Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

    11th June 2015 - Craven Primary Academy

    A reminder to all parents that over the next 3 weeks all parents will be invited, on a specific day, into the academy to come and have lunch with the children.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to eat lunch with your child and also see all of the wonderful healthy and delicious options we offer.

    All of the children that took part where amazing ambassadors for our academy. The host Head Teacher said “Quick email to pass on my thanks for sending great children and staff today. I have heard super reports of how fabulous the children were and how involved staff were too.” Mr D Kite.

     ‘I Want! I Want'! is a 45 minute play followed by an hour long drama workshop with support resources which looked at issues around alcohol and the family.

  • Quad Kids Competition Winners 2015

    9th June 2015 - The Vale Academy

    The Vale Academy's Year 7 & 8 combined team won the entire competition by over 250 points and will now go on to represent North Lincolnshire in the Humber School Games finals on Friday 3rd July at Costello Stadium in Hull.

    The team was made up of eight students (four boys & four girls), each student is required to complete a 100m, 800m Long Jump and vortex howler throw and two boys and two girls complete a team relay.

    The Grove Academy’s Land-based Studies course, that developed from the partnership with The Bilton Conservation Group, has expanded its operation this year. In our second full year we now run the course two days a week, instead of one, and have given eight students,  on  alternative provision from Rossett, Harrogate High and King James,  the opportunity to work outdoors and develop their environmental knowledge. This year we will be certificating at least  six students with a City and Guilds, Land-based Stu

    STEM PROJECT in collaboration with North Lindsey College University Centre

    Between March and May 2015, 16 year 9 and 10 Design Technology Students participated in a pilot project with Lecturers at the college to develop skills in 3D CAD and use of Augmented Reality through funding from the British Institute of Steel. The aim of the project was to develop outreach activities for school children.

    A more therapeutic approach to the teaching of Art has enhanced pupils' well being and interest in the subject.  This has been from GCSE to the weekly Friday Challenges, for KS3 students.  They become involved with the ideas, materials and techniques which has a calming influence.

    Year 11 are on study leave from 4th June 2015.

    During study leave ALL students are still expected to attend revision sessions and their exams. Students entering the school for any reason including revision and exams must be in school uniform (including their lanyard).

    Congratulations to the 51 students who took part in the  Scunthorpe Music Festival at St Lawrence Church and Frodingham Parish Hall and returned with many trophies.

    Curriculum leader for music Jayne Keeler described it as “an amazing week”.

    “The highlight was the comments given by Marilynne Davies, the adjudicator who said it was rare to see such quality from such a wide variety of ensembles and soloists from one academy,” she said.

  • Young Writers Competition

    The Year 1 pupils have recently taken part in the Young Writers Poetry Competition. They learnt about Acrostic Poems and created their own based on their name or something that they like and have sent them off to see if they have what it takes to become published poets! The best ones will be published in a book that the pupils can purchase, as well as the winning school receiving a prize!

  • Year 5 and 6 Residential Trip

    Our year 5 and 6 pupils had an amazing time on their recent residential trip to Kingswood Peak Venture. Pupils took part in activities such as the archery, the zipwire, quad biking and the terryfying leap of faith.
