Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Scatterball Festival

    12th May 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    In total 40 Year 2 students took part in the festival. We had some games of Boccia too. The Year 6 leaders from the cluster schools helped and organised all the games for the Year 2 children. The festival was held on Melior Community Academy’s astro turf on a lovely sunny afternoon! A huge congratulation to all Year 2’s from Willoughby Road who walked to and from our school!!!

  • Mental Health Awareness Week

    The Health and Social Care GCSE group have been working in class to promote Mental Health Awareness week within the academy.

    One of the girls has created a powerpoint to useful links for parents and pupils who are interested in reading up on any further/need advice. (See Below).

  • Bradford City 30th Anniversary Memorial

    We held a non uniform day where staff and students wore claret and amber to raise money for the burns unit. Thanks to the Technology department for making the lovely plaque which was placed at the memorial yesterday.

  • Year 2 at Conisbrough Castle

    12th May 2015 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Our year 2 children went to Conisbrough Castle to support their topic work yesterday. They took part in a story about Conisbrough Castle and got dressed up as the workers who prepared the castle for King Henry II's visit. They also learned about who lived in the castle and created a timeline to show how old the castle was. Exploring the castle grounds, climbing the Keep and finding out about everyday life was also a an exciting part of the day.

  • Science Competition

    Below are some photographs of the Year 1 children creating vehicles out of plastic bottles for a Science Competition. The winners of Year 1 were Israa, Natasza and Meisha from Class 1W. Israa went to Doncaster where she went up against other SPTA schools.

  • School Election

    11th May 2015 - Manor Croft Academy

    Running up to the General Election, Manor Croft Academy held it’s own Student election to see which main stream party would secure the post within our Academy. Three teams of students represented the three main parties of Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats. The students were tasked with examining each party’s education policy outlined in their manifesto and running a campaign that mirrored these views.

    On General Election day each student went to the Academy’s polling station to cast their vote

  • Exam Season Starts

    10th May 2015 - Manor Croft Academy

    Good luck to all our Year 11 students who have started their exams. The commitment and preparation from staff and students has been outstanding. Revision sessions have been running for the past three months, with students attending in high numbers to school holiday programmes and Saturday morning sessions. Results come with hard work and this is something that is not lacking from within the Academy.  Good luck everyone!

    A massive thank you goes out to all staff and visitors for a great open day! A massive thank you needs to go out to our students for all their hard work. The Elland Academy students really did us proud, they became tour guides, servers and presenters. As our school motto states and we have proved: 100% Always, No Excuses!

  • Parent Governor Vacancy

    We currently have a vacancy on our Educational Advisory Board for a Parent Governor.

    If you are interested in becoming a member of the EAB, there are two forms that need to be completed. These forms can be collected from Mrs Nixon at the Academy.

    The first form is a Governance Nomination Form which asks you to say, using no more than 200 words, why you would like to become an EAB member. The second form is an EAB Member Criteria form which asks a number of questions required by law about your eligibility to b

    Our PE Department took some Year 8 and Year 10 students to participate in the SPTA Games at the English Institution of Sport in Sheffield.

    Our Year 8 Girls came second overall.

    Congratulations to Katie Wainer, Year 8, who won our Talent Show with her stunning version of 'Yours' by Ella Henderson. The academy also would like to thank the community for their feedback on our school, students and Staff.

  • English Institute of Sport

    8th May 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    On Monday 23rd March, Year 4 Gifted and Talented pupils from the three schools of Leys Farm, Outwood Academy Parkwood and Priory Lane Community School alongside leaders from Melior Community Academy, participated in a trip to the English Institute of Sport. The students  and staff had an amazing day where they got to look around the venue, and were given the opportunity, to see what it would be like to train in a facility alongside some of our present, and possibly future Olympians, as well as other profess

  • Behind the Scenes!

    8th May 2015 - De Warenne Academy

    Year 10 GCSE Hospitality students  recently took part in an event hosted by Sheffield Hallam University and Hospitality Sheffield.  De Warenne students were in the privileged position of being allowed to look behind the scenes of a number of large hotels in Sheffield including Jury’s Inn, The Leopold, and Novotel. This event was organised to try and encourage young people to choose a career in the hospitality industry. Major employers were also on hand to offer help and advice.
