Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Red Nose Day 2015!

    25th March 2015 - The Elland Academy
    On Friday the 13th March students at the Elland academy supported red nose day by having a non uniform day and taking part in fun activities. Students were encouraged to wear red to support the theme of red nose day. Some also sprayed their own and staffs hair red! Students created their own funny faces in an arts and crafts workshop. At break they bought themed buns to help raise money and in the afternoon students joined staff to compete in a fun quiz which encouraged team building skills and good staff s
  • Reward Visits

    25th March 2015 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    25th & 26th March saw our termly reward visits. Keystage 1 had a visist  from Billy Biscuit and Keystage 2 went to Hollywood Bowl.

  • Year 2 at RASA for Easter

    25th March 2015 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Our year 2 children have been learning all about the traditional Easter Story in lesson time so it was great to be invited to Rossington All Saints Academy to watch a fabulous twist on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The children of Rossington All Saints were flummoxed to find Jesus missing from the tomb so set about using forensic testing to try and find some answers!

    It was a great show which was followed by some Easter craft activities. Children who made the best Easter bunting were given a prize easter

  • Easter Bonnet Parade

    24th March 2015 - Craven Primary Academy

    On Tuesday afternoon the whole school took part in our Easter Bonnet Parade, we had a fantastic turn out from parents supporting their children, and we had some amazing bonnets on show  Children were also able to design an Easter garden, again the amout of creativity put into these was fantastic. The competition was very tight and children who won a prize should feel very proud of themselves.

  • Autobotmobile Challenge!

    The children had lots of fun creating their environmentally friendly Autobotmobiles and the results were fantastic! Thank you to everyone who came along. The winning vehicles will be announced soon!

  • Red Nose Day at TSLA!

    23rd March 2015 - The South Leeds Academy

    This week, the Student Leadership Team and the Interact Club, joined together to organise a fun filled week of fundraising all in aid of Comic Relief – Red nose day.

    The students prepared and delivered a presentation to deliver in assemblies each morning this week to make everybody aware of what we were doing.

    The Interact Club members also made lots of posters advertising what was offer to go around the academy.

  • Trent Bridge Cricket Ground

    Some of the children got the opportunity to attend a Classroom Day at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground on Friday 20th March 2015. This day gave the children a better insight into Nottinghamshires Cricket history, as well as taking part in games and activities.

  • Active Bikers

    20th March 2015 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Our reception children have had a fabulous time this week taking part in Active Bikers.

    Active Bikers was 5 sessions of fun for the Foundation Stage. Designed to build confidence and improve balance on balance bikes. Balance bikes are specially-designed bikes without pedals that help children to develop their A, B, C’s Agility – Balance - Co-ordination.  


  • Road Safety Talks

    Year 10 students will receive Road Safety Talks during Period 2 and Period 3 on Friday 27th March 2015.  The talks will be delivered by the Police.

  • Spring Chicken Fun!

    19th March 2015 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    All our pupils loved having the "Living Eggs" in school with us.

    They arrived as eggs and we were able to see them hatch out and then grow into fluffy, noisy chickens!

    The children were given the opportunity to hold them before they left us!

  • Road Safety Show

    Yesterday the Year 7 and Year 8 students were treated to a drama production that highlighted the need for young people to be aware of modern day distractions when crossing roads. With the increase in phone use, by either texting or listening to music, there is a serious danger that young people in the UK are being struck down in and around schools. The students loved the performance which depicted a real event and ran the process through a court case. We would like to thank the drama production company for

  • Y9 Enterprise Event

    19th March 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    This year we are really excited to be invited to take part in the Mansfield Area Partnership Junior Enterprise Competition. This gives students an opportunity to learn to develop entrepreneurial characteristics of independancy, innovation, imagination, risk taking, creativity, intuition and leadership skills. The aim of the challenge is for students to develop an understanding of how to set up a small business enterprise to sell a product.

  • Red Nose Day - Huge Thank You!!

    18th March 2015 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    Thank you to everyone who took part in this years Red Nose Day!!

    We raised a huge £595 by selling 350 red noses, in additon to that the children came to school with funny faces and bought buns at breaktime that other children and parents had made!


  • Sports News Update from SSCO

    18th March 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    Year 8 and Year 10 students recently played a friendly Netball match against Huntcliff. Both teams won, Year 10 (4-2) and Year 8 (12-1).


    A Swimming competition for our feeder schools was organised and took place on Monday 9th March at Riddings Pool.  Our Year 8 students helped out at the event. 3 of our cluster schools entered the competition and the winners were Oasis Academy Parkwood. They will now progress to the humber round in April.

  • Race for Life 2015

    This year a group of our Year 10 students have organised the Race for Life event at Melior.  Please see below:


    "As part of our BTEC Sport course, we are organising and holding a ‘Race For Life’ event on Friday 27th March on our own Astro-Turf facility which is situated at the front of the school at Melior Community Academy.

    It will take place throughout the whole day with a different year group with a separate nominated lesson, including all year groups from 7’s to 11’s. All together we are estimating 300 st
