    22nd January 2015 - The Vale Academy

    Tickets are now on sale for the academy's production 'Those Were the Days.' Students have been working hard since October to create a journey through British history in the 20th Century for the audience. The production takes a selection of important markers in British history, including the sinking of the Titanic, WW1, the creation of the NHS system, the 1980's Miners strikes, up until 2000, with a Millennium Party scene and a look at the impact of modern technologies.   • Under 16's CHAMPIONS 2015

    21st January 2015 - John Whitgift Academy

    With 6 - wins, 1 - draw 0 - loses we are the tournaments undefeated champions winning all three games last night has sent us to the next round, The Humber Games.


    First games performance was a 10 - 4 win over OWA which was a vital win to send us to the top of the table. Sealing the win on this game was from Charlie Ledbury and Taelan Reynolds by sinking a 3pointer each.

  • Safer Internet Day 2015!

    21st January 2015 - The Elland Academy

    On Tuesday 10th February 2015 students took part in activities based around making the internet safe and enjoyable.

    Students created worked on a let's create a better internet together campaign. They wrote their own recipes for making the internet safer and wrote an individual pledge to state what they could do help increase awareness.



  • Year 5/6 Primary Athletics Competition

    20th January 2015 - Delta Academies Trust

    As part of the overall development of school sport across the trust we are proud to announce the first Schools Partnership Trust Primary Sportshall Athletics Competition.

    This will take place on Thursday 26th March at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Teams should arrive no later than 12:00pm to register ready for a 12:30pm start. The event should finish around 3:00pm each school can enter 1 team in total. A team is made up of 20 children (10 boys and 10 girls).

  • Snow and Bad Weather

    20th January 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    In the event of bad weather it is always the academy's priority to remain open and as such the site team will work to ensure that the site is both accessible and safe.

    There are however rare instances where the academy might not be able to open as normal as a result of severe weather. In such instances any changes to the usual opening arrangements will be communicated on the academy website. A text system is also in place to let parents know if the academy is closed due to bad weather.

    The Maths Department here at the Queen Elizabeth's Academy has launched a new initiative of Saturday morning maths classes.  The main aim of these lessons is to improve results and support those students who need additional help with key topics in order to achieve their GCSE target.

    Mrs Betts, Lead Practitioner of Maths explained "When we initially mentioned the idea of launching Saturday morning maths classes, we did not expect the incredible response we got.  Our students have a fantastic 'can do' attitude

    Miss Coulthwaite’s 7set1 created model cells for their Quality Mark assignment, the work produced was outstanding!

    A special well done to Megan Davies and Isobel Morely who weren't in school on the day we presented the projects but still managed to send their work in!

  • Hull F.C. rugby

    16th January 2015 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    Hull F.C rugby will be coming into school from 16th January for 5 weeks to work with Years 3 & 4, they are looking at how to hold the ball correctly, how to pass and how to play the game.

  • Doncaster Indoor Athletics Championships

    16th January 2015 - De Warenne Academy

    In January 14 talented athletes from Years 8 and 9 were selected to compete in the Doncaster Indoor Athletics’ Championships at the EIS (English Institute of Sport) in Sheffield. The first track event of the morning was the 200m where Elisha Brown’s dedication to her sport finished the race in 4th position with a great time. Other great track performances included Darcy Taylor from Year 9 who pushed herself to come 4th out of 12 in the 800m, narrowly missing out on the finals. Grace Topham, also from Year 9

    On Wednesday 14 January 2015, some of our students represented the Academy in a Y7/8 Active Fusion Basketball Tournament at  Danum Academy finishing runners up. They played four games, winning three and losing one game.   They all represented the academy fantastically well.

    On Tuesday 13th January at 2.00pm the first Academy Parliament meeting of 2015 took place. Head boy Sufian Choudhury and Head Girl Catherine Doughty chaired the meeting. Deputy Head boy Ashley Wilcockson and Deputy Head Girl Rebecca James took the minutes.  Items on the agenda were: launch of consultation of the proposed House System, Academy Improvements, Maun Valley Citizens and Extra Curricular Activities.

    The Elland Academy Walking Challenge for Huntington's!

    The Elland Academy will be walking the 3 peaks for Huntington's Disease Association in summer 2015.

    This year the team will be walking the 3 Yorkshire peaks in 1 day. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

  • British Judo Championships

    The Academy would like to congratulate Harry Hamilton (Year 7) for competing and winning his first Judo contest to bring home a Bronze Medal.  Harry also produced an excellent performance to take a Bronze Medal in his category at the Southend International.
