  • Portland College Christmas Carol Service

    18th December 2014 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

               

    On Thursday 18 December QEA Voices were invited to support the Portland College Christmas Carol Service. It was a very special event and I believe all students at both Queen Elizabeth's Academy and Portland College felt extremely proud to be joining together to celebrate this special time of year.  It was the first time for some of our new choir members to perform; they all took this in their stride well done to all and keep up the singing!!!!

  • Winter Warmer in the academy Library

    18th December 2014 - The South Leeds Academy

    To keep out those winter chills and raise funds for the academy library re-design, the library team decided to treat library users by selling festive cups of hot chocolate  and deliciously decadent chocolate and jam-filled muffins. With Christmas songs playing merrily in the background, the team provided guest with a festive start to the holiday period and even found time to issue some Christmas-inspired library books.

                            Well done to the library team who raised an impressive £39.41.

  • Carols around the tree

    18th December 2014 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    Thursday 18th December saw our annual Carols around the tree concert. Each class brought their own tree and sat around it. Every class participated including foundation, it was lovely to hear all the children singing their favourite carols.At the end of the afternoon all children received a selection box from Father Christmas.

    Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club proudly presents Puss In Boots at the Plowright Theatre.  Tuesday 13th January 2015 - Saturday 17th January. All shows at 7pm with a 2pm Saturday Matinee.  Tickets are priced at £8.50 per person or a Family Ticket (admits 4) £32

     

  • Christmas Hampers

    17th December 2014 - Hanson School

    Students delighted local residents when they arrived bearing gifts for Christmas.  All the students have been collecting goods to make up food hampers for delivery.  Over 70 hampers were made and decorated for distribution.

  • Table Tennis Champion

    17th December 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    We would like to congratulate K Chabowski, a Year 8 student, who has won the Indidvidual Table Tennis competition for Under 13s and has become the North Lincolnshire Champion.  This achievement has earned her a place in the next round in Hull in February.  She won every game by 2 games to 0.  A massive well done from all at Melior.

  • Wrap Around Care

    17th December 2014 - Melior Community Academy

    As from January 2015, the Academy will be offering a Wrap Around Care Service.  The service will run from 7.30am - 8.40am and 3.00pm - 5.30pm.  This service will be offered to parents free of charge with the exception of £1 per day should their child require a breakfast.  If parents are interested in the service there is a request form/terms and conditions which will need to be completed.  This form needs to be returned to Mrs Nixon at the Academy or emailed to: m.nixon@melior.org.uk

  • Afternoon Tea

    17th December 2014 - The South Leeds Academy

    For many people the idea of a delightful afternoon would involve a perfectly brewed cup of tea, a delicate plate of finger sandwiches followed by a decadent slice of a cream-filled cake. As such, on Thursday 11th December the Year 11 PEAL group decided that they would create their own tearoom in an academy classroom and treat their guests to an afternoon they would remember.

    After deciding on the perfect menu, table settings and background music, the group got to work on preparing the delicious food. Options

  • Celebration Evening 2014

    17th December 2014 - De Warenne Academy

    The leavers of 2014 returned to the academy to celebrate their achievements and success. Subject awards and examination certificates were presented to over 80 students by Councillor Chris Mills, Chair of Governors. For the first time the evening included some of our sixth form students who have gone on to university. Mrs Pollard presented a number of special awards during the evening including the Academic Achievement award won by Brad Thomas and the Sporting Contribution award won by Devon Robb.

    Wednesday 17th December saw reward trips for both keystage 1 & 2. Key stage 1 had a visit from the Magic Carpet Theatre and Keystage 2 went to Hollywood Bowl.

  • Early Closure for Christmas

    End of Term

    The current flu and winter vomiting epidemic is seriously affecting the running of Hanson Academy.  After seeking advice from Bradford Local Authority and Environmental Health, the governing body have taken the decision to close the school early for the Christmas break.  The school therefore will be closed to all staff and students as from Wednesday, 17th December at 12pm.  A deep clean of the whole site will then take place.  Free school meals are available from the Atrium at 12.00pm.
