Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

    15th January 2015 - Ash Hill Academy

    On Wednesday 14 January 2015, some of our students represented the Academy in a Y7/8 Active Fusion Basketball Tournament at  Danum Academy finishing runners up. They played four games, winning three and losing one game.   They all represented the academy fantastically well.

    On Tuesday 13th January at 2.00pm the first Academy Parliament meeting of 2015 took place. Head boy Sufian Choudhury and Head Girl Catherine Doughty chaired the meeting. Deputy Head boy Ashley Wilcockson and Deputy Head Girl Rebecca James took the minutes.  Items on the agenda were: launch of consultation of the proposed House System, Academy Improvements, Maun Valley Citizens and Extra Curricular Activities.

  • The Elland Academy - Annual Fundraising!

    13th January 2015 - The Elland Academy

    The Elland Academy Walking Challenge for Huntington's!

    The Elland Academy will be walking the 3 peaks for Huntington's Disease Association in summer 2015.

    This year the team will be walking the 3 Yorkshire peaks in 1 day. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

  • British Judo Championships

    12th January 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    The Academy would like to congratulate Harry Hamilton (Year 7) for competing and winning his first Judo contest to bring home a Bronze Medal.  Harry also produced an excellent performance to take a Bronze Medal in his category at the Southend International.

  • Christmas Assembly - Balloon Release

    12th January 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    On the 17th December 2014 we held a christingle service. At the end of the service students released balloons and were asked to consider what they were hoping for in the upcoming year, and the balloons were let off to represent how high their hopes and dreams could take them.  The balloons were orange to reflect the oranges used in the christingle service.  Attached to the balloons were tags asking if the balloon be found to be returned to the Academy.

  • Sky Sports Visit Report

    12th January 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    Rob Vickerman, captain of the England Rugby 7s, has been assigned as our athlete mentor this year to support our school in promoting PE and Sport. We designed a project to promote our new house system which has been implemented through pupil voice. Our project was Inter Form Dri Triathlon, for which year 7 had to get themselves a team of 3 people to complete 2 minutes on a bike, rowing machine and treadmill.   • Winter Veg Garden

    9th January 2015 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    Our Year 6 pupils have their own garden that they tend to on a regular basis. They thoroughly enjoy looking after their garden and have grown some vegetables over the Winter months, they, please see photographs below.


    They have grown: Spring Onions, Watercress, Kale, Cabbage, Lettuce, Wild Rocket, Spinach, Leaf Beat 'Bulls Blood' and Chicory.


    The Year 6 children have ordered some gardening goodies from the Morrison's Let's Grow voucher scheme, which they are very excited about.

  • Dodgeball Tournament Sucess

    On Friday six children from our upper keystage 2 took part in a Dodgeball Tournament over at Sirius Academy, the competition was tough but they played some amazing ball and are now through to the next round been held in Scunthorpe on 25th of March.

  • Year 6 Win Autumn Terms Attendance Award

    Last term Year 6 won our Attendance Award, as a reward for their outstanding attendance they spent the afternoon at Hull's Ice Arena, an experience they all really enjoyed.

    Our Deputy Head Teacher Miss Robinson will be starting up a Netball after school club on Thursday 8th January from 3.20pm - 4.00pm (due to dark nights, the time will extend to 4.20pm after half term).

  • Aladdin - Staff Panto 2014

    20th December 2014 - Manor Croft Academy

    This year the students were treated to their Manor Croft Christmas present by witnessing the Staff Pantomime. On show was Aladdin, masterfully redesigned by Ms Lyons with a slight Dewsbury slant on proceedings. The acting was at best, wooden, yet the cast were pleased with this review as performances in rehearsals had alarm bells ringing.   • QEA Christmas Carol Services

    19th December 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Friday 19 December 2014 Christmas Services were held in the hall, to celebrate and reflect on the meaning of Christmas. All staff and students were invited to take part in the services.

    Students were also encouraged to wear something festive for the last day of term in aid of fund raising for "Save the Children". The total amount raised was £204.31.

    Thank you to all that contributed to this good cause.
