  • Manor Croft Academy Reward Trip

    This term the Manor Croft reward trip involved 160 students who visited Hollywood Bowl and Vue Cinema in Kirkstall. Most students managed to creep over 60 points for their bowling score, however there did seem to be a lot of assistance as the barriers were raised, preventing the ball from going dead!     December's Music Platform was a spectacular event, showcasing our students' musical talents, and highlighting the importance of the people who inspire us. The show consisted of a variety of performances from the catchy rhythms of the samba band to the beautiful tone of the choir, as well as some outstanding solo performances.   • Alzheimers Fund-raising

    16th December 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    On 16 December we were delighted to present a cheque for £623 to the Alzheimer's Society. This huge amount of money was raised following a very successful non-uniform fund raising day. Students had been shown two film clips of Alzheimer's sufferers before the day itself so that they would have a clear understanding of the condition and the devastating effects it can have on families and carers. The cheque was presented by Shannon Lees, chair of the fund raising committee, and members of the Academy Council.

  • Aladdin welcomes Rowena Academy

    16th December 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    The Year 11 performing arts class had worked hard since the start of the year towards their musical theatre unit for their Level 2 BTEC qualification. The class were to perform their version of Disney's Aladdin to the whole of Rowena Academy. So the stage was set, the lights were turned on and the audience were very excited. The group dazzled their audience with their magical portrayal of the classic Disney story. They danced and sang their way to rapturous applause from their audience and a great afternoon

    Our Candlelight Concert is always a very special time of year for us here at Hanson, it means that the festive season is once again just around the corner.  

    We had a delightful evening being entertained by some amazingly talented students. The Vocal Group performed ‘Shedryk (Carol of the Bells), The Holly and the Ivy and also the very popular 'Let it Go' from Frozen. Hanson Voices created an amazing sound with their version of 'Do You Want To Build A Snowman' and brought a tear to the eye with Ed Sheeran's

    We are collecting food to donate to the local food bank for people who cannot afford food for themselves and their families.  All we are asking for is a donation of 1 food item from each pupil. A list of suggested items is listed below:

  • Y10 Ambition Students, Visit to University

    15th December 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Monday 15th December a group of our more able Year 10 students took part in their third visit to the University of Nottingham as part of their enrolment in the Ambition programme.

    Around 100 students were involved in the day from schools across Nottinghamshire.  Students were given access to Exams Tutor Subscription, an online resource to support revision in key areas such as science and maths.  They all received their own personal logins for the website and were encouraged to visit this website to get fa

    "On Wednesday 3rd December 2014 the first ever 'Friends of Hanson Academy' association meeting was held at the school.  A team of staff, including the Principal, met with 9 members of the local community to discuss all matters relating to the new association.  The meeting was very successful and shows the commitment of the school and members within the community to develop their relationship and move the school forward.  It was decided that the school will host the 'Come Dine with Hanson Dinner' for some me

  • Operation Christmas Child

    A huge thanks to all the Staff and Students who took part in Operation Christmas child.  Sixth form students have coordinated donations and filled nearly 200 shoe boxes. The shoe boxes have been filled with both essentials and Christmas treats and will be sent to underprivileged children in Romania and Belarus.

  • Christmas concert a cracker

    15th December 2014 - The Vale Academy

    Over two nights our talented students played and sang to a delighted audience with pieces ranging from Disney's Frozen medley to Christmas songs and classical with drums, strings, brass, choirs and more.  We were also treated to a sneak preview of our February stage production, "Those were the days."  It was a real treat!     With Christmas fast approaching, the students of the academy once again brought festive cheer to local residents at the annual Christmas Party. After decking the dining hall with some fabulous decorations, the team ensured their guests had a merry time by delivering an event to remember. The entertainment part of the afternoon started with carols from the steel pan band, followed by a treat from the academy choir who performed a pop medley and finished with an acoustic arrangement from two of our top singer

    15th December 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    Sixteen De Warenne students took part in the recent Doncaster Cross Country Championships. Emily Jones won the senior girls race and Connor Kelsall came third in the Year 10/11 boys competition. This means that both have qualified for the South Yorkshire Championships. Other superstars were Tamzin Alcock, Connor and Cameron Hamshaw (top 20 results) and Grace Topham and Chloe Elks who stepped in to replace absent students one hour before we left .
