the evening included some of our sixth form students who have gone on to university. Mrs Pollard presented a number of special awards during the evening including the Academic Achievement award won by Brad Thomas and the Sporting Contribution award won by Devon Robb.

    Wednesday 17th December saw reward trips for both keystage 1 & 2. Key stage 1 had a visit from the Magic Carpet Theatre and Keystage 2 went to Hollywood Bowl.

  • Early Closure for Christmas

    End of Term

    The current flu and winter vomiting epidemic is seriously affecting the running of Hanson Academy.  After seeking advice from Bradford Local Authority and Environmental Health, the governing body have taken the decision to close the school early for the Christmas break.  The school therefore will be closed to all staff and students as from Wednesday, 17th December at 12pm.  A deep clean of the whole site will then take place.  Free school meals are available from the Atrium at 12.00pm.

  • Manor Croft Academy Reward Trip

    This term the Manor Croft reward trip involved 160 students who visited Hollywood Bowl and Vue Cinema in Kirkstall. Most students managed to creep over 60 points for their bowling score, however there did seem to be a lot of assistance as the barriers were raised, preventing the ball from going dead! After the game we ventured next door to watch the brilliant family movie, Paddington.     December's Music Platform was a spectacular event, showcasing our students' musical talents, and highlighting the importance of the people who inspire us. The show consisted of a variety of performances from the catchy rhythms of the samba band to the beautiful tone of the choir, as well as some outstanding solo performances.   • Alzheimers Fund-raising

    On 16 December we were delighted to present a cheque for £623 to the Alzheimer's Society. This huge amount of money was raised following a very successful non-uniform fund raising day. Students had been shown two film clips of Alzheimer's sufferers before the day itself so that they would have a clear understanding of the condition and the devastating effects it can have on families and carers. The cheque was presented by Shannon Lees, chair of the fund raising committee, and members of the Academy Council.

  • Aladdin welcomes Rowena Academy

    The Year 11 performing arts class had worked hard since the start of the year towards their musical theatre unit for their Level 2 BTEC qualification. The class were to perform their version of Disney's Aladdin to the whole of Rowena Academy. So the stage was set, the lights were turned on and the audience were very excited. The group dazzled their audience with their magical portrayal of the classic Disney story. They danced and sang their way to rapturous applause from their audience and a great afternoon
