  • Katie Henwood Karate Champion

    30th March 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Katie Henwood a Post 16 student at Queen Elizabeths Academy has been taking part in karate for around nine years. She is very dedicated to this hobby and this has proved a success for her, for the last three years she has been competing nationally. At a recent competition in London, Katie was successful as she came third in the individual fighting event for her age group and came second in the team showcase event.   • St Mark's Easter Community Service

    30th March 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    On Monday 30 March, students from Farmilo Primary School, Cresent Primary School and Fying High Academy joined Queen Elizabeths Academy QEA Voices to perform an array of songs to celebrate the Easter service. A special thank you to Farmilo Primary Students who performed an Easter bunny sketch, which was amazing.

    The evening was a great success with over 100 people attending.

  • Race for Life 2015

    27th March 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    We are very pleased and proud to announce that our students who have participated in the Race for Life today have raised a total of £1896.82.  Pictures will be placed on the website after Easter.  The Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph were also present at the event and will be placing an article in the paper.  We would also like to mention a special thank you to Mark Love and Holly McGuigan who raised alone over £100 each.

    We had an amazing response to our Easter egg competition with some "cracking" entries from all year groups!!

     All the eggs were judged and prizes awarded in each year group.

    Children at school were lucky enough to be able to witness the recent solar eclipse that we had.

    They all researched the best and safest ways to view the eclipse and enjoyed getting outside to try out their viewing tecniques!





  • Healthy Packed Lunch Sessions

    All classes in school have now taken part in Healthy Packed Lunch sessions with Jane from the Community Food and Health Team. During the sessions pupils found out how to make sure they have a good variety of food groups in their packed lunches. They also talked about healthy swaps that could be made to make sure they have lots of energy to learn in the afternoons.

    The Academy would like to wish all of our families a very Happy Easter, we hope you enjoy the holiday and look forward to seeing you on Monday 13th April for the start of our summer term.

    20 of our children attended the School Partnership Trust Sportshall Athletics Competition on Thursday 26th March 2015. The competition took place at the English Institute for Sport in Sheffield.

  • Much ado about Shakespeare

    27th March 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    A group of 38 Year 9 and 10 students enjoyed a day of culture in Stratford upon Avon recently.  They were treated to a 'Brush up you Shakespeare' talk at the Shakespeare Centre.  The presenter was very impressed by our students knowledge about Shakespeare, his plays and poetry.  

    This was followed by a tour around Shakespeare's birthplace.  We took part in interactive drama activities and Tudor dance lessons with professional actors in the gardens before enjoying an ice cream down by the river.

  • The Great Art Quest Project

    26th March 2015 - Simpsons Lane Academy
    This year 5/6H have been very lucky to be involved in the Great Art Quest Project. 
    This project has allowed the children to work with two professional artists and create their own wonderful artistic sculptures. 
    The project came to an end this week when the children visited Yorkshire Sculpture Park for the finale event. 
    The children had the opportunity to see their fantastic sculptures displayed in the exhibition.

  • Young Enterprise 2015

    26th March 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    3 of our students competed in the Young Enterprise Area Finals at John Leggott College on Wednesday 25th March. We are very pleased to announce that they achieved 'Runner Up Company of the Year 2015' and have earnt themselves a place in the Regional Finals on May 7th.  They also received awards for Financial Management, Team Work & Communication and Social, Ethical and Environmental.

    Melior are very proud of their successes and achievements and wish them all the best for the Regional Finals. Well Done Boys!


  • SPTA Games

    On Thursday 26th March year 6 went to Sheffield to take part in the annual SPTA Games. A great day was had by all. We finished in 5th place.

  • SPTA GAMES 25 MARCH 2015

    Students attending the SPTA Games had a fantastic day.  The supported each other well throughout the competition.  Many of them also managed to get ‘selfies’ with Jessica Ennis and watch boxer Anthony Joshua being interviewed by Sky Sports, which added to the experience! 


    There were some notable performances from Mollie Magee Sharpe and Jake Langton in the shot putt, Jade Kerry in the 200m, Olivia Cork in the long jump and the U15 Girls’  relay team.   The U15 Girls’ team finished joint 2nd overall and they

  • A visit to Saint Luke's Church

    26th March 2015 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    The whole school went to Saint Luke's church to celebrate Easter, singing songs learned with Mrs Teasdale and reading extracts from the Easter Story to a packed congregation.

  • Enterprise Week

    26th March 2015 - Rowena Academy

    All the children took part in our Enterprise Week to raise money to support Peter Kaira, a child we sponsor in Malawi. Each class was given £20:00 and they used this to purchase ingredients to make Easter produce to sell on stalls at our Enterprise Market. The children made an incredible £162:27 profit!
